  • Can someone advise,

If I buy gift card and load into my Apple account, can I use that balance for instore purchase?

I plan to trade in my IP13 pro by end of the year and resign on carrier special so can only do this in store. I am concern above mentioned of keeping GC too long and get hacked.

    Thanks in advance….

    • -1

No, you can't use with instore purchase.
They will advise you to go online and purchase the product.

I believe what you can do is to trade in and get the store credit on your apple account then go online to buy it right away then ask them to help set up the carrier.

I am 100% sure what I think is correct, you can try check with Apple as well.

      • So basically you are suggesting to buy it first with GC credit in account plus trade in credit online, then bring the phone into store to setup the carrier offer and to get them to refund $1000 carrier contract credit🤔🤔🤔

Technically that shouldn't be a problem, concern is they return that credit into Apple account not cash….

Edit: Seems doing it my way only need to pay a few hundred dollars extra. May as well wait for special at supermarkets, thanks for the advise anyway.

        • +2

don't redeem the gift cards to use in-store.

"The Apple Gift Card can be used two ways: To purchase products at the Apple Store, bring this email to any Apple Store location before redeeming your gift card. For online purchases, go to apple.com/redeem to add to your Apple Account Balance."

          • @googoogaga: Thanks, like I said, using trade in plus carrier deal mean I will only need to pay a few hundred dollars. Will just hold up closer to the date I need and get special from supermarket.

      • Literally in the description:

"The Apple Gift Card can be used two ways: To purchase products at the Apple Store, bring this email to any Apple Store location before redeeming your gift card. For online purchases, go to apple.com/redeem to add to your Apple Account Balance."

    • This person is just making sht up mate. you can:

"The Apple Gift Card can be used two ways: To purchase products at the Apple Store, bring this email to any Apple Store location before redeeming your gift card. For online purchases, go to apple.com/redeem to add to your Apple Account Balance"

      • +2

the question is "If I buy gift card and load into my Apple account, can I use that balance for instore purchase?"

So the answer is No, I am not making sht up like you as you already answer it yourself.

        • Ah I get it, apologies. that's an important distinction I missed. I can't take my downvote back apparently (which is a bit dumb) but I think you are right than. sorry mate.

          • @Larsson: No worries, its all good.

            • @neohazard: also just ordered something over the phone from apple with the gift cards, and the guy said you can use the gift cards tied to your account in store… so I guess it's a bit mirky. I will confirm in store

              • @Larsson: hmm, interesting case

I bought apple watch for my wife a couple months ago, load all the fund to my account as I am afraid that the gift card may got hacked.
I went to Miranda and they said I can't use the balance on my Apple ID instore so I have to call the Apple Online sale person to get it ordered and put me into the store available pick up time.

Totally took a couple of hours to just get one apple watch.

              • @Larsson:

the guy said you can use the gift cards tied to your account in store

That guy was definitely talking out of his arse.
Account balance use in retail stores hasn't been setup for AU yet. Only in the US and some other countries.

                • @DoctorCalculon: Could very well be, I have had hit and miss with Apple info in general.

For example: chat said only phone support would price match and not the store. Phone support said physical store would price match. Store said they only price match physical stores and not the likes of Amazon….

                  So yeah, could be.

    Imagine Apple go bankrupt! Tonight!

    • Then the whole technology sector of the world will collapse, including China's. It means we have bigger worry about than a few thousand dollar worths of gift card

  • +13

Can't believe these are still available - potentially the biggest discount on Apple products ever

    • I'm tempted to grab another grand so I can buy my next iPad at a discount

    • They’ve been 15% off before when they first switched to Apple Cards from iTunes cards.

      • +1

I don't recall any place doing straight up 15% off as easy as this offer. Best i've seen is Colesworth 15% worth of points which is hard to come by

  • Just bought some, thanks!

  • More generous than Amazon lol. I need more restaurant choice 😩

  • Anyone know if Officework will price beat giftcards?

    • Totally forgot about this 😮

They did it before but it’s still up to their discretion I think.

      • +1

        I tried.

Their lame excuse for not P/M is: product type mismatch - they don't sell digital Apple gift cards.

        • Ah ok. Thanks for that.

  • How the hell is this still in stock and I managed to get the damn thing to work on my CBA debt card, on my phone + Edge and instead of doing 2 x $500 I did 5 x $200 and it approved and came through straight away and I did another 5 x $200 straight after and worked again. I also love how easy it is to redeem on Windows with iTunes, just click the link in the email then the link on the page that opens up and it auto redeems it in iTunes.

