I order one with this packaging a couple years ago and if I remember correctly the drive came in a plastic pop open case that was inside a padded brown envelope.
Gets rid of the stupid plastic clamshell that you need to tear open with 90% of your entire body strength plus 3 different sets of scissors before you grab the Victorinox knife in frustration.
Would these be suitable for a Synology cache disk?
Yep, should do the job nicely
Check what form factor you need. My Synology 918+ needed a m.2 nvme drive for a cache drive, so this 2.5 inch sata drive is wrong size and wrong interface.
Yes. But I didn't find significant difference. I tried to remove them (reuse them on my PC) but can only remove 1 safely. Need to spend more time finding how to remove the 2nd :(
To clarify, this is to whack into a spare bay, not the NVMe slot. Some SSDs don't have endurance, hence the question.
$180 now
Seller is listed as ISRAR FAREED ADREESI at this price so be careful with that particular offering. I'd steer clear from non reputable sellers.
This community has a serious negging problem. Screenshot
Sweet. Bought one for my rpi
Is this better than bx
Significantly better as it has DRAM cache. I.e. could be used as a system drive.
Way better. It's TLC rather than QLC, it has DRAM cache, the endurance rating is higher and the speed is much faster.
BX500 are crap.
These are great drives for systems without NVME. I've had mine for a while and it's great.
I use this in my PS4, it's great
Thinking about using one in my ps4, base model. Is the improvement really noticeable ?
For GT7 at least, yes it was fairly noticable.
replaced xbox one s drive with this one after it went bad, significantly reduced the loading times
How hard is it to replace? Do you just plug it in and it will reformat it as an internal drive?
I think my One S drive is a bit dodgy, console takes a while to load and update things, just seems sluggish overall.
I replaced the drive in my One S too, it's not that easy to replace internal drive as it is on a PS4.
When I put back together my console I also can't work out how to get the power button to work again, I just turn it on with the eject button or the controller now.
To setup the drive partitions you need to connect it to your computer and run a script first.
Download v9 of the script here-

https://gbatemp.net/threads/xbox-one-internal-hard-drive-upg…@Agret: Thanks, will put it on the backburner.
For $10 more you can get it from Amazon au
Is it not easier to deal with Amazon au for warranty issues to the neg voters out there ?
good point.. and would oz consumer law apply vs not via amazon US?
If I'm sending something back I'd rather send it within AU than back to the US.
@Clear: Any amazon returns I've had to to go to the return centre in Sydney including OS purchases.
@EightImmortals: Even better
@EightImmortals: Yes for within 30 days return but not sure about warranty.
Any amazon returns I've had to to go to the return centre in Sydney including OS purchases.
same for me
I am assuming the law supports only 1 or 2 years vs the 5 year warranty the drives come with.
@[Deactivated]: The Australian Consumer Law doesn't have defined periods as it is based on a reasonable expected period. Through case law though any mobile phone sold on a plan has to have a warranty as long as the plan. This has then resulted in expectation that those models that are sold not on a plan would have the same warranty expectation.
@whats up skip: Then it's better to verify from Amazon and order. And have a written reply from them as proof.
@[Deactivated]: Sure. While it may be difficult to enforce, any company selling retail products to Australian consumers are subject to the ACL. The ACCC has successful enforced the law on at least a couple of overseas based companies.
@whats up skip: thanks, nice to know
Is it not easier to deal with Amazon au for warranty
Yes of course.
It's a greater than 10% increase in price for an item with a failure rate below 2%. Not really worth it even if we assumed Amazon wouldn't offer any support for US purchases (which isn't the case)
Amazon is Amazon. You can deal with them easily regardless if it's AU or US
Nice first post OP!! Keep up the good work
Good ps4 drive, for your ps5. Mine is hanging out the back of mine in a USB 3 to sata converter, means the premium ps5 storage freed up
While this is a reasonable price, I think we will continue to see the price of SSD continue to fall due to the price reductions in the spot NAND prices. This of course assumes the exchange rate doesn't change.
Right, I have been reminding myself the same thing when I consider getting one for use in a 'someday' project
Great price, been waiting for a discount on a good secondary SSD for a while. Thanks OP.
Could these be used as external SSDs (in a case?)? Looking to upgrade my Time Machine backup external SSD.
If yes, any recommended cases?
I use these ones, never had any issue

Only 1 rating in Sept 2022, but it is Amazon, so your call if rolling the dice

Ordered one , thnx OP
