      • Thanks, wonder how long it lasts on turbo mode compared to v15

        • Roughly the same. Boost mode isn’t for regular cleaning though, particularly given the adaptive suction and higher power compared to older units. Best used for non agitating tools like crevice cleaner.

  • I've been waiting on a deal for this! Does anywhere do a decent cash back on ebay? I see shop back has 6% on dyson store.

  • While I don't know how good it will be, Dyson Week will start on the 9th of March.

  • Hey OP, the suction power of the Gen5, how does it compare to the DC39, still using that at the moment.
Carpet household, except for kitchen and bathrooms which are tiled.

    • Looks like the DC39 was 275-280AW compared to 262 on the Gen5. What you’ll want to keep in mind is that performance can be comparable to older corded units for floor cleaning even on lower powered stick vacuums given the assistance of the powered, motorised floor heads which make the machines more efficient. My old v11 absolute cleans carpet at least as well as the latest big ball animal for this reason, and my Gen5 does even better. To get the best out of it, definitely worth using the fluffy optic head in the bathrooms and kitchen, and the motorbar head on the carpets. Worth going in store to have a feel and try one out if you have a retailer suitably close.

      • I've got the Turbohead for my DC39. Are the new motorised heads for the stick vacs that much more efficient?

  • Went into Castle hill store just last weekend and he said there wouldn't be any deals until end of the year …o well i might for Black Friday deals

    • Unfortunately the frontline staff basically never get the inside scoop, and don’t know. Head office works in mysterious ways

      • Any idea what the "Dyson Week" is like? Worth waiting for or pull the trigger on the above deals?

  • What’s the general lifespan on this model? I have a v5 that’s lasted 4 years so far and going strong after a battery and filter change.

    • Very hard to assess as it's only been out for a few months so far. As an owner of older Dyson units however, I've noticed several changes to improve durability so I'd expect it to last a long time if used and cared for properly. Glad yours is lasting so well!

  • Trust my luck, just bought the v15 complete a few days ago

    • Did you buy direct from Dyson? if so you have a 45 day money back window. Bugger when that happens!

  • @Anthropomorphised do you know what Dyson Week is about? I saw an ad fit it and signed up for its announcements but unsure it's anything special.

    • Unfortunately I have just as much a clue as you. It's a retail event run by the dyson direct retail team and the company is very compartmentalised so I don't have visibility.

  • D15 has roughly same air watts. Ball cleaners still work better, more air watts, more suction. The motor head just ruins carpets. Fuzzy carpet from relentless spinning to replace suction.

    • The V15 has 230 vs 262 on Gen5. Pickup performance on carpet became roughly equal at 185AW on the V11.

Carpets should be cared for using manufacturer instructions. ost carpets are completely fine with motorised heaads, however those with loop or twisted designs can be damaged.
It's important to refer to your carpet manufacturer prior to purchase to avoid risking your carpet's warranty if unsure. This is an issue I've only had with one customer in approx 4 years however, and in these cases yes corded vacuums are best.

  • Dyson Week sales are utter rubbish. Zero deals on the new Gen5 ㅠㅠ

That is typical of when a new model comes out, it's rare for there to be deals within the first 6-8 months depending on demand. This is reflected in deal posts for new Dyson units if you look back
