Finally, the gouging by Joyce is starting to subside - probably as a result of the ever increasing interest rate hikes …

    • +2

Probably as a result of the fast-sinking AUD.

    Thanks FFA.

Question, often we see sales to Cali, does Qantas usually ever discount or have Dallas in their sale options?

    • +3

I think it's because Qantas has a monopoly on the Australia to Dallas route, so can charge as they please. On the Los Angeles routes for example, there are up to four airlines flying nonstop between Sydney and Los Angeles (Qantas, United, American, Delta). So you tend to see cheaper flights on that sector.

  • I've never booked with Qantas points
Got some from a cc deal
Are these good value to book with points?

  • I really wish it didn’t cost more than twice as much just to fly to Vancouver. Might need to spend a day in SF to save a fortune.

    • The problem is that a typica hotel in any US city (3 stars or higher) is now upwards of A$400 per night. You could get one for A$250 if you're prepared to stay in a 2 star hotel. Inflation over there has really destroyed the value we used to get. A 5 star hotel in SF will easily set you back A$600+ per night.

  • Really considering via Vancouver, but the price for 997 is via trip.com, way more expensive via directly Air Canada. Anyone has experience booking via third party like trip.com

    • Will you get a PNR? Yes.
Need to cancel/modify or due to flight cancellations? GOOD LUCK

Wonder if there is a way to do a longer layover in Vancouver?

you can stay as long as you like - try playing with dates using the multi-city option

  • Meals included for sure but …..

On the 2 flights on Qantas to Auckland and return last month - meal was in a small box and nothing else. Not even tea or coffee let alone a salad. Dessert was a Lindt ball!

    • Yeah the difference is between a 3 and 14 hour flight.
You will get 2 full hot meals, unlimited hot/cold snacks and drinks throughout on MEL-LAX.

Still going to be an expensive trip with current AUD vs USD plus the tipping culture.

    • I remember the days of 2013, where we had the joy of seeing the AUD to USD at above 1/1

  • What’s the going rate for flights from Perth to uk these days with the war going on and endless price hikes are we cheaper today than say previous months or more expensive and still rising.
Looking to go august or September so not sure best time cheapest time to book.
    2 adults and two kids.

I think I have 60k plus velocity points but sometimes it’s more complicated or akward using them.
Would also need a connection flight from uk to other part of uk but just wondering best time to bite and book.

And where best places are to check prices and compare I believe it’s mentioned that if you search one site you need to do something so that other sites don’t give similar prices as seems to track your finds.

It was mentioned in news little while back flight prices was good to drop a $1000 is this true or happened and would it be cheaper to get someone uk side to book or best from this side for various reasons.

  • I don’t see any of these prices at all. Are they all sold out one day later!? The cheapest I see from any of the Melbourne flights for August are 1350+ and they require you to book via kiwi which is a third party site. Why not direct with qantas? Or am I missing something.
