Problem is that it is quite close to school holidays, and that they cant be used in school holiday or weekend periods (fri/sat/sun)

$8 for a ticket is good. But it only valids from Monday to Thursday makes it less attractive. No school holiday or public holiday even less so.

It's valid for 9 months.
