Annual fee is $300 if you don’t spend $48,000 in the prior year if I’m reading that correctly.

    • +1

yeah unfortunately the annual fee isnt $150. Its jacked up to double. I'm close to my annual renewal.

    • +11

It's discounted to $150 in the first year.

$300 subsequent years unless you spend $48,000+.

Subject to your acceptance you will be billed an annual fee of $150 for the first year and every year afterwards if you spend a minimum of $48,000 on eligible Retail Purchases and Cash Advances in each 12-month period, starting from the date your Account was approved…. If you do not meet the minimum spend in the previous year you will be charged an annual fee of $300.

  • Do you have to spend 2k in one go?

    • +2

      Purchase"s"

      So no

      • Hello, Can I pay council rates in that 2000 spend using Apple Pay?

        • That's a question you might need to ask your council. You could go in person and tap your phone.

  • +1

Minimum $10k limit, wowzers. Wonder what the income requirement is.

    • +2

      Not much tbh

A few years I was on a 80k salary and amex gave me a $15k limit.

      • +8

Maybe… after the Royal Commission into Banking etc, lending has become more strict. Though perhaps some applicants can share their salary if they are successful.

This is OzB though, so no doubt $200k p.a with no mortgage as per the common trend that everyone under 30 here seems to be on.

        • +4

10k limit is pretty easy to get, 60-70k salary would very easily cut it.

        • +1

How else we all can afford high-yield investment??

        • -3

We are under 30 professionals earning $250k.

        • so no doubt $200k p.a with no mortgage as per the common trend that everyone under 30 here seems to be on

Yet we are all some of the biggest tight arses here.

      • I remember getting 26k credit limit on a salary much lower. I think it was Coles at the time around 2017ish.

      • +1

I had 15k limit with 65k and was still accepted for another 6k card

Around 60k clean minimum (ie PAYG) is what they usually want to see for 10k limit

      • Managed to get a 12k limit with 60k Salary

    • +2

They gave me a 40k limit when I was barely touching 6 fig salary. Pretty stupid tbh

    • +1

I’ve had 4-5 cards with 6k limits going at once on a five figure salary in just the last year.

The threshold for responsible lending seems to just be ‘able to meet the minimum repayments if maxed out’, regardless of how much doing so would suck.

To put it another way, the responsible lending rules are to protect the banking system, not consumers.

  • This may be the card for Ozbargainers to settle in with their PayAll schedules before October 2023 after closing the Prestige card (after already collecting and spending the 300k points bonus). One can easily exceed the 48K requirements with the PayAll payments so the annual fee is effectively just $150.

    • Do you know if prestige card also has the 48K spend for discount annual fee??

      • Wife and I used to live on just over 30k combined, so not a snowflakes chance in hell we would spend 48k. Wide range of people here, so one cannot meet the spend requirements, nor can two, although you clearly can with this payall thingy

        • Yes, that's why I ask. With payall you can easily hit the 48k target. Just wondering if also prestige card has that fee reduction or not.

    • -1

There’s a fee for pay all and also seems to be limited by category last time I tried. Two rents only one was setup properly. App is not great and you can’t do it on the website.

      • There’s no fees if you set up your PayAll payments before October. I think it’s the whole point. Otherwise it’s not worth it if we have to pay 2% fees.

        • yes, I think from T&Cs as long as you setup PayAll before 31/10/2023 all future Payall payment are 0% fee
I have setup my premier till 2034 LOL

          • @littlesoldier: 2034? How could you do it? I could only set it up to two years?

            • @Tomorrow: You can set the start date in the future
              so 2032 to 2034 LOL

              • @littlesoldier: Wait explain to me why you would do this when you're not sure if you'll keep the card that long.

                • @nightelves: Yeah I'm not following this. You are limited to a 2 year period regardless so why not enjoy the points and benefit now rather than in 19 years time ?

                  • @ultramic: My point is to setup all future Payall from today

                    So 2023-25, 2025-27, 2027-29, 2029-31…

                    • @littlesoldier: Are these one off payments or recurring? I can setup one off payments in say 2024, but it won't let me setup recurring monthly payments.

