    Price in title.

      I thought they reduced to $50 :-(

Tempted to downvote just based on this.

    • Sorry it is my first time using ozbargain. I used the same format for suggested other similar items already posted.

Is price on the title not allowed?

      • I tried editing off the price on the title and it would say "price information not found" and want me to correct it before submitting the edit.

  • FYI TPG/IINET possibly Vodafone also will only let you connect the modem they send to you (Locked to Mac Address). It's possible the other providers also do this.

    • +1

      This is very wrong.

(Locked to Mac Address)". A 5G modem transmits an IMEI to the base station as the hardware address during authentication, not a mac address.

      • Which ever, like I said they will/can only activate the modem they send out. I have a spare in my cupboard if you want to buy it off me and test it.

          • @deme: Wow so high and mighty. Did you even read the post, they were not using TPG OR IINET as the provider, they used a boost sim. I will say again you can not use a modem that isn’t supplied by tpg or iiNet on their network.

            • @Doogan: I think you'll find that you just can't do VoIP using TPG or iiNet unless you have a modem supplied by the ISP as they don't give the VoIP passwords out. Never heard that you couldn't use another modem for internet.

            • @Doogan: Sorry to hear you are upset but glad to see you look up to me.
This is the official line from TPG but you'll find the sim works in any modem.

              • +1

@deme: I see you found you are wrong but are not quite willing to accept it yet, otherwise you would undoubtedly provide a TPG link as I did. Im just trying to save people from wasting their money, I imagine you must be associated with the seller.

                TPG:
The 5G Home Broadband is nothing like the ADSL. The device is uniquely configured to TPG network and it has a SIM card dedicated for that modem only. Cancelling the service with us is required a week before the start of the next billing cycle. Let me know should you have further questions.

  • Is this any better than Nokia Fastmile 5G modems supplied by Telco's earlier in 5G home internet introductions.

Mine does work with multiple networks (aka is unlocked).

    • I got one (Sagemcom) from TPG.
      It's unlocked (tested with Boost).

Performance wise: very good. I don't have 5G coverage, but on 4G I could get 200Mbps download, while using the same SIM, same location, with a Huawei B525, I could get only around 50Mbps. Wifi6, 10-15 devices connected simultaneously, haven't missed a beat.

Software wise: terrible. GUI is not consistent. Sometimes you see this feature, some other times it disappeared. Last week I couldn't control MAC filtering, this week I could. Last week I could change LAN subnet, this week I couldn't,…

Just tested mine again, and here's my results

Boost Sim (Telstra 5G network)- with ethernet - 766.33 Mbps /51.92 Mbps Ping 20ms
Boost Sim (Telstra 5G network)- with WIFI directly from 5G Wifi Band - 360.10 Mbps /49/49 Mbps Ping 21ms [I was getting better wifi speeds with the GL inet Flint router's 5G Wifi band ~395 Mbps]

Vodafone Sim (Vodafone 5G network)- with ethernet- 254.50 Mbps/ 42.55 Mbps Ping 29ms
Vodafone Sim (Vodafone 5G network)- with Wifi- 248.00 Mbps/ 37.60 Mbps Ping 29ms

Coles Sim (Optus 4G network) with Wifi- 232 Mbps/ 14.8 Mbps Ping 34 ms

Seems to me now that Nokia fastmile has poor Wifi speeds, Wifi seems to be capped around 360 Mbps, So crap Wifi if you are on a plan on much higher speeds than that. But ethernet is pretty good. (shows about the same speed as my 5G phone's speeds)

Anyone with Sagecom router want to share their Telstra 5G network experience with WIFI and ethernet speeds comparison ??

Tax Invoice will be provided on request.

    Shouldn't have to be requested.

    https://business.gov.au/finance/payments-and-invoicing/recei…

You must always give your customers a receipt or proof of purchase for anything over $75.

    • You seem confused. A receipt or proof of purchase are separate things to a tax invoice. You can one or the other or both.

      • A receipt or proof of purchase may be printed from a cash register, hand written or a tax invoice.

Any receipt or proof of purchase you give your customers must include:

        • your business name and Australian business number (ABN) or Australian company number (ACN)
        • the date of supply
        • details on the product or service
        • the price.
        • Yup, so you just confirmed that a receipt isn't a tax invoice…

          • @spackbace: Correct, but when a business is GST-registered they must show the GST amount and the words "Tax Invoice"

If these guys are offering to provide a tax invoice on request then they are clearly GST-registered and the receipt/proof of purchase would have to be in the form of a Tax Invoice.

            • @HomeAlone:

the receipt/proof of purchase would have to be in the form of a Tax Invoice.

No, it wouldn't, which your quote up above clearly spelt out

              • @spackbace: https://business.gov.au/finance/payments-and-invoicing/how-t…

A tax invoice shows that GST was included in the price of some or all of the goods and services you sold. You need to provide a tax invoice if any of these conditions apply:

                • the purchase is taxable
                • the purchase is more than $82.50 (including GST)
                • your customer asks for a tax invoice.
                • @HomeAlone: You are very confused. You should stop. There is nothing incorrect here. Ebay will automatically spit out a confirmation order Email which is your "proof of purchase".

A tax invoice is complete separate and should be requested for. Which is exactly what OP is offering.

                  • @plmko:

eBay order confirmation email is not provided by the seller, nor does it contain all the required information.

Any receipt or proof of purchase you give your customers must include:

                    • your business name and Australian business number (ABN) or Australian company number (ACN)

                    • details on the product or service
                    • the price.
          • @spackbace: That's my point, they are similar but they have different functions. HomeAlone seems to be correcting OP on a misleading point.

Unfortunately, eBay much like Amazon protect buyer's personal information. All it provide to seller is the shipping address. If one wants a tax invoice issued out to their company or billing details not the shipping details, one has to make a request. I can't just issue out invoice based on blank billing information.

  • Could this be a good option for those 300GB Telstra Mobile plans?

Any reviews of the 5G modem?

    • +1

Speed: 180mb/s even though i only pay for 100mb/s
Gaming: yes (may need to use ethernet cable)
      Port-Forwarding: no
      DMZ: no
      Change WiFi details: no
      Provider: iiNet

tldr review: Bare-bones, can't change ANY settings, but it's fast & reliable for what it does.

      Review:
The software is awful. I have this modem with iiNet and while it's faster than advertised, port-forwarding is none-functional. The interface says it's working, but it just doesn't work. I called up tech support and 2 different reps basically told me "5G isn't for that, buy NBN instead". (???)
There's also no option for renaming the wifi network, or changing its password.
DMZ mode doesn't function either, if you turn it on the connected router doesn't use it.

You can't turn off the WiFi either. I have wireless headphones that crackle when near a strong 2.4Ghz signal.. guess who had to move the modem next to the PC for lag reasons 💀. Yet my old modem i could just turn off 2.4Ghz and the problem be fixed.

This is a bare-bones router only. But if that's alls you need, it's great at doing that. I did have an issue with lag in the evening in games, but connecting to the modem directly with an ethernet cable fixed that.

I hate/love this modem, i love the speed, hate how port-forwarding and DMZ doesn't work at all despite the UI saying it does. I can't even use it as a dumb modem and use a seperate router, you HAVE to use it as the combo. Bleh
