Thanks! Sorry, forgot to mention the idea was to have a solid platform where I can just upgrade the GPU down the track without swapping out other components. But that seems like a bad idea now. Think I'll go with a lower tier CPU.
Yeah "futureproofing", while nice, is generally a bad idea from a value perspective.
I have the exact same intention as you - Just bought this.
For the rest of the build:
Mobo: Asus X670 (expensive - but thinking of going all out)
CPU: 7600x
Ram: 2x 32gb - 5600mhz or greaterDown the line (say, 3-5years) I'll upgrade the cpu and gpu to the best I can. Hopefully by then prices will be "back to normal"
Also hoping no PSU upgrade will be needed in future
Am also thinking about putting this card in the H1 V2. Going to take a gamble as this card's thickness is slightly outside of the H1 V2's spec (card is 62mm according to OEM, V2 supports up to 58mm). Hopefully no major modifications necessary (probably have to remove the dust filter to fit it).
On a 1440P, get the fastest processor you can. 4K dont worry much. Also 7800x3d wont be cheap and you have to pay the AM5/DDR5 tax.
FREE International delivery March 6 - 22. Details
Or fastest delivery March 6 - 16.this is a Amazon USA sale. what you should think about before buying how much are these cards selling for in the US right now and our dollar is currently @ 71 US cents.
free delivery very generous of them and a big mark up on us Aussies.
Interested in your working for saying we get a big markup?
Aussie version is actually cheaper, see my previous post.
Price though is USD614 (AUD871) (does come with 2 free games). Still better off buying Aus version.Definitely. Easier to deal with Amazon Aus if there's any issues.
selling right now in US plus two free games for $520
Can you get the free games with this deal?
That price looks to be for the 'Fighter' edition. They wont ship the 'Red Dragon' version to Oz (Currently at USD649.95).
Think you're looking wrong - it's on Amazon.com for $750 + shipping here
This includes the two games too.
Can anyone speak to the RMA/Warranty around this card?
Specifically purchasing via. Amazon AU and for PowerColor as I am a little wary. Thanks!
RMA is through amazon, they organise it all to/from and will refund if youve taken all care. they even pay the return costs
Thanks!
Would it just be for 1 year as I know Nvidia for example has 3 years on their cards.
Just tried to do an RMA through Amazon, they originally refused to handle it and said I had to go through manufacturer which required sending to Hong Kong. Eventually Amazon gave in and rather go through a repair they asked for it back and refunded it. This was after 1.5 years.
Am I going to get a box of face masks?
Sigh, I just bought an XFX QICK 319 - RX 6800 for $796 from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and it arrived a few days ago.
Kinda annoyed that If I'd waited I could have nabbed this deal but ohwell It arrived just in time for my birthday so I guess that beats waiting till March for it. Still it works, I wonder if Amazon would take it back without a 'restocking' fee…..Also, does anyone know if the build quality is better/worse on the Powercolour card vs the XFX 319s?
6800 uses less power at least
Has anyone had their order shipped yet?
Separately, does anyone know how we can claim the 2 free games? The promo ends on 4 March and mine is due for delivery between 1-6 March. So I'm assuming there is no way to claim the free games if it arrives after 4 March.
mine hasnt shipped yet too, and its even showing as in stock for 933.
wonder whats going onI ended up cancelling and going for the 7900 XT deal - Local pickup and warranty was a big selling point
Same here
Mine shipped today
Congrats - I'm keen to hear how you go with it - The 6800 XT is definitely a great card for the price.
Fingers crossed I don't get sent a brick in a box! But if all goes well I should see a pretty significant increase on my ancient card which is limping along with only 1 fan still working.

@macfudd: You held out a while - The difference will be night and day - and worst case scenario I'm sure the Amazon returns process will be smooth.
I came from an HD 4850 :P@DV0993: The 4850 was a great card. I put one in my parents PC and it's still going strong. Though it's probably still overkill for them even now haha.
The 6800 XT arrived yesterday so it comfortably beat the original expectation of 6th-16th when I placed the pre-order. Installed it yesterday evening. I was expecting it to be massive but other than being about 12mm thicker than my R9-290 (and therefore covering up an X1 slot too) the height and length were pretty similar.
The card is a lot sturdier and doesn't sag because of the solid back which is nice. Installation was super easy but then had the normal PC joys of other things going weird - in this case it was my soundcard decided to stop registering. So had to open the case up again, remove it and re-add it again to sort that.Ran a performance test comparison before & after and graphics tests were showing about 2-3 times faster. Then I went to try a game and realised that I had uninstalled almost everything because my old card kept overheating or had driver conflicts. The most advanced thing I could find was Doom 3 lol. The 6800 didn't even need to run it's fans. Tonight I'll install something a little more modern!
@macfudd: Congrats! I'm glad it worked out well!
There aren't many interesting games out there that would put the 6800 xt through its paces. Im sure it could run Hogwarts Legacy very well with RT off!
Update to the latest drivers is a must and even a slight undervolt will drop temps drastically (but not necessary)

If it's just for gaming I would consider saving yourself several hundred and grabbing a 5600/b550/ddr4. The 7800x3d would be double the total platform cost if not more, and I doubt you'd see much more than a 10-20% increase in fps at 1440p.
