the only benefit to this deal is a slightly slimmer case and a extra year on the warranty, not really an incentive to import imo over dick smith http://dicksmith.com.au/product/GE3001/sony-32-quot-hd-lcd-t…

Are the warranties on these things global?

    • Sony probably is but even if not, Amazon will refund the postage if you have to send it back because of issues within the warranty period. No risk there.

  • Do European TVs work here? We had to leave ours in the UK when we came to OZ to live. I don't know much about electrical stuff but thought I might bring this up just in case.

  • Mine works and a lot of people here have bought TVs from overseas, mainly Germany. They all seem to work and there is no reason why they should not. Same voltage, same picture technology (PAL), same DVB-T, DVB-S, DVB-C etc. With the UK, they sometimes like to put in little "extras" to force people to buy in the country.

    • Can you receive all the local channels if you buy from places like Germany?
