UPDATE: Seems the EU + 100w USB-C bundle is OOS, US + USB-C is still available for slightly more (US$32.10 (~A$48)) so be sure to select the right one.
UPDATE 2: Stock seems to come and go and price jumps around a bit. The US bundle was available for US$29.76 for a bit so worth checking the listing if you are after one, even if deal is marked as out of stock.

Featuring 3 USB-C ports and 2 USB-A with a maximum of 100W from a single USB-C port. It also has a useful/gimmicky wattage display, detachable power cable and is bundled with a 1 mt 100W USB-C to USB-C cable. The EU cable is the cheapest, US is slightly more (no AU option but it is a standard figure 8 cable)

As this appears to be sold under a couple of different brands I've lifted the info below from the Asometech listing which has a little more.

Here is a handy chart of the port combos and their power output (maybe easier to read than the text below).

Using One Port Output :
USB-C1 / C2 / C3 Output :5V3A / 9V3A / 12V3A / 15V3A / 20V5A,PPS 3.3-21V=5A, 3.3-11V=5A (100W Max)

Seems pretty crazy for the price! Could i buy this and use it as a universal charger for all android phones? Since they all mostly charge at different watts.

    • +5

Probably can charge lot more than just Android phones.

    • They will automatically negotiate voltages. I have a similar one from Amazon. When I travelled, I hooked it up with: MacBook air, iPhone, android phone, and 2 cameras. Queueing after them were ear pods and smart watch.

  • +2

Bloody hell I just got Baseus 100w GaN charger for like 70ish bucks…

  • Thanks got one as my travel charger

  • +13

Awesome price. Hopefully they don't turn out to be the next Heymix

    • Curious what’s wrong with Heymix, was about to get one for travel

      • +12

Ozbargainers carry fire extinguishers with their heymix.

      • Had 3 break on me, gave me a new one each time. Didn't explode though but a good waste of time. Don't waste yours

      • I have been using 2 with no issues for over 2 years, but have a quick search in OzB for the juicy stories.

      • Avoiding them then

  • +4

Tempted to get this as the reviews look good.
2 x 1 Star: Probably repackaged returned units with cracking or scratches
1 x 2 Stars: Delivery issue which was not the sender's fault

    • +1

That's not the biggest concern as you can always find a way to get refund. The worse scenario is when it burns your devices, like laptop and mobile etc, that's real bad if that happens.

      • +1

That's the reason why I hadn't bought the Baseus 100W charger a couple of weeks back. Some OzBargainers claimed that their devices were burnt by it.

        • Smart

        • +1

I think it is safer to get a more reputable brand. I bought the Satechi 165W and it is great. Cost quite a bit more though. But still there are lots of horror stories with noname chargers going around so I d rather not to take the risk.

      • +1

That's concerning. There is no mechanism in these to prevent device damage?

So what is the price point for the more reliable ones? Which brand?

        • +2

That's concerning. There is no mechanism in these to prevent device damage?

No one said there wasn't. Chargers have ICs in place to prevent overcharging, overheating etc. but like all things electrical there's always a risk. Like your phone battery expanding.

        • The Satechi 165w is about $150. Otherwise I think even the Baseus should be more reliable than this.

      • +1

Not to mention the house burning.

      • Aliexpress are PITA when it comes refunds though. Will do all they can to avoid paying up!

        • +2

Really ? I just had two refunds processed in 6 months. Took about a month each because they get the sellers view (and I had a recording of the failure that I had submitted with the refund request).

I normally request the refund stating I'm not returning the item unless they pay postage. But I think that means I don't get the total refund (didn't work out why there was a difference in what was offered as a refund, but it was close enough).

          • +1

@Ifndefx: They once sent me the wrong item (bought a phone case but they sent some diodes).
I made a claim, and AliExpress asked me for proof (it's AliExpress, not the store, as AliE combined multiple purchases in one shipping).
I sent them the photo of the parcel wrap with the diodes. They asked for "proof showing that the phone case was not delivered" :( I asked them how should I have the proof. They simply closed the case. PITA
The seller did response to me, saying that they couldn't do anything - all are at AliExpress.

            • +1

@Averell: You should keep raising a case till you get it resolved. I haven't had that specific issue, but I did have an issue where it went missing they closed it saying it was delivered but it never arrived. I complained stating i never received it and they processed the refund. But this was a while ago (pre-pandemic)

    • As far as the cracks go, I've got a feeling its in the manufacturing and they are all cracking when the clear layer gets assembled to the rest.
Pretty much all the review photos have small cracks around the holes, same with the Asometech reviews.

