  • Onvif?

  • Are these I.P. Cameras or some form of closed environment?

    • IP.

  • How are you getting that price? I see 166.68

    • @stiggz did you use the coupon code "REOLINK740"? I'm getting $134.82 with $4.04 tax & $12.26 shipping.

      • use usd currency to get $128 I believe

    • Set the website to USD and pay with a intl fee free card like ING, Up, HSBC. Better rates across all of Aliexpress.

  • I can not get the coupon to work ??

  • Reolink's RMA process is terrible if you buy through a different supplier. They refer you back to the supplier rather than handling it directly.

  • Does these cameras 'callhome'?
    I've been reading different reports.

Personally, security cameras is personal (hence security) so I don't like the idea of someone else looking at my camera for whatever reason they think is valid.

I have a Reolink RLC-410-5MP and it attempts to reach out to p2p.reolink.com and pushx.reolink.com every time it boots up (I have it set do daily reboots) but I have no idea what it's trying to send. My firmware is a little old so this is probably the low watermark for what you can expect.

The reality is that you cannot trust any manufacturer's guarantees or what randoms on the OzBargain comments section say. The easiest way to ensure you're not being monitored by creeps online is to configure your router's firewall so the camera cannot reach the Internet.

True. Check what happened to Anker/Eufy. Got caught red-handed with their pants down.

I just statically assign addresses and don't give them a real gateway or dns. Saves the hassle of separate vlan etc.

Spies… eufy and Huawei security risk all over again.

Is there even a privacy statement ?

Ideally you put them on a VLAN and isolate them from web. have thirdparty software handle web access like homeassistant. Though reolink has issues with Frigate and other platforms requiring h.264 i think.

    • I guess most people think the same, we're just little people.. why spy on us?

But not all corporations/Govs think the same… ^_^

Thanks guys. Appreciate the answers/recommendations. I'll put it on an isolated network cheers!
