Bizarre
7/11 play book. Double the price of the coffee, introduce a .50c to spin it as a discount, yet still a price increase.
Bring back receiving txt overseas and cheaper yearly plans for a change. Otherwise offer something for existing customers
When did they stop sending text overseas. I was in Philippines 4 weeks ago and i was receiving text from Australia.
Not sure I recall roaming without fees before getting bank sms now not the case
@neonlight: Pretty sure any sim allows receiving sms without needing roaming on.
it still works, mostly.
I was in Vietnam a few weeks ago and needed banking sms and they took hours to come through, but the next day they were almost instant
Boost withdrew any international roaming access for over 2 years
@badonde: Pretty sure any sim allows receiving sms without needing roaming on.
Anyway I always buy a local SIM for cheap in the country when get there.
@G-rig: During covid they cancelled all the roaming partners presumably to save money. Sucked for those that need OTP abroad.
@badonde: Yes, but they have enabled VoWIFI which allows you to make/receive calls, and SMS when you are overseas. You just need to make your phone support VoWIFI on Telstra network.
Either way it's good, on my 3rd boost 365 day sim.
Telstra 5g network, can't complain.. although some can.. it seems. It's a great option vs being on postpaid plans for years.
I take this is only on a plan?
im on the cash rewards offer of 28days @$40 only ….. so I dont think so
My wife is on a one year prepaid Sim and got a message stating this offer has been activated on her Sim.
I'm on a year plan and didn't :(
my wifes' phone has 5G, which may have something to do with it?
365d sim, 5g
Prepaid..
If you don't have to opt-in sounds more like a PSA than a deal.
PSA ? prostate ?
Public service announcement
With guitars.
Does this speed compare to full Telstra speed tho
Not sure what full telstra speed is but in regional QLD am getting just under 100mps download speed on a phone that can't utilise 5g
exactly the same speed I have a work full Telstra number and my personal on boost same speeds no difference.
afaik from the network's perspective boost & telstra data are treated exactly the same. Boost is essentially a budget re-brand of telstra, not a wholesale customer with limited/differentiated network access.
I’ve gotten over 1000mbps down on Boost 5G. It’s same same.
Yeah I got 890mbps down when visiting the Central Coast on Boost. Very decent.
This belongs in the forums.
No bargain listed.
Yes, it drains out your data quota fast to charge more.
I am not surprised that some may read it as unlimited data.
If you don’t change your usage, then it won’t really affect your allowance.
When you have higher speed, the video streaming service will opt for higher quality and may allow download more data as buffering. People may have to recharge for new data before the due date.
@Neoika: On a fixed connection on home wifi for example, yes. But on mobile access, Android and iOS are pretty good with ensuring you use far less data. These settings can also be tweaked I believe - been a long time since I cared about data though so I’m not 100% sure on what these settings are today.
@zubzub: Not really mate, try running a speedtest on 5g you'll see. There isn't much difference in resolution and bit rates between mobile device and home entertainment for general browsing and streaming unless you specifically look for high resolution clip to test out your new TV with 8K or so.
No it won't with the same usage. Should be aware of
your quality settings anyway on mobile vs wifi.
Also recommend just downloading for offline etc when you are on wifi.
ridiculous.
you'll be telling us that new to netflix isn't a bargain either next.
utterly ridiculous.
Any hints on eSim rollout dates? It's been so long.
Till Telstra own service finds some edges over it and then allows Boost have it.
Not sure of the accuracy of this, but this is all I know
SourceHi folks, I just called the Boost Care hotline to ask them about eSIM availability.
The Boost staff on the phone was able to share that they have been briefed from Telstra that eSIM capability will have a soft roll out in late Q3 / early Q4 of 2023.
This soft roll out will continue to Q1 of 2024 where an official roll out will take place for all Boost Mobile customers by the end of February 2024.
Hope that helps!
Considering the next iPhone will likely be eSim only I'm sure they will get it sorted by the end of Q3
I had 198mbps/12.8 on 4G the other evening on Boost. Not sure if that’s normal…
I was getting 252/46 on 4G with Mate (Telstra wholesale) on the weekend, about 70Mbps more on 5G
I got 248 yesterday on 5g with boost
I got 76/22 (4G full bar signal )now at Rockdale NSW…slowssssss as normal
How's this a "deal" though? All plans were uncapped before April. They took this away and temporarily give it back to you.
Exactly like ColesWorth “deals”. Buy something today for $5 and tomorrow’s on “special” for $6.
Didn’t you hear? OzBargain isn’t about bargains anymore. It’s now Reddit for aging millennials.
as long as there is cash back to pay me to use their services I have no complaint, only appreciative…500mbps vs 100mbps means no difference to my use case.
Except that in my area in VIC was getting ADSL speed using Boost 5G…
Looks like Boost losing customer to Woolworths since Woolworths started 10% grocery discount per month with mobile plan … !
Yes and Woolworths also offers eSIM
But slower speeds, less coverage.
I thought that but again Woolworths is absolutely free if you consider 10% discount on grocery every month and if you combine that with 4% discount gift card then it is super deal… !
However, Woolworths also increasing price very soon ..!
Yeah, I switched from Boost to Woolworths Mobile since Woolworths essentially pays me to use their service. My partner still uses a Boost one year sim and we get the same speeds.
Can't expect much when Boost upped their plan prices and offer nothing for existing customers. Heaps of people here port out and port back in to grab the prepaid SIM packages on sale etc.
No esim no deal
Pricks capped 4g speeds to push people onto 5g.
No need to worry if you've had your Covid vaccinations
Alternatively just a sheet of alfoil under the hat will offer adequate protection.
No one’s being pushed onto 5G they’re both capped. Do you think uncapped 4G was better value than capped 4G/5G?
This is the opposite of a bargain
Thanks for sharing David
How is Boost compared to Belong?
I used to be with Boost but now switched to Belong $55 160GB PM, so far is working fine in Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan area good reception. Haven’t tried in rural areas.
Thanks for the info
so what in like 6 months we revert to 3G ?
In WA: 21 down, 4 up. Wth is going on here? I usually get better than that?
This is just normalising an artificial degradation in service and trying to make us feel grateful for it.
Not even bargain
Don’t worry. With uncapped speeds, you’ll finally be able to complete a sentence
I get 3Mbps on a good day with Boost (4g), can't wait to see what I get tomorrow /s
Isn't the 4G on a 28day pre-paid uncapped? So it's just saying it is?
Has anyone tried porting from Coles Mobile (Optus) to Boost and if so, how long did it take?
I just tried porting this morning around 11:30am and still haven't been ported over.did they drop the 100% cashback deals for this?
It may start again. Subscribe to the product to not miss out.
Thanks David
I've been with boost for almost a year and there is nothing you can say to convince me that it genuinely uses the FULL Telstra network. There has to be some deprioritisation of Boost traffic going on because I'm not getting the same level of reception I used to get when I was with Telstra
argh, always get NO reception on boost. So 100% or 0% of nothing is nothing.
Takes away standard feature, adds back as special offer.
