  • Just in time for my racing hobby. Thanks OP

    • Let me guess… it's WMMT?

      • +1

its obviously OG daytona usa they are referring to

        • +2

Ah, those were the days. Walked into Timezone last year (after many years) - was gobstruck that there isn't a permanent place in every arcade for a Daytona machine.

          What's the modern equivalent?

          • +2

@andresampras: Usually Midnight Tune, Mario Kart (yes not direct replacement but still)

          • @andresampras: Probably something that has an upgrade system that requires you to pay micro transactions on top of your play credits, like how guitar hero arcade requires you to pay two bucks every time you want to play a song that isn't in the "free" section

      • WMMT got way too complicated… I miss the days when there were only four tracks, 800HP max, etc…

      • +1

Mario Kart, needs more practice to dodge the red turtle shells.

      • It's Mario Kart

  • Good deal, i was about to buy that yesterday

  • Can you use it for bowling?

    • +2

Yes, I played the short lane bowling at Parramatta Westfield with my timezone card’s credit.

    • +2

i wish bowling places had "pay by the hour" sort of deals, rather than "pay by the games". I was in the US over Christmas, and went to a bowling place, and you payed $10 (or whatever) per hour, and you can play as many games as you want

      • +2

bowland group alleys do them. Looks like only SA and one in Vic

        • I thought they did archery at BowLand

    • They refused me. Said these can't be used for bowling

      • Which bowling place was this? was planning on going with this deal and using the credit at Timezone/Zone Bowling at Forest Hill…

        • +3

Dee why if i recall correctly (or Chatswood) in NSW. They said bowling isn't "Timezone".

          • +3

@archieduh: Assume that ‘used for bowling’ would mean the smaller sized bowling inside some time zones (with the smaller balls etc) that you activate via card.

            Not regular kingpin/amf style bowling.

  • +4

My daughter had a lot of fun with the last deal, we didn't even chew through all the money. $60 well spent for $120 of hands-on games that would otherwise cost tens of thousands to have in your house. The prizes you get from the shop are just a bonus really.

  • +1

Great, thanks. Will be able to utilise this at GC on Saturday with my 2 girl's.

  • +2

Much better deal than the last promotion. I knew a double credits wouldn't be too far away!

(now if only I could stop wasting my double credits/NSW vouchers/etc on skill tester games)

    • I have this same issue hahah

  • Can we use the $50 Ultimate Kids giftcard from previous Coles deal and just pay the $10 differences (or just use 2x $50 giftcard for the $100 reload)?

    • give it a try, they seem pretty accommodating at the counter

  • Does the card have an expiry date?

    • +1

Expires after one year of non usage

      • +2

The 1 yr reset if we top up though

        • it said 1 year after last use ..so not sure if adding money would be classed as “use”

          • @TrustNoBody: so the expiration will be renewed after every use? or from the first use

            • @bcYield: i took it as everytime you go there and play the 12 months would start again

    • My card was last used in 2018 and credits still valid today.

  • Neat! Which timezone in Sydney is better?

    • +7

Come to Top Ryde where I work.

      • +1

IMO Top Ryde has the 'fairest' of the skill tester machines. Haymarket is next. And Chatswood is just impossible (only won once).

        • +1

My kids now all know to avoid thanks to Mark Rober

          https://youtu.be/Rsxao9ptdmI

At least chances of winning at casinos are regulated

        • If by “skill tester” you mean gambling machines targeted at kids, then yes, I know exactly what you’re referring to.

This could be one way a gambling addiction starts.

Timezone should have restrictions in place to prevent children using such machines, much like Holy Moley at Alexandria, where their cards can restrict usage and exclude machines of a gambling nature.

Timezone must to more to prevent this scourge on society from spreading, and if their competitors have implemented restrictions, why haven’t they?

      • When I was at Top Ryde a few weeks ago, many of the machines (at least 15 were out of action or had a fault).

It was only an issue with the timed deal that you can buy with bowling.

        Hopefully it is fixed now.

      • Macquarie is quite bad. Shop is small and crowded. The good games been removed like the one which sprays water. That one always run out of water at top ryde

    • Haymarket

      • Hey-market

    • +1

not in sydney though, recently visited Canberra and the king pin there is amazing,

we also like the chatswood timezone.

    • i go to villawood but weekends are packed …i noticed yesterday there was one at liverpool but not westfields it was where krispy kreme is

  • Excellent. Been waiting to use my discounted GC

  • +11

I love these double deals. My dad used to take me to the movies followed by the arcade and I love replicating that for my own kids. $50 for $100 credit and then take the kiddos to the movies afterwards (Reading Cinemas - $10!) is something I cherish, even as the kids are now teens.

    • some of my kids are teens and they still come out with me to places like that ..when i was a teen i rarely went with my mum just friends

  • Do you need to go into a Timezone to get the card?

    • +5

Yes you do. But once you have the card you can top up on the app and still get the double credit.

      • Cool, thanks.

  • can kingpin cards work at timezone centers and vice versa?

    • yes

  • Don’t have a powercard.
Can I do this online or need to go in-store to get a Powercard and load this?

  • +2

Great deal! Last deal was in Nov 22, still has plenty of credit left, but used a lot during the holiday. These deals come often enough, so never reload other than half price deals!

    • same as me , the half price promo are a good deal especially when each game is like $2.70 or more ..
i have used the mcdonald’s monopoly prize where you get unlimited game play for 30 mins but can’t get reward tokens but it’s really good deal that one ..tz do sell the set time play cards as well ..

