    Is this really a deal?
They were posted from the same shop 8 days ago for $6

@rwps $7 is the standard price, OP why would you post again 8 days later for $1 more?

@Jessie Ryder: as the previous deal was expired, and my ozbargain email this morning had the lesser Amazon deal up front so thought it worth putting the updated (potentially better) deal up.
If $7 is the standard price, then the Amazon pricing is odd to be seen as a deal.
Just trying to get people to see a better local option

            • @rwps: Have a look at Camels, Amazon price has been $7 for 48 of the last 52 weeks.

I'm not across their standard price but most stores have them at $10:

And there's a popular current post for them on Amazon at the same price with a minimum order that Peter's don't have, so I figure a better deal.
I wish they were still $6 too

At risk of offending the OzB purists, has anyone tried these made-in-Brazil Tramontina Plenus knives? They look similar, have good reviews, and are cheaper if buying multiple:

    $29.68 for a 6-pack (ie. $4.95 per knife), delivered:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Tramontina-Plenus-Fruits-Knife-6-P…

Or if you want more than 12, they are $3.95 per knife, plus flat $12 shipping:

NOTE: I have a bunch of the Victorinox ones, so don't throw stones at me.

No stones :) I've got tramontina knives too, and their serated edges are pointier than the victorinox, and they tend to rip things like tomatoes or bread more, so I prefer victorinox but Tramontina are good!

  • I bought 2, am actually terrified

    • as you should be. These things are sharp enough to split atoms.

  • Yes, the meme is true. These are super sharp. Though something that I haven't seen mentioned yet is that these do blunt relatively quickly if your overzealous on porcelain tableware. Mine are about a year old and the front 1/3rd of the knives serration is no longer sharp.

    • time to invest in a chopping board eh

    • they do blunt quicker than some, and with their straight edged knives the flip side is they sharpen quite easily too - I think they have a softer alloy. I know my Messermeister chefs knife holds it's edge longer than our plastic handled Victorinox chefs knife - I like them both for different uses though
