On sale is the successor to the popular Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad 2021 which is perfect for media playback due to the OLED panel that's no longer pentile, Widevine L1 DRM and video out via USB-C. This will handle gaming easily thanks to the flagship MediaTek Kompanio 1300T that performs on par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 CPU. For reviews Techtablets has an indepth review.

Edit: Grey sold out. Only Gold left.

Featuring Android 12 (ZUI) with Google Play, 11.2" 2560x1536 OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 600nits birghtness, HDR10+ & Dolby Vision, 6GB RAM, 128GB UFS 3.1 Storage (microSD support), MediaTek Kompanio 1300T CPU, Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix HD, 8200mAh battery with 30W fast charging, USB-C 3.2 with Video Out, 4 JBL Speakers with Dolby Atmos, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS and POGO pins for charging/keyboard.

Important: Please ensure you choose "Bundle: CN Version" as that's a genuine Lenovo ROM with English, Widevine L1 and updates. The "Global firmware" is a ROM copied from another tablet, so it's buggy with an unlocked bootloader, no Widevine L1 DRM and no updates. Google Play must be sideloaded on the CN version from the included Lenovo app centre.

Available in Gold or Grey.

Just realised I bought the global firmware version a few days ago, do you know if it’s possible to install the Chinese one again?

    • +1

Depends. If you got the proper global firmware you're good to go. If you got the fake global firmware then I'm pretty sure you'll run into trouble trying to reflash. I've seen discussion around xda-developers about it previously.

  • +1

This or Xiaomi Pad 5 with android 13 now?

    • this takes sd cards

    • I bought the xiaomi Pad 5 for $418 couple days ago. I decided on the xiaomi over the lenovo due to the issues with the global rom reported on xda with no ota updates and impossible to reflash any stable

This was before knowing you could request a CN rom for the lenovo, then ota updates are possible with a Vpn set to China.

      • But I can't find anything about android 13 for this one , probably because I'm google searching in English and most discussions will be in Chinese

  • Do other android tablets support a dual audio feature which is in the Samsung tablets that allows you to connect two Bluetooth headphones?

    • +1

Bluetooth 5.0 devices should support dual audio, but galaxy tab A8 doesn't support beware… s7+ seems to….

It's a bit hit and miss seemingly, best to check specifics or other buyers experience

  • +1

I paid 6 hundo for the 2021 version, and that was a bargain at the time

  • Can this be used as a portable monitor? Kinda regreting buying the oled portable monitor from before if this can be used as one…

    • That monitor can still be had with the current codes

    • +1

      no

    • I use the Yoga pad pro 13 and it has the external hdmi input for that. A little more expensive but also on sale from same store:

      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003580401248.html?spm=a2…

Twice as heavy as an ipad pro though and definitely more fragile/not the same build quality. But if you are after a big screen that can function as a second monitor then thats what you want.

Was looking to get this tablet or the Legion Y700 (smaller screen but more ram and storage)…what are people’s opinion on just 6GB of ram these days is it sufficient?

    • 6GB is fine. 8GB will benefit more for gaming. Either are really fine. Depends if you want big screen or something smaller.

      • Thanks Clear. I’m an absolute noob with android tablets, if I were to go with the CN rom will it have Google store and widevine L1 support out of the box? Or will I need to do workarounds or what not?

        • Widevine yes. For Google Play you need to grab it from the Lenovo app store.

  • Doesn’t appear to support Netflix HD as not whitelisted. Can anyone confirm?

    • +1

Their list is quite outdated. Just check the phones section and you'll see. Review confirms Widevine.

      • Thanks, much appreciated.

I wish this comes with LTE. Any recommendation for the best value tablet with LTE?

    • +1

I have the same question. Interested to see recommendations.

  • I thought that friends don't let friends buy MediaTek?

    • +1

It's a good indication of people who don't know what they're talking about. Relevant many many years ago. Not now.

    • a lot of reviews put this particular CPU next to/near the SD860

  • If only this can also be used as usb-c external display…

    • It can’t?

      • -1

Not natively. You'd need to use a 3rd party app.

  • Are these tablets basically the same as the Tab 11 Pro Gen 2 from the official Lenovo website? What are the differences?

    • -1

This is the Chinese version of the same tablet. Too bad it's not available from Lenovo AU.

      • Thanks. Yeah I meant the Lenovo US website. They were heavily discounted there a few days ago.

  • Would this be the better deal compared to the legion y700 for $505?