What's the best way to maximise points? Is it limit 20k in payments per month?

                      • @rxjb: Its recurring "Regular payment" in the setup wizard
You can set "Start on" for a future date (up to 2033)
Then the "End on" will be allowed to be up to 2035

20k is the maximum allowed citi payall per month (per person, not per card)
but I saw some other OZB chat saying now they only allow up to 95% of a card limit

So let say you only have one Citi credit card, which is the Citi Premier in this OP, and the card limit is 10000 (eg. min credit limit of Citi Premier)
then max you can do for payall per month is $9500
If you have more than 1 citi credit card, then you set multiple payall per month
just make sure that each payall is max at 95% of the card limit, and the total amount of citi payall (across all cards) is $20000 or below

                • @nightelves: I got the free for life from the original Citi singature, so will likely to keep the card

                  • @littlesoldier: Hmmm so it's effectively cash in advance at 0% interest rate plus points if you set it up to pay yourself. I see now. WP. Way better than the 2% or so 6 months loan I've been taking from them.

          • @littlesoldier: What are you setting for your payment information - since Citi sets our specific categories? Curious to see if transactions ever gets flagged.

        • Ah I'm not aware of the October offer. That makes sense then.

    • +1

Doesn't Citi have a cool down / waiting period between cards?

    • I'm happy to keep my prestige for priority pass tbh

      • the Citi linked Diners Club card seems to come with access to many PP lounges, and can be had with just the base Citi Rewards card ($150 AF) as well as this Premier

    • PayAll is weird currently, only lets me setup two months rent at a time

  • +4

This must be the "Latitude got hacked so we want your business" sale

  • The rewards points one is better as you can use payall to meet the $7000 spending requirement.

Signed up for this last year.

Annual fee is prorated if you downgrade to the Simplicity card ($0 annual fee). You can then cancel altogether after the downgrade has been processed. Takes about a week.

The $600 cashback was applied on my first statement so you could probably get away with paying ~$15 annual fee.

    • @Flowerbomb

      • Sweet thanks both!

    • +1

Has anyone tried downgrading from Citibank prestige to simplicity to avoid the fee?

    • Hey mate , why would someone downgrade first before cancellation at let’s say about 10th month into the year ?

      • +2

To get a refund of 1/6 of the annual fee…?

        • Thanks , you are a proper ozbargainer. Salute!

    • Do you remember how long it takes to approve and receive the card?

      • Pretty quick, but I can't recall exactly how long, sorry. But my previous CC application was with ANZ which is notoriously difficult so I'm not sure if that says more about ANZ or Citi.

    • Hi there,

      Just wanted to confirm the steps here would be;

Spend $2000 via Apple pay or similar
      Downgrade to the Simplicity card
$600 cashback will then be applied to my first statement

Is there any chance of them not paying out the cashback if I downgrade before receiving my first statement? When is the $150 annual fee usually charged?

      • Hey, I would wait until after the cashback before downgrading. Annual fee was applied at the end of my first month. Even if you have to pay a second month of annual fee, it’s only an extra $12.50. Also I did all this over six months ago now so maybe worth checking that their policies haven’t changed. GL!

        • Thanks heaps! So the annual fee is charged over 12 months and not in one go? Appreciate your quick response!

          • @CyberHippy: It’s applied in one go, but you receive a pro-rated refund when you downgrade to Simplicity. So I would spend the minimum spend required, get cashback applied (hopefully in the first month), cop the annual fee, and then downgrade to Simplicity in month 2, and get a refund for 10 months of the annual fee. Pay the extra $12.50 for peace of mind that you won’t get the $600 cashback revoked.

            • @ufwpd: Makes perfect sense thank you!

              • @CyberHippy: Why downgrade to Simplicity when there seems to be no points earn on spend or Payall etc?

  • With Citibank is it 2 months payslip? Just started a new role.

