  • Capacity of battery assuming its LiPo

    • Image is a bit fuzzy, but it appears to be the same kit (0615991FJ1) as this which has a 4.0Ah battery:

Weird that one (which seems to be the same based on the kit ID number) was posted as a bargain on here a few days ago for $199.20 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/761051) and had a higher number of upvotes than this.. Surely I must be missing something?

        • Someone posted this link in the comments and now it’s a separate post. Verdict was that the tools were shit, so don’t let the lower price trick you into buying unless you’re desperate for these right now and budget is ultra tight.

          • @Meconium: Why are they shit.
I have a Green hedge cutter and trimmer and they are going strong

These are basic fix things around the house. NOT recommended for building a house from scratch

          • @Meconium: OK thanks, was really just wanting to confirm they were exactly the same set. I'm neither desperate for them right now nor on a tight budget. They are just for very occasional use. I ended up purchasing for $97 delivered, so my expectations are fairly realistic as to what I'll get and that is fine for me.

  • As 18V would assume lithium - 5 cells in series each 3.6v nominal lithium voltage = 18v

  • Its a 4Ah battery according to bosch ebay store

I’ve got an old Bosch green drill I bought in 2007ish. Still a great handy secondary drill I use regularly for small tasks. Battery seems to hold charge for ages. Recommended for DIYer. Especially this price.

The reciprocating saw mite be ok for cutting butter .

    • What would you recommend?

      • -1

The Green series is basic entry level home handyman etc so if thats your thing it would do but of course if you want to spend more the range is dewalt, makita aeg ,theres lots of tool shops around to check them all out .

Green tools are for DIYers, that’s how they are advertised by Bosch (tag line : power tools for DIYers), the price obviously reflects it too. But saying that they are extremely good tools for the price.

I’ve been using green tools for over a decade now (they were a lot more popular back then before Ryobi took over Bunnings DIY power tools range). My impact and drill driver kit is around 7 years old, I’ve built a shed, a small deck and also did a sizable kitchen remodel (new upper and lower cabinets) to name a few larger projects I used them on, that's on top of the hundreds of small stuff around the house. The drill driver just gave up a few weeks ago, I am surprised it lasted this long given how much I used them. Timing for this deal is perfect for me. Don't have a reciprocating saw or a battery operated angle grinder, but I do have a few batteries. IMHO this is a price error, but if catch delivers them it'll be a real bargain.

      • What is your planned usage?

I’m home handyman, i’ve got/had bosch blue, bosch green, AEG, maketa.
All have done the job that need them to - having the right tool is more important than the brand or colour. If it’s only for a small projects, and you need a drill, an angle grinder and a reciprocal saw, this is a great deal.
        - though i would suggest a second battery so you can charge one while using the other.

If you’re going to build a few houses, i can’t advise!

      • I have the Milwaukee M18 Fuel Sawzall recip saw and it is, without doubt, one of the best power tools I own. It's so versatile - cutting metal, plastic, wood, Pruning branches and brush, using it as a scraper etc. Can get it into tight spaces and the 5mAH battery lasts for ages. It costs more than others and that's obviously an issue for many, but for a tool that does the job, it's the bollox.

        • Tee hee, 5mAh battery 😂

I bought this (and it's already dispatched, woo) and will see how it goes chopping down some bushes in our courtyard.

My Dad and I removed some larger trees a few weeks back and Dad brought over his Aldi reciprocating saw. It went through them like butter and it was like $50. I already have some Bosch 18v batteries from my first drill/driver set from a few years back so it'll be nice to have a few extra tools which work with those batteries.

I splurged a year or so ago to buy a Makita drill/driver set but unless it's a tool I'm going to use all the time, I probably won't be buying too many other Makita tools in the same lxt family.

          • +1

@whitey1212: Fair cop about the 5mAh - I'm an electrical engineer and qualified electrician too!

A recip saw really is a fantastic tool. We live on a big bush block and it's the tool I use the most - along with my Stihl 36V chainsaw. I rarely use my petrol saw now. Another great tool that I got recently and use a lot is a Milwaukee oscillating multi-tool - just fantastic.

I'm invested in Milwaukee but Makita is great too. If I was on a tight budget, I'd be all over this Bosch Green gear.

        • Your comment did it, I need a good reciprocating saw and I'm going to get a Milwaukee M18 Fuel series now. I'd use it for general purpose cuts but quite a lot of branches. Should I get the Sawzall, Super Sawzall (which sounds more powerful but can be corded as well as battery powered) or the Hackzall, which looks pretty well designed and would be useful for cutting tree branches? Curious which one you have since you raved about it!

          • +1

@Meconium: I have the Hackzall. I think it's the best option as it's better for one-handed use - the Sawzall and Super Sawzall (and the Bosch saw above) are more for two handed operation. That's fine but not so good when pruning IMO.