The Asometech listing mentions something which I'm not sure is them trying to pass off as bonding lines.

"Because the charger shell is a black light-transmitting surface, and there will be shell bonding lines. Please rest assured that this is not a second-hand product, nor is it a scratch. This is a normal phenomenon."

  • -1

If no AU cable how do you use?

  • How do you get the price?

    I see 2 listings, $43aud and $56aud excluding tax.

    I assume it's the 43aud

  • +10

I am always wary of buying electrical items from AliExpress as you can never be very confident that it will be electrically safe. When you buy from overseas stores like AliExpress you are the importer and hence are responsible for ensuring that the item is complaint with Australian standards. Buying items that you can buy from a reputable retailer in Australia is a good way of having some confidence that the item is safe. Be warned though, don't burn down your house over a cheap charger. Maybe this item is compliant in Australia? Maybe not? Without doing further research, I wouldn't risk it.

    • But then ib hifi etc selling stuffs for $$$$

I usually just look at the brand.

      • +1

        Is Toocki a reputable brand?

        • Yes. Unlike Heymix.

        • +1

          No.

Like the OP says, this is just a rebranded product from an OEM production line.

      • Ie. If you can buy from JB, then it's pretty safe to get the same model from AliExpress

    • Yep, I'm too scared of frying my electronics to be game to take a risk on chargers.

    • It’s okay I’m only going to use the charger for overseas travel, not in Australia.

  • Can this charge a MacBook pro with all 5 port in use?

    • +2

Depends which MacBook Pro and how much draw is coming from the other devices. The 13" needs 65W and the description above says you can have 65W + 30W + 20W + 12W +12W. So as long as the other devices aren't drawing more than their allocation, yes.

      • Umm pretty sure that’s not how the MacBook draws power, but I also don’t have anything to prove this lol.

        Edit: I DO have proof:

        https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT212753

“ Your Mac can charge over only one port at a time, so connecting multiple power adaptors to the USB-C ports and MagSafe 3 port (if present) won't result in faster charging.”

Edit2: I just got what the question and answer about lol. It about charging MacBook Pro while other devices pulling power lol. Sorry

  • Travelling soon and need a charger for everything, so I'll give it a whirl.

    • +1

What is your definition of 'soon'? AliExpress purchases can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months.

      • 1.5 months…

I hope it arrives by then!

        • +2

I'm hopeful it should be at the 2 week end of the scale. Ordered yesterday and shipped straight away. Tracking number provided is Auspost format and last time I had one like that (mid last year) arrived in 14 days.

          • @bamzero: I just had 4 orders from the 11th arrive today. All different sellers.

            • @Clear: My Aliexpress orders seem to arrive faster than my Amazon ones these days..

  • +1

I always thought that "Asometech" was a typo but too late to correct so they just went with it. :D

    • Someone actually read the description? :D

  • +1

When there are lots of downvotes for Heymix in this community
I don't see any of these selling in aliexpress is better quality than heymix

    • So Baseus on AliExpress is no good then? :P

  • i'm taking a gamble and bought one…..won't connect anything of value to it initially. fingers cross it's better than heymix.

Also, i noticed something interesting. Some of the 4 port options on the listing go above 140w…..surely there needs to be an error there somewhere, right?

    • quick mafs

  • is this overkill to charge my phone? what do u use this for?

    • If you have only one device to charge then yes.

If you have more than 3 items to charge same time - laptop, tablet, phone, headset etc.

    • Handy to charge multiple devices simultaneously, and if the specs are correct, it is powerful enough to charge most newish laptops.

GaN chargers use gallium nitride semiconductors instead of silicon, they run cooler and therefore more power efficient. Less heat also means more compact design, that's why there is a wave of small but high output chargers popping up.

Before USB PD, most chargers only output around 10W (5V x 2A), so heat was not a problem.

  • -4

No way I'm going to attach my phone or laptop to something like this. QC on a product this cheap will be close to non-existent. I've had ports on high power third party chargers fail.

You'll probably be lucky and nothing will blow up, but when I can use my original laptop brick to fast charge my phone or laptop, I don't have a reason to need multi port chargers for my more valuable devices.

    • +2

      That's just a cable?

    • +3

Return your Ozb license now please

  • +3

Don't risk it and spend the extra money. It's fair to cheap out on some things but this is the kind of thing you don't want to risk burning down your house over.

What's an extra 30 dollars for something you trust over burning down your house and risking your family's life?

