[NSW] Madama Butterfly on Sydney Harbour: 2 Tickets for The Price of 1 (from $81 for 2 Adults) + $9.80 Fee @ Opera Australia

Found this promo code on an Instagram ad. Adult tickets range from $81 to $293 each depending on where you choose seating.

I personally ended up using TodayTix to get a rush ticket instead ($45 per ticket) but you're unable to select a seat through that method and not guaranteed a ticket.

The offer is available for tickets to all remaining performances of Madama Butterfly on Sydney Harbour in A, B, C, D, and E Reserve. Simply select ‘2 for 1 Offer’ when choosing your seats and the discount will be automatically applied.

Description:

The critically acclaimed and wildly popular Madama Butterfly returns to the Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour stage.

Under the stars, with fireworks every night as well as pop up bars and eateries, this is “the most impressive outdoor event in Australia… You don’t need to understand opera to understand what makes the occasion great” (Concrete Playground).

Take your seats overlooking ‘Paradise’ – complete with a bamboo grove, a giant moon, and a rising sun floating in the harbour. The picture-perfect backdrop of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge twinkles with thousands of city lights as night falls.

For innocent Cio-Cio-San, love flutters on wings of desire. For brash Pinkerton, a flight of fancy is irresistible. On their wedding night, passions ignite. Yet, how ephemeral is their ecstatic embrace?

Puccini’s intimate ode to unrequited love has always been shocking. East meets West, devotion meets disregard, expectation meets disappointment. In the clash, Cio-Cio-San’s dreams shatter.

Madama Butterfly on Sydney Harbour is a “five star world-beating triumph, surely one of the most spectacular outdoor operas ever staged anywhere” (Time Out).

Join us for Sydney’s best night out.

    with English surtitles

    TIL

    • You probably heard them called "supertitles" before.

This is an amazing production, probably one of the best of the Opera's on the Harbour.

  • I went to buy it, but then the code doesnt work on the premium reserve.. its a shame. I would imagine this would be a great show!

  • This is an excellent deal. Well worth it, and as long as it’s not raining, the night on the harbour will be spectacular. If it rains, however…

    • And it’s quite amazing how good the sound is. They even have the orchestra playing across Farm Cove in the opera house, and you would never know.

They pay you $80? ,,,, na still not worth it…

    • +4

They would probably pay you $80 to stay away.

  • Poor Tanya

  • Thank you, brought a couple. Now just have to hope for good weather!

  • Cheers this is a great deal. Gonna pop along Tuesday 🤘

  • There was heaps of seats empty on the weekend

This deal been running for a few weeks now

Make sure you wear warm clothes because it gets very chilly at night with the wind and all

How is it 2 for 1 when I selected 2 $146 seats and the total is still double even with the code

    • +1

      same, what's going on

      • +1

Ok actually that same ticket is $293 usually, without the offer. So it’s kinda a scam when you can get a premium ticket for like $345 lol, who would pay the $293 price so far away from the stage, might as well go for premium

        • man are you serious, what a disappointment :( Checked the weather, and it looks like there is a slight chance to rain - will probably confirm with the missus and see whether we'll go. appreciate the clarification!

        • Your math doesn't make sense to my tired brain.
          Two tickets for $293. VS
ONE ticket for $345? Or two premiums for $345?

If so, then yes, absolutely, just go premium I'd say.

Wonder where the $81 tickets would land me.

          • +1

@Lord Ra: 2 for $293 vs 1 premium for $345. The $88 for 2 can be at the back or very far left or far right or maybe very close to the stage (D reserve). I’m not very good at looking at the seat map but you can check it from their website

  • It's good to see a deal involving musical performance. I surprised people are interested in classical music and opera though - it has no thumping bass that humans seem to love. Classical music only comprises about 2.5% of the overall music market.

When we went, we chose the cheapest seats but just before the show started everyone started moving towards the middle.
So we also moved and got essentially two much better seat upgrades for free.

    • Dang I should’ve done that, ended up paying for A reserve at $151.40 each (with fees)

  • Weird, I just watched fatal attraction a few days ago for the first time in 30 years. (It references this)

  • Is it proper etiquette for people to move to unoccupied seats in a more expensive area during a performance? I observed many doing so, but I am unsure if this behaviour is appropriate.

    • +1

Just do it but be prepared to move back if someone with the actual seat number on their ticket turns up.

cringeworthy cultural appropriation, misogyny, trashy white American guy having sex tourism in asia, pedophilia. the music is good but the story is too old and offensive for today's world. no wonder it's not selling well, won't let my kids watch it, but that's just me.

    • +2

      Your poor kids.

    • Yuk is that what it’s about? You expect something so famous to not be so disgusting

      • Goodness ….. if someone gives you a bible, please don't open or read it.
