Spotted promotional QR code on a tub of butter I bought this week. It says "Love us or your money back" but it seems more like "try us out, it's on us".

  • haven't read the T&Cs but the promo page says buy 1 butter OR cheese, not AND. would suggest to me if you buy both that's your 2 claims. You could just buy 2 x butter or 2 x cheese instead.

    do the T&Cs read differently?

thanks, so i think the AND is still not right as you can buy 1 and not the other and still get the cashback.

        • +2

TECHNICALLY, you are right so I've updated the title haha

  • -2

Can't see where it says purchase before 30 april is valid

    • +3

Click on the 'Go to Deal' link, then read what's in the column on the right.

          • @dibdob: I'll stick with what the terms and conditions say

Claims must comply with these Term and Conditions to be valid

Rather than the website that's possibly an error

            • +2

              @spaceflight: https://mainlandmoneyback.com.au/coming-soon

This pages contradicts the T&C's. Usually in law the specific overrides the general & the T&Cs are the top of the hierarchy & would prevail.

Cheese isn't cheap, so I think I'll wait until the promo period officially opens before purchasing.

    • +7

      That's not a problem

Purchased prior to the promotional period?

Please hold onto your receipt and come back after 12.01AM AEST on 30 April 2025 and we will process your claim!

You can still go ahead and buy your items today and you can claim later when the claim form opens.

  • +2

Damn was hoping you could claim 2 cheeses (the vintage 400g is expensive), but its 1 butter and 1 cheese.

    • Where does it say you can't get 2x cheese?

      Edit: Just saw it:

How do they know per person? Do they use mobile numbers as identifiers?

    • +25

They use CCTV from the Coles dairy aisle.

      • +2

😂 They probably track it via email or mobile number

        • You'd think there's more to it than that with how common burner emails/numbers are.

"Love us or your money back"

Something tells me I'm not going to be loving my 2x Vintage Aged Cheddar Block 400g in 2 days time..

      • Could have been a bit more 'aged'.

I love the Mainland Vintage Cheddar I just wish it was still a regular special at Coles & Woolies but I'll happily take advantage of this promo

    • +4

It really is the best commercial cheese on the market.

Only problem, oh boy has it gone up in price. Remember the days of getting 500g for $6 on a good sale, now $9 for 400g is about as good as it gets.

      • +1

For sure. Even as far as brands go, Mainland is a trusworthy commercial one.

No. It's not approved for use in NZ.
Edit: Avoid the Mainland branded feta (some milk sourced from Denmark where it's been mandated).

    • You may also be interested… According to Australian Dairy Farmers, it is not being used in dairy herds in Australia as yet.

  • so that's 1 butter 1 cheese per mobile number. Got it!

  • -2

Damn just bought butter before seeing this and unfortunately not this brand

  • Can you do two claims on one receipt? Can’t work it out from the terms and conditions. Thanks for posting.

    • +3

What does "TCN Digital Prepaid Mastercard" have to do with this offer?

    • +3

the cashback is in the form of a prepaid mastercard i.e. a barcode and pin that you scan.

      • +1

Thanks. I didn't see it that in the wall of text.

  • Thanks OP

  • Can you upload a Woolies online invoice for this or do I need a store receipt?

    • Either one should be fine as they are both invoices/receipts.

    • yes, online is in the T&C

  • thx op

  • +2

what is the best options to buy to maximize the deal?

    • +6

      buttersoft and vintage 400g

      • I thought it is these 2:
        Mainland Cheese Extra Tasty Aged Cheddar Block 500g;
        Mainland Cheese Tasty Aged Cheddar Block 500g;

        9.80 at coles

        • +3

You need 1 cheese and butter… read T&C.

          • @dlovep: You are right. I tend to think that I can double up on deals if I drag my partner along with me.

    • +1

Any one that you like, paid with Flybuys or rewards points

  • +2

Make sure you leave geotagging on when you take your photo with your phone so they know your home address to make their data harvesting worthwhile…. /s Big Cheese is coming for you!
In all seriousness they will get from this people's actual: Full name, email, mobile mumber, place they shop, amount they will pay for product, home address via geotagging photo, mobile info (model etc). Majority of people still only have one email address etc and will happily give all this info for 2 blocks of cheese… I'm not going to read the privacy policy but I'm betting they can do whatever they want with the info.

    • +2

Take a screenshot when viewing the photo, send that screenshot instead, I doubt they will have all these extra information.

    • +2

      Colsworrh already have my data.
And so do the pirates via Medibank/ Optus hack, and they didn't give me any cheese.

So I might as well get some cheese for this.

    • +1

So sneak across town with a burner phone / sim you purchase specially for this promo. Use mailinator for a disposable email. Take a photo, scrub the EXIF data. Take 3 buses home in case they feds are onto you. Wear earthing/grounded armbands to ward off the 5g nanobots.

idk man, isn't every promo to gather data or promote something? It's generally (usually) bad business to give away free money to people, so I'm sure we all assume they want something from us out of it.

  • Got one of each butter and cheese. Thanks OP

  • Can receipts from Doordash/Uber/Milkrun qualify?

    • +2

      no :(

      • Participating retailers: any Coles, Woolworths, Aldi or Independent supermarket, in store or online

For clarity, in order for a claim to be validated, a Qualifying Purchase receipt must clearly specify:

      1. that the purchase was made at a Participating Retailer;
    • +1

They shouldnt but maybe ask the pickers to give the reciept in the bag, uber says not to give the recipet, but some delivery people do it anyways.

  • -1

Who's worked out which butter and cheese has the most value?

    • You're getting back what you paid. There's no profit maximisation. Buy what your tastes dictate. Or just buy the biggest items by weight.

      • I meant which butter and cheese cost the most

        • +1

          largest and biggest

        • +1

Why do you want to buy the most expensive?

          • @Charlie Dont Surf: I rarely buy this brand of cheese as is always so expensive, but it is very tasty. As such, with other (mostly cheaper) cheese I feel myself using more of it to satisfy the cheese taste I am looking for. One of the great things about Mainland Vintage cheese is that it tastes so good and strong, that you can often get away with using less. 20% less? I'm not sure.

But anyway, short answer, because it tastes the best and I wanted to treat myself.

    • +3

Get your poor ass on the Cole’s and Woolies websites and find out yourself

    • +3

Not really a valid point to neg this deal.
May as well neg all freebie deals where the product origin is from overseas [where we have domestic industry] with that logic.

At least it's free cheese/butter with the current struggle it is to afford groceries…

Edit: I may refer you to the voting guidelines

      • +1

You might be right about the neg and you're right about the voting guidelines, I wasn't aware because it's my first neg.

I think it's a product dump because of the reasons outlined below.

Again, I agree with you about the freebies - so I upvoted your comment.
