Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? Yes, for all Boost prepaid customers and it is currently on trial until 3 April 2023
From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including Nov 30 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack.

    I've been looking for a deal on a 365-day plan :-(

    • Struggling to see the offensive nature of this comment but sure, neg the guy 😁

      • +2

        Sorry, I don't understand why it's offensive.
Well, I have been trying to buy a 30-day SIM for months, but never been able to complete the purchase, either that's CR or Boost's fault. Thus I have given up.
On the other hand, I'm also looking for a 365day SIM. The last time that a Boost365 deal came was like 3 months ago.

Anyone else had issues activating? I can't do it on the website, some generic error appears every time. I'm with Telstra at the moment. And when I read reviews I see a lot of horror stories of activation taking forever, and worse Boost refusing to let you port out later. I'm currently sitting on a 28-day SIM.

Port out for me was instantaneous. No issues activating but i think it took forever to get it activated

      • Cheers. No doubt it was cause of the Metric system.

What are you simsluts doing these days for out of boost before going back in?

    • Why do anything? One of these every week provides all the data I need.

I have a prepaid mobile with ALDI costing $5 per year to receive calls.

      • It doesn’t work for existing customers though right? So you have to port out and in.

        • +1

Why port? You don't give this number to anyone. It's just used for making calls (if any) and using data. The year long $5 ALDI number is used for receiving calls. Best used with a Dual-SIM handset but you can also carry two phones. A dumbphone with a week long battery for the ALDI SIM and the smart phone with a crappy may not last the whole day battery for the Boost SIM.

I use Messenger, Whatsapp, Skype more than the actual phone for making calls and sending messages so the data is the selling point.

@mysterytal: Not everyone is like you. Some people actually make calls and send sms/ mms out of their regular number.

          • @mysterytal: What love and bargain said. I do have a dual SIM phone but not being able to make regular calls or SMS using my main number is not ideal.

Also, every week? You must have a lot of phone numbers under your name! Maybe you're on some government watch list haha

Still can't buy it. It's been a few days. 🥲🥲

    • +1

      I couldn't buy it since months :-(

  • Has anyone here tried using one of these in a Telstra locked device? I usually buy cheap Telstra sims and activate them on a phone plan before putting them in my 4G data dongle.

    • Using it in lieu of the backup 4g Sim inside a Telstra smart modem gen 2. All stock setup, minus NBN connection.

  • At the check out, the payment details part does not let you put in any details.

    • Yep, I got the same issue. Since months

    Price is back to $40

    • +1

The price is still $12. Make sure you enter the promo code.

      • +1

Yes, just realised this. Ignore me!

        • Oh dear. I did not notice and got charged $40! How sneaky, as the coupon code is automatically applied in previous promo.

  • how easy is it to change plans after 1 month

  • Thanks!

  • +3

At checkout get >> SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG

We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.

    Coupon invalid when applied

    • Should work now, just bought one with coupon code.

  • Gone, but the $10 40Gb one still is there