    • +1

Perhaps digital cards don’t have the concept of “in stock”

  • Oh no! 😱 This deal has broken the counter, mine reads 104H.

  • +2

I can confirm 133MAC was happy to price match amazon.com.au for the 2023 model Mac Mini M2 Pro ($1899.05 stacked with 15% off).

The price match must be like-for-like, you cannot option the SDD to 1TB etc…

  • +5

I don't know what I'm doing but this deal was so good, I bought 16 x $500 to get a MB16 M2 Max, an Ipad Pro 11 M2 and saving some for an Iphone 15 release + apple care.

    • +1

      I have no words….

    • +3

I thought I was overdoing it getting 10 x $500, so you've made me feel much better. :-)

  • +4

Just bought another 2x500$ gift card lol. Can they stop this deal now? I have weak willpower.

    • +2

I got 2K stocked up, got a 14PM last year so probably won't upgrade this year but might get a new watch if it's any good, still on the S4.

      • +1

        Dooo it!

      • +1

Yeah. I just recently bought a M2 air last month and 13PM last April so I might bite the bullet on a watch and AirPod pros. We shall see :D. If not, I’ll just use the vouchers for 15PM.

        • Should have taken the EDU MBP deal. AirPods Pro 2nd Gen cost comes down to just $180.

    • Will continue until Tuesday

  • Where is WookieMonster for the next predicted double stacking opportunity with a cashback site ?

  • +1

I would love to know how many of these sold.

    • About 50 million’s worth so far, will continue until Tuesday

  • I get "Transaction failed, please contact customer service." on two different credit cards. :S

    • +1

Make sure you check your credit card transaction history though - on the first day when all the errors seemed to be coming up I had 4 similar failures, and then a successful transaction later - but all 4 "failures" had gone through and posted as transactions on my CC …. pondering whether I keep them till the iPhone15, or just sell them on.
Make sure you check your Credit cards as the actual e-gift cards only came through much later via email

  • Looks like I can buy Final Cut Pro and/or Logic Pro in a discounted price….

    • May as well get the bundle - $299 for FCP/ ProMotion/ LogicPro/ Compressor and MainStage.
I originally paid $399 just for FCP

      • +1

Using educations store yeah? Do you own them forever and all updates?

        • Yeah, they're redeemed via the Mac App Store.

  • I grabbed these a few hours after it went live, and I still can't believe it is ongoing.
I wonder if Apple is using this as a mechanism to get people to buy their products (via themselves), and still make bank for profits.
In my case, the first transaction went through, the second one my bank (ANZ) suspected fraud, so they blocked the card - but never told me until I called up.
It was due to the online/ first transaction at the merchant/ rapid transaction nature. Once I confirmed it was all good, they released the temp block.

    • I wonder if Apple is using this as a mechanism to get people to buy their products (via themselves), and still make bank for profits.

Reserve bank: "wtf Apple? y u do dis?"

  • Thanks just grabbed 2k. No idea how I missed this deal earlier lol

  • Use amex platinum edge card can earn 3x points as well. :)

  • Bought $5k worth of cards and picked up a new laptop… now just noticed the same laptop on sale at HN for $4,500 :(

    • +1

Apple should be able to refund the price difference within 14 days but still up to 10%. I did that for an ipad years ago.

      Or just return and repurchase.

    • -1

Can we use more than 8 gift cards in a transaction?

      • -1

        No.

        • ok wondering how come mattyf was able to use $5k worth of cards since we were only able to get a max of $500 per gc.

          • +2

@samdmpr: More than likely he uploaded the gift cards to his Apple account balance.

      • +2

You can use gift cards to load up to $4,999 into your Apple Account Balance, and then on checkout you can add another 8 gift cards. Assuming the gift cards go up to $500 max, you can checkout up to $8,999 worth of goods in a single Apple Store transaction, i.e $4,999 from your Balance plus 8x $500 cards

        • Is it possible to use apple account balance in store purchases?

      • +1

        that's it :)

  • -1

I wonder who is footing the cost of the 15% discount. It won't be entirely Apple.

  • Still available just bought some

  • Gift cards bought with Visa debit (transaction processed/approved) have not sent after two days. Is there a contact number to call and check the progress?

The gift cards bought with a credit card on the other hand were sent within 4 hours, no problem.

  • I was so tempted, but decided to sit it out. Having bought the iPhone 14 Pro, I could not think of any reason to buy anything else from Apple anytime soon (like most OzBargainers, I guess whoever needed or wanted a Mac or iPad already got one for themselves thanks to endless deals here).