  • Can you play bowling with timezone card?

  • Is it true your credit expires if you don't use it for a year?

    • yes

    • Last time I asked the staff, she said it's expired after a year even if u use it. Only way is to top up, to extend the validity (all credits would count from the last topup date, not the last usage, according to her). Not sure if that's correct. Anyone can confirm?

      • That’s what I was told by the staff as well

        • +4

          That sounds kinda illegal….

          https://consumer.gov.au/new-gift-card-laws

(I'm assuming these are basically gift cards)

          • @andresampras: I suspect noone has challenged on it… but yeah I'd be interested to see if these end up counting as gift cards. I was reading the NSW version of it but couldn't find anything conclusive: https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/buying-products-and-servi…

            • @jace88: Hm I wonder if the line below (my highlighting) is their get-out-of-jail-free card:

In March 2018, the law was amended to give consumers more rights. Since then, most gift cards and vouchers sold in NSW must also come with:

              • a minimum expiry period of three years
              • no fees charged after your purchase (excluding some processing of payment fees (eg overseas transaction fees, booking fees).

There are some exceptions, the main ones are if a gift card or voucher is:

              • given by a business for free, as part of a rewards program, or as a bonus when buying something
              • a prepaid card for phone or internet access, and ATM, debit, credit or charge cards
              • exchanged for goods returned to the supplier
              • sold for a particular good/service that is below the market value of that good/service (a genuine discount)
              • sold or donated for use in a fundraising appeal, including to a charity or not-for-profit organisation

Similar laws will now apply across Australia to gift cards supplied to consumers from 1 November 2019. These new laws apply under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

The national laws are very similar to the gift card laws in NSW, but they include that gift cards must also prominently display the expiry date as either the full date, or as a period of time.

              • @andresampras: Armchair lawyer (not a real one) makes me wonder if "particular good/service" needs to be specific like a token to redeem for a specific product on promotion.

                • +1

@jace88: They might also be able to argue point 2 re. prepaid cards…

Either way, their 1-yr policy is mean and they are mean.

      • Can anyone confirm I need to top up in order to extend the validity?

  • If I use gift card to get credits, do I still receive the bonus?

    • +2

Actual timezone gift card? No idea.

But Ultimate gift card should work since it's just a credit card from Timezone's percpective

      • Did you have to use it in store or can it be used on the app?

    • +1

Can confirm it works with timezone gift card as well

  • +2

Did i miss something here re 'double the cocktails?'

  • +2

    FYI

WILL MY TIMEZONE GAME CREDIT AND POWERTICKETS EXPIRE?
Powercards will expire 12 months from the last in-venue use date, at which time any unused balance and Powertickets will be forfeited. App reloads do not count towards extending your Powercard expiry.

    WHAT CONSTITUTES “LAST USE”?
Using your Powercard in a venue to play games, load credit or redeem prizes.

  • Last time I tried to use $50 gift card on 60 load and split payment, they told me remaining $10 could only be paid in cash.

Has anyone been able to use 2x50 cards to do the $100 load?

    • +3

I did. Bought gift cards from WW on discount and went to Heymarket TZ to top up. It worked perfectly

  • +1

Noticed redemption prices have gone up. A Yupi used to be 50, now 60.

  • would this become the next Deliveroo?

  • Can someone help me to know:

    1. If powercards can b used to buy time play (30 min/60 min option)

    2. How strict is timezone when they sharing is not allowed for time play. Can't my 2 kids use same card? How would they notice if I try to use it for 2 kids

      1. They don't care. Not at all.
    • downside is you can only tap once a minute or something like that, might not be the best experience with some of the games that end quick.

  • Is KOKO now the owner of Timezone? All the old timezone venues are now changing to KOKO in Sydney CBD (the one in Event Cinema and the one opposite).

    • No thats a separate business.

    • Not sure what you mean by old timezone venues as the KOKO venues you mentioned were not previously Timezone. The one in Event was bought by iPlay before closing and the new KOKO in CityHeroes Pool took over Legends Gaming Cafe, not Timezone. Plus the one opposite was a brand new arcade venue.

    • Only the George St one turned into a Koko…the rest are still Timezone…

      • Also one at Burwood

    • I am wondering if KOKO would match this offer.

  • Does this mean i can use kingpin gift cards at timezone?

  • The 160 and 250 reloads in the app are also double, even though it says only the 60 and 100 were the promo

  • Any expire date for the credit?

  • Could we share one card between two people?

    • +1

You can't split reloads onto two cards. But there's nothing stopping you tapping your card on any game machine for anyone

  • Can the Shopback ultimate kids gift cards be used in the app for those of us not visiting a Timezone store in person?

  • I've noticed Timezone has $22 for 30mins play, does this deal essentially make it $11?

  • +1

$10 credits for new app sign up

    • is it creation of account or just logging into app for the first time?

Edit: ah I see the conditions, just need to fill in email and phone number and wait for voucher, then scan voucher at a store

  • +1

Ultimate Him card not working for me, getting really sick of Ultimate cards not working at most the places they are supposed to online

    • That's the reason I don't bother with those.

    • https://www.ultimategiftcards.com.au/card/him/ does have timezone and kingpin
      You mind sharing why?

      • +1

Getting an error when trying to pay. No idea why, I have been seeing a lot of issues with Ultimate cards and paying online at participating stores recently.