    • -1

They're targeting different markets. If you're wanting to do gaming or after something smaller to fit in your hands, then the Y700 wins. If you don't mind a larger screen and care less about games then this wins.

    • I’ve been struggling for ages too which of the two to get haha.

Both about the same price but one has better and larger screen and more speakers while the other has a bit better storage/ram for the same money and better portability…argh.

  • I'm assuming that this tablet is good for media streaming? How good is it for that purpose compared to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6? On paper, the former looks like it has better specs…

  • Shit its sold out the CN version?? What now

  • I used to having this model bought from the same dealer, I would say you pay for what you get, mine one last for 4 months and then can not be charged any more, ask dealer, and then they asked me to post it back for checking. Not worth the efforts

  • Any chance of a deal on the pad pro 12.6?

    • +1

I looked around but they all seem to be seller reflashed with a dodgy ROM.

      • Thanks for looking anyhow.
I saw there is the Tab P12 Pro with the 12.6 screen on the Au education store for $859 but as that model only has 6GB RAM and 400 nit screen I am guessing it is like the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.6 model from 2021.
I am after their newer model as it has the "DC soft light display" 600 nit (which I hope means no PWM) screen, and 8GB of RAM.

        • +1

Price would have been around A$800 anyway and Lenovo AU often sells for $999 on sale. With that difference it's worth considering local stock.

          • @Clear: Lenovo AU only seem to have this model:
            https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/tablets/android-tablets/tab-s…

The main feature I was after was a DC screen (or possibly the 1920Hz one)
The AU model has Android 11, 6GB RAM and a 400 nit screen - I think this is not the same as the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022 with the DC 600 nit screen,

            • +1

@repeat: That's the Pad Pro 12.6" you mentioned in the original comment. Android 12 via OTA and later 13 with that one.

              • @Clear: Yes - I think that is likely only a CN model in that case.
So only model with CN firmware gets OTA I imagine.

                • +1

@repeat: The global and CN models are physically identical with 6GB/128GB and8GB/256GB variants. On the software side the CN version runs ZUI 13 (Android 12) and the global version runs the Lenovo stock Android 12. Both get updates. I'd say ZUI gets more attention from Lenovo though.

  • Is the AN35 code working for anyone? When I tried it says all claimed now…

    • Answers your question. They're all gone.

      • Does it reset or more codes get added?

Found a reddit thread with someone saying the same thing but that was 2 days ago.

        • Nope once they're all gone they're gone. The sale ends tonight anyway.

  • Oh 💩! Missed this one! I bought the US one from Amazon in the same day for $100 more and for the 4GB one only.

    Kicking myself.

  • so the 2022 version has 120hz vs 90hz and media tek (but comparible performance)

    is that the only difference?

I bought this one last year. now im worried i have the global rom
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004429247919.html

    • Not many major differences as you can see. I'd say the OLED display is much better this time round as there's no Pentile.

2021 Lenovo tablets generally had legitimate global ROMs so you're safe.

      • oh nice. thanks clear

i missed this deal. was looking for another

i never hear good things about mediatek chips, surprised they got one that performs as good as the 870, then again its a pretty old chip at this point

        • When you say MediaTek people tend to think of the budget CPUs. The high end Dimensity range are very good, as are these newer Kompanio CPUs.

          • @Clear: thats something new i need to research lol

            • @furythree: Nanoreview are often a good place to compare SoCs for phones. The Dimensity 9200 being ranked 3rd is impressive.

              • @Clear: that is impressive indeed

we've come a long way in mobile compute power

wats scary is we know apple is purposely holding back with the a16 bionic

they probably have a real monster with the a17/a18 ready to go just in case the competition heats up again

              • @Clear: im confused around the difference between kompanio vs dimensity

dimensity looks like flagship mobile SOC with 5g
and kompanio is just arm compute SOC? i.e. chromebooks and superceded?

                • @furythree: Dimensity is designed for mobile phones, hence the 5G support. While Kompanio is focused more on tablets, Chromebooks etc.

The Kompanio 1300T is basically a modified Dimensity 1200. Runs off a smaller process (6nm vs 7nm), better GPU and faster storage. The big and small cores pretty much remain the same.

                  • @Clear: that makes sense

will definitely keep a lookout now for mediatek devices. should save a bundle of money for similar performance to snapdragon

  • +1

    Mine arrived on Monday.

Ordered the gold version as grey was out of stock, but I received a grey unit.

Awful grey banding on low brightness at 120hz but doesn't seem to occur at 60hz.
    Great tablet so far otherwise.