    • +1

I remember only need 1 payslip when I applied Citi Prestige last year

    • you can give this new job's payslip and from your previous job. You can also share your signed offer letter showing your salary and, if any, bonuses and benefits that could increase your overall monetary package.

    • I was in a similar situation and they requested 2 payslips (i get paid fortnightly)

What is your feeling that NAB will end it ?

    • Yup, still enjoying the card to this date

      • And the linked Diners card for double points

    • I've had this for over 20 years. I use to pay the annual fees from the points. But I got a call one day to offer me waived annual fee. Happy with it since. Hope NAB dont kill it.

    • That's the one, I signed up with.

      Ah,…sweet memories,
and I've still held onto it :-)

  • How’s Citi’s policy on getting a refund on the annual fee after getting the cashback.

    • No refund prior acquisition from NAB
      not sure now though

    • +1

I asked Citi this last month and was told by support that the annual fee can only be refunded if no transactions were made after the annual fee is charged. Note the annual fee is charged 1 day after you receive your first statement, this is also usually the time you receive the cashback. However, I don't know if anyone has actually done this.

  • What's the deal with Google pay? I want to book flights through a travel agent soon. What are the chances of being able to use Google pay for that?

    • +1

Setup Google pay on your phone and then they ask you to pay just tap your phone.

  • +1

Can you still get these points if you've got the Citi Prestige? Might be the card I use going forward for PayAll, but don't know what credit limit I'll get - 10k won't be good enough.

Could be worth applying for and just getting the promotion - then see whether I change from Prestige to Premier depending on my credit limit. Worst case I get the points/cashback, best case I get $150 annual fee instead of $700.

    • I believe you should get the points / new card bonus
I applied prestige last year for the 300k rewards points while I have already got premier in hand
Still able to get the 300k points after meeting the spending criteria (via PayAll)

  • Tip: use Revolut card and top up it via Google pay

    • Revolut now introduce top up fee by credit card including Apple Pay

But I haven’t tried google pay yet

    • Yup I did this and got the cashback. Just be aware Revolut now charge a 0.76% fee to use GPay and some accounts may be more limited to how much they can top up. They also monitor if you cycle your money too much with this method.

      • +1

Not a big deal though. You still get 2x points so $2000 = 4000 points. You can then use these points to pay for transactions.

        4000 points = +$16.
        $2000 x 0.76% = -$15.20

        You're still ahead $0.80.

Easiest way to meet the min spend if all you want to do is get the card, get cashback in first month and then cancel.

I'm pretty sure these revolut transactions are not picked up as cash advances. They're seen as a
online purchases so for extra hardcore ozbargin style saving you can earn interest on these revolut transactions by withdrawing to your savings account @ 4-5% interest for 55 days (the CC interest free period).

        E.g. $2000 @ 4.6% 55days = $13.80 interest earned.

Hell, you can load up the full $10k min limit if you want and you'll make around $69 each 55 day cycle. Can do it 6 times in that first year to make an extra $400. Unless they catch on of course.

        • I agree it's still worth it with the fee if you are struggling to meet the spend.

However, Revolut also picks up if you top up and withdraw money too much, I've gotten a warning from them for doing this before. You don't need to do this anyway with Revolut since you can use Citibank PayAll to easily get 20k into your savings with no fee. In case you missed it https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/610776

          • @wangasm: Even better. I haven't used that feature, thought it had to be an institution or company you are paying but if it works with your own BSB/account then that works out better.

      • Fee really depends:
I had 2 transactions without fee, my wife still has no fee after several of them.
        Not sure how it works

    • You’d get a warning saying you’re in breach of its T&C if you do this a lot

    • Guessing you can just withdraw from Revolut to your bank?

  • +2

This would be good if not for the apple/google/Samsung pay limitation.

    • Theres the same card with a 200,000 points reward if you spend 7k in 90 days. Except I think its 150,000 points and an extra 50,000 if you stay with them for 12mo.

  • Can't see any ineligibility clauses with previous Citi cards - unless anyone sees otherwise?

    • +2

It's annoyingly undocumented but you can't have held a Premier card in the last 12 months. Other Citi cards are fine though.
