If you don't have one of these yet, get one!

The Eneloop of standard use knives.

    • +3

Can they slice through an Eneloop?

      • Yea of course

      • Eneloop
        Along come these knives.

        No-more-loop.

      • Yes. But you'll be charged.

  • +1

    Minimum of 2

    • -1

yea should just be min 1.

    • +1

Dual-wielding for maximum vege chopping efficiency.

  • +3

I got these last deal. I sliced my thumb knuckle deep just taking the shitty protective sticker off after it ripped when I pulled from the tab. Stupid way to package them. They are the sharpest knives I've ever come across.

    • +7

That lightbulb moment of "ah that explains the comments"

  • +4

    Thanks for this, ducks.
Bought a pair last year for same discount and they are fantastic. Gradually replacing my old steak knives - 2 pair at a time! :D

  • +3

Good for gardening, I use one to cut around my sprinkler surrounds.

    • Ha.
I did same years ago, with an old ikea long serrated knife (intended purpose??) installing yards-worth of rolled turf. Cut through dirt, grass, roots with absolute ease.

  • +6

CamelCamelCamel shows that this was $6 a few days ago.
Will be setting up an alert and waiting for it to drop back down.

    • +1

Yup it was and for $5also

      • +6

        $5 was paring knife.

        • My bad , that’s corrct

      • The coloured ones usually drop to $6 not so much the black and even blue. The other link is a completely different knife as Ehty stated.

        • I've had the black in my saved for later list for ages and it's been $6 for the majority of the last 2 months.

    • Do you know why some items camel3 can't track? No matter how I pasted the correct link as usually

  • +3

I got 2 of the red ones from a previous deal (red because they go faster, and disguise the blood from when you slice yourself)

So far, pretty damn nice knives. Effortlessly slices tomatoes / tips of fingers.

  • +6

Someone in my household put these face up in the dishwashing basket like an absolute menace

    • +1

same and i pricked my finger on the top of it wasnt nice haha!, always check the dishwasher from now on

  • -1

How long do these knives usually last? 5 or so years?

    • +3

My mum got hers about 12+ years ago and they are still sharp as anything and obviously these dont require sharpening.

  • -1

Price has gone up, these are normally $6

    • -1

I wouldn't call the usual price $6 when it was that price on only 3 occasions in the last 12 months. Since Jan 2021 the average price with all price fluctuations has been $7.95

      • $6 is the usual LOW price for these, as it has been twice in the last couple of weeks on Amazon alone.
Other than some spikes, price of these normally sit on $7.

  • +1

What if I want to cut something other than steak and tomatoes??

This is how big knives get you.

    • not very long blades, so not the best if you buy large tomatoes and like to slice in one stroke instead of sawing back and forth ….

    • A leather shoe?

That’s the good old-fashioned test they used to show.

  • These are SHARP! One of my employees cut their finger at a major event recently, and we were short staffed for 15 minutes. I also cut my finger slightly, but it didn't bleed. Stung though.

    • Username checks out

  • Watch out for your fingers! When it cuts it makes sure it cuts deeply

  • This is a sharp knife. Bought a pair of Red recently, just used it for the first time today and cut my finger.

  • Excellent knives. And yes they are sharp don't cut yourself

  • +1

These are Sharp. I cut my carotid artery trying to slice a tomato.

  • +11

    Why is everyone cutting themselves?

  • -4

PITA that it's a max of 5. Lots of people want 6 or 8 for their dining set, and it's no surprise you need to order at least 6 to get free shipping, which isn't possible.

    • +6

It's free shipping with Prime. You buy 4 and 2 in seperate transactions. Max 5 per order but you can order multiple times if you want 6.

  • +2

I assume everyone cutting themselves is a meme? Are these actually good?

    • +1

I haven't cut myself yet but can confirm they are really really good - in fact my dad's favourite knife.

    • +2

They're very sharp. I haven't cut myself, but I can imagine someone else who's used to blunt steak knives cutting themselves.

    • +1

I gifted one to a friend and they call it "the knife that cuts people" in his house

Another one asked where I got them because they were the best knife in the house

I think a lot of it comes down to the serrated edge lasting a lot longer and people never really sharpening their knives

    • For me, it was not realising that even the very top rounded part of the knife was ridiculously sharp.

  • -6

Oh give it up with the "cut finger etc." FFS comments and learn to use a bloody knife.I've been using these for many years and never cut myself.

    • +1

People like to be dramatic these days. Or they’re idiots. One or the other.

      • +3

Confirmed, I'm an idiot and cut myself. They are indeed sharp.

      • +1

Your point could apply to both sides.

  • Yup. Great multi-purpose knives.
    Absolutely love them.
Over Xmas, even sliced up a lamb roast with them.

A must buy if you haven't sliced and diced with them, and at this price… Just do it.

  • Received 2 of these as an engagement present almost 14 years ago. Still sharp and going strong, even with use multiple times daily. It really is just the go-to knife.

Comments about its sharpness are true, I have a scar on the back of my hand from about 10 years ago. Shouldn’t have been cutting towards myself, but you live and learn.

  • +5

I told my 2 housemates to be careful when I purchased these, less than 24 hours both had bandaids on after using them

  • +2

    Damn. Minimum qty 2.

Anyway, bought 2….. Not too worried, I've got 10 fingers after all

  • +3

Wife required a skin graft on her finger when she used one to open a freezer bag and missed…
    9/10 fingers recommend.

  • Wavy edge?

    • Yep!

    • Wavy bye-bye to your digits?

  • +1

Great Knives, and they can still be had same price from a local store with no minimum order, and cheaper delivery for those without PRIME.
I'm not associated, but think its good to support local stores when we can and when they do good!
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/750905

    • +1

Yes technically correct but remember for most people the price of driving there is uneconomical.

      • +1

actually delivery is cheaper too - unless you have Prime.
You're right on driving, I wouldn't bother posting if it was only an in store bargain.
Also I've updated the other post with a 5% coupon via ebay which makes the knives themselves a dot cheaper too (thanks @BargainsGrabber)

  • interesting, i think i'll get a couple

what are people using for knife blocks? we have some cheap rubbish that came with equally cheap rubbish knives

    • By all my research, I should’ve thrown all my plastic ones out, cos they’re nasty & harbour hidden germs & muck. Apparently timber is the real solution, self healing, natural, anti-septic etc etc

  • Am I crazy for ordering some of these for use at dinner with the fam? Or are these more suited to cutting exhaust pipes, bike chains etc?

  • 2-bucks shops, wollies, coles, aldi, kmart, bigw, target sell them?

    • If you can find these for $2 please post. Or any other location shipped for less than $7.

    • Are you asking a question or are you just posting a rhetorical question?

    • Easy answer no

  • +1

Yeah, it's sharp, took off the tip of my finger

    • 5% off? Post it.