This deal is a no brained if one need to buy something right now or in the near future. Otherwise with the current interest of ~5%, stocking up and keeping thousands of Apple gift cards for 2 more years or so for the next iPhone upgrade is probably not worth it imho, given you could almost always get them at 10% every second week from Colesworth whenever you need.

    • The only reason why I stocked up is because I'll probably upgrade my watch this year, plus I have Apple One so it's nice to get a discount on that. I love that this is a cash saving too not some reward point thing you gotta worry about.

      • Fair enough. I’d stock up too if I planned to buy something this year. But I have seen some stocked up to $5k for future purchases, and I’m not sure if it’s worth it if they don’t plan to buy in the next year or so, in the current climate. Not to mention impulse purchases due to sitting on a large amount of gift cards.

  • +1

Got some for Apple One subscription and for monthly Apple Care subscription.

    • How do you pay for the Apple Care+ subscription with gift cards?
I can only see credit card as a payment option.

      • +1

don't redeem it to your account- go instore and buy 3 years worth

      • +1

Mine is setup to debit from Apple credit first if possible then default to credit card. It works for all my Apple subscriptions.

      • +1

On your iPhone go Settings -> Your Account -> Payment and Delivery -> Payment methods and add Apple Credit as an option.

This will only work if you have Apple credit balance so you have to add the gift cards to your account first.

  • 35k clicks. Well played, Coles. Well played.

  • Still available, just ordered 200 * 10, and they arrived at my email a few minutes after purchasing, very nice :)

    • Should've bought 500 * 4

      • I don't know if it was a coincidence but I had constant failures with 2x500 cards and the next day I ordered 5x200 cards and it worked instantly, I don't know if thats because CBA got their shit together overnight or if the 2x500 cards were being weird.

  • +1

Thanks OP got m2 pro Mac mini for $1500 with the unimelb pricing stacked with gift cards

  • just bought a iphone 14 pro max 128gb for 1789 price matched to harvey norman.

  • +2

thank you OP and to all those who shared their comments/experiences re phone price match with Apple. I just did it now, and it went smoothly. I was on the phone with the Apple guy (133MAC) for 15 minutes. They price matched the Iphone 14 plus 128GB for $1,421.10. I used $1,400 gift cards from this deal (15% off) and paid $21.10 via credit card. Fantastic!

    • With which retailer did you pricematch against get the $1421 price?

    • I used $1,400 gift cards from this deal (15% off)

Did you scan the GCs into your Apple ID balance before calling 133MAC?

      • Yes, I did this

        • How does it actually work? You give them your appleID and they transact it? Or do they send you some sort of digital invoice to pay through your Apple account?

          • +1

@kojihama: Every time you call Apple, they verify your Apple ID ownership by sending a push to all of your trusted devices.

  • +1

Surprised this deal is still online ("Offer available from 15/3/23 7am")
Didn't work on my debit card of choice (failure to invoke the 2-step payment verification stage), but my 2nd choice worked.

  • +1

Damn great deal, thanks OP! I’ve got my 2 grand of gift cards ready for the iPhone 15 pro, but is it smart sitting on these for 6 months when I could pick up the 14pro?

    • +2

Aha, that’s how they want you to think! If you bought the GCs with the 15 Pro in mind, it should only be 6 months away—resist the temptation to blow your wad prematurely.

      • +1

Haha you’re right, will go ahead and do some deep breathing and ensure nothing is blown prematurely

    • +2

I'm in the same situation with you. The question to ask yourself is: "do you need a new phone right now?". I'm happy to hold on my iPhone X for another 6-7months so I will wait

      • +2

True, I don't need it right now so I'll take yours and @fraxinus advice. I'm on the X as well so it should be quite a fun jump getting a hold of the 15 pro after 6 years using this old beast. Amazing how well the X still runs but don't want to get to a point where it starts to really slow down and lose updates/compatibility etc.

  • I'm stuck at payment details loading…

    • Got it now, wasn't working with Firefox for some reason

  • -1

Holy crap am I glad I saw this deal. Thanks OP, will future proof any purchases I make at Apple.

Even if I didn't buy the GCs I still come out way ahead saving 15% than making 4.6% on the cash I'd save by not buying these gift cards.

  • Does the Apple education store price match?

  • For some reason with my card it only went through when I did the $100 gift card but nothing above it. Worth trying $100 or below if you are having issues with your card