For pruning get the Diablo carbide blades from Bunnings - expensive (although cheaper on Amazon from the US) but cut like crazy and last for ages.

            • @R4: Brilliant, thanks for the tip. Now to find the cheapest way to get a Hackzall! I already have a good blade for pruning (using a shitty Aldi recipro), it’s a red saw blade that might be a Diablo, was $50 or so but cuts well.

It’s so hard to buy quality, buy once these days, so I appreciate your recommendation.

              • @Meconium: I find the best place to buy power tools is eBay. The Hackzall is currently $267 at Sydney Tools but can be had for $183 on eBay:

                https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/404126573083?epid=12034130407&ha…

That's a good price for this saw.

If you don't have Milwaukee batteries and a charger then you'll need to get those - again, eBay is a good source, especially for knock-off versions.

                • @R4: Thanks to your advice I'm waiting on delivery of a M18 Fuel Hackzall, a 6Ah RedLithium 18V Fuel battery, and a Milwaukee M18/M12 charger set. $440 but paid $380 with APAYDAY3. Pretty decent price I reckon, around half RRP if bought separately.

Just in time, too - got a notice from the council that my trees are too close to the low-voltage powerlines. That's my job for next weekend! If you have any tips on related deals, like an extensible ladder or accident insurance, I'm all ears :)

Thanks again mate, hope you have an awesome weekend.

                  • @Meconium: Which eBay seller did you buy from? The prices they are selling for seems too good to be true! I’m keen on the Hackzall too.

      Thanks I grabbed one

Because unfortunately my purpose made butter knife doesn't seem to cut butter.

      Thanks Dad
I also bought one for you

  • damn just missed sold out

  • Out of stock. This product has SOLD OUT!

  • Offcourse they have to send me a $30 voucher after i buy this by 1hr

  • Dispatched already, nice

  • Wow. Already received my order this morning at 9:30am. That was super quick.

    • Just got mine delivered as well, but the hammer drill appears to be used, the drill nor the charger have a box, but everything else (battery, grinder, and saw) all came in sealed boxes inside the main box. The drill has what appears to be drywall dust and some dirt see the attached photos : https://ibb.co/CPhHP2T , https://ibb.co/KjkH76h
How did your drill come ? Was it just thrown in the box with no packing ??
The main reason for getting this combo is for the drill as my existing 18V Bosch drill just died.

      • The drill and charger is without the box which is standard for this kit I believe as a friend of mine had bought the same kit a few months ago. The dust looks like desiccant powder as on mine a bit which I guess which is from storage.

        • Thanks for the quick reply..
I had more careful inspection of the drill, while there are few small scratches on the body of the drill I can’t see any scratches or marks inside the chuck itself, it also smells new.. lol. Perhaps the small scratches are from the drill just bouncing around the box with the charger and the brown particles are probably from the large cardboard box. The drill works, so I the stuff is from storage and shipping… will just keep it. Thanks again.

      • Brushless motor. Nice suprise at this price point

        • Yes, definitely. Its an Advanced Impact 18 driver, the cheapest price I could find for just the skin is $160 @ Amazon, as a kit (with a battery and a charger) over $250 on eBay, Anyway, this as a kit with two other tools for $108 is an absolute bargain.

          • @opt: Are the Grinder and Recip. Saw Advanced 18 too

            And is the battery 4AH

            • @easternculture:

Are the Grinder and Recip. Saw Advanced 18 too
              And is the battery 4AH

Yes, an AdvancedGrind 18, AdvancedRecip 18 and a 4Ah battery.

              • @opt: Nice. Was not expected

Also bought the Advanced Cut Nanoblade saw for $45. Might try and sell my ozito chain saw with 4AH battery i got for $60 still unused and complete the set with a bosch cordless chainsaw.

Already have the bosch line trimmer with battery (found on council collection day) and bosch hedge cutter i bought on marketplace for $20, also with a battery

  • My kit arrived this morning and I think it's fantastic!

The build quality on AdvancedImpact drill is as good as my Makita and is actually a little more compact.
The saw is brilliant and I've already used it to cut down a tree in our courtyard (the main reason I bought this kit)
Haven't had a chance to play with the angle grinder much (annoyingly it didn't come with the disc as it was supposed to).
And the 4ah battery is a nice complement to my 2x 1.5ah batteries from an older Bosch green kit I bought in 2018.

Individually purchased on Amazon this kit would be almost $650. $108 is an absolute steal and I thought for sure that the order would get cancelled due to a pricing error.

  • Recieved mine and can confirm these are powerful enough to use around the home.

Really regret not buying another just for the battery and charger, oh well