My dad's a firefighter and sees these cheap untested Chinese crap burning down homes and ruining lives on a regular basis.

    • +8

      OMG no way! THE broden?!

I thought you were just something they made up to scare kids, like the Boogeyman or Michael Jackson

      • +2

Just in time for the PS5 deals

    • +1

Any brand names that come to mind to be wary about? Too many things fall under the Chinese category.

  • +1

I went the Mophie speedport 120 for $100 delivered via eBay last week. One less type A port, and 20 less Watts, but I'm happy with the purchase even at twice the price of this. Right now I have over $4k worth of gear plugged into it so the extra $50 is pretty cheap insurance!

Having said that, the feature parity on this is great – like the IEC-C7 cable so you can swap it over for travel – so if you are only plugging in a few cheap items then it could be worth the roll of the dice.

  • Does anyone know something similar I can plug in usb-c devices and do data transfers?

    • +1

Data transfer to and from where? Are you just looking for a usb hub then?

this, without the hefty price tag.

        • Get a USB C monitor with PD built in? Or do you want a USB C hub/dock with PD for travel?

        • Has to be USB-C? This one just got posted a little cheaper than above linked but only 1C4A.

  • Noting a single port won't give you 140w (it's 100w max) for those who look to fast-charge their newer macbooks.

  • Looking to pair this with an IEC-C7 (figure 8) cable.

Found one on Amazon that has a third prong that is supposed to be ground: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B088WNWY2L

Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I thought IEC-C7 cables are only two prong?

Would prefer the extra ground for safety.

    • +3

That seems to be missing insulation on the prongs themselves, would avoid.
Also the ground goes to nowhere, see the other figure-8 end has only 2 prongs.
I don't think it's actually legal to have a ground prong that isn't connected in Australia, you are supposed to leave prong off if not used. Could be wrong about this last part though.

      • +1

Good pickup on the insulation, will avoid this one.

    • It's probably an error. If the extra prong is there, there's no way for it to connect to the device.

  • Is this to be expected from Ali Express?

I registered in Ali Express app to use a refferal link from OzB. It wouldn't allow me via a browser using a refferal code, but it promised AU$7 off code(s) if I do via the app. Freshly installed app, new user.

After I registered and confirmed my email with a 4-digit code, it told me I need to sign in on another device. I tried to logged in on a desktop browser, but it asked me to add a phone number and to verify it. I did.

I can finally log in with my new username, but there's no sight of the refferal credit or coupons. I clicked the refferal link again on my phone and it took me to the app and said "Name Surname gave you $7" or something like that but it's nowhere to be seen and I'm at "Place Order" button already.

    • Typical gimmicky Chinese marketing.
      Source: I am Chinese:)

    • PDD (pinduoduo, Temu's parent company) used to run a classic scam style promo marketing in China where it claims to give new users like $100 in cash. You spin a casino style wheel and boom you are so lucky and got $97 straight away, all you need is to invite a couple of more friends to get the balance to $100 and withdraw it to your bank account. The first few friends you invite gives you another $1, and soon you have $99. Just one more to go and sudden the next friend ref credit becomes $0.5, then $0.1, after a few tries you have $99.9. And guess what, next one gets you $0.01:)
Maybe after inviting like 50 or so friends you finally have $100 credits and boom, because you didnt verify your ID with an official source, they are unable to send you the cash to your bank account so they have kindly replaced it with a $100 voucher. You click on the voucher, wait it actually says "voucher pack", and boom now you have 10x$10 vouchers for your enjoyment:)
      How lovely!

    • Thanks for the answers. I didn't expect to hit the wall like that because of, um, cultural differences.

I orderded without any code as the ones that somehow made it to my account couldn't be applied (for a vague reason) anyway.

      • That's why Mike Pompeo said you should "distrust and verify" when dealing with the CCP, which essentially owns everything in China.

  • handy chart

    so, according to the chart,
if I were to use the PD ports to power a small laptop,
I could only get the required power output, if I only used 1x USB-C port?

    • Depends on the small laptop - if it is able to charge at 65W you can use all 3 USB C ports.

      • OK. Understood.

So, depending on the PD "intake" of the laptop,
I can then use the other USB ports accordingly.

        Thanks.

        • +1

The chart shows the maximum the device will allocate if all ports are used at max draw. If some ports aren't drawing much that should leave more power for the other ports up to their listed maximum.

  • Going to give it a go. went with the US version as it also includes a 100w USB cable.

    • Thanks for this. I have an ordered the US version with 1M 100W USB-C cable as well. This is a good deal for roughly another US$1.50 extra.
