Lenovo Tablet M10 3rd Generation $199 @ ALDI

690

Lenovo Tablet M10 3rd Generation
Decent price, Even on Amazon the best price it's been has been $246 accorinding to CCC
On amazon it's currently $249, but i couldn't find the best price on CCC as when i put the URL in CCC it shows it as the 2gb 2nd gen model

I can't speak for what stock quantities will be in your respective area.

As far as performance, i can't speak for how it will perform, but i imagine it will perform as good or better than similarly priced (non aliexpress) tablets, Especially as it's priced similar than the previous generation of the same tablet by other sellers.

Please don't start comparing this to other tablets going for 3-4x the price.

Unclear if it comes with a cover, it shows a cover in the photos, but doesn't mention it in the description

Got the 2nd gen one for 0.01c from the Lenovo deal. Not a bad device, 4GB is minimum RAM these days so it can be laggy when multitasking.

    • I've got the 128gb/6gb version and it's CPU is plenty fast enough for daily use. Not sure how much the 4gb variant would suffer in performance.

      • +1

        I've got the 128gb/6gb version

Tab M10 Gen 3 is only available as 32GB/3GB and 64GB/4GB versions.

If yours is 128GB/6GB then it's something else. Maybe Tab M10 Plus Gen 3?

    • +1

It's aldi, just buy it, if it sucks they takes returns no questions asked

Hey mate, I got one of these on release with the famous $100 gift voucher for Lenovo Club which bought it down to $199.

It's a great tablet. Beautiful screen, great battery life and quite fast. Latest version of Android also. Also has four speakers in stereo so is good for non headphone sound.

Do NOT buy the genuine Lenovo covers though. They hold the tablet in with magnet only and do not protect the sides of tablet. Tablet will easily slip out and smash as happened with my P11 which was three weeks old :(

Better off with a generic folding cover off of Amazon that tablet clips into and protects in falls.

I have forwarded the link for upcoming sales to family members as a recommendation also so not just lip service.

Good luck in grabbing one :)

      • +1

interested in the cover, can you post a link .

Hey mate, this is for the Plus

ProCase Lenovo Tab M10 Plus Case 10.6 Inch 2022 3rd Gen, Slim Stand Hard Back Shell Protective Smart Cover Case for Lenovo Tab M10 Plus 10.6" 2022 Release -Black https://amzn.asia/d/7LRs4rc

There would be equivalent for the non Plus

      • +2

Scratch that, mine is a M10 Plus Gen 3! So it has 2k screen.

Highly recommend dishing out a bit more for the Plus, it is gorgeous to view

I got this when Lenovo was giving out free money, and I think it's ok, but it can be a bit slow. Perfectly fine for streaming and emails etc. I sold it because I wanted a tablet with an OLED screen, like the Galaxy S5e, which I also had and sold. Once you watch something with an OLED, you can't go back.

  • Wow, Aldi getting into the computer game now. soon we will have Alienware on special buys.

    • +43

Aldi have sold computers for a very long time. Medion PC's from Aldi were quite a good deal around 2008-2010ish

    • +6

Aldi will sell whatever cheap crap they can convince people is a “special buy”.

      • +6

why would they need to convince anyone?

if people don't think it is not a special buy, then don't buy it.

        • +12

why would they need to convince anyone?

Because the entire point of marketing is to convince people to buy things to generate revenue for a business…

It’s this new thing called capitalism.

          • @PainToad: again free choice,

just because the products are put in the center of the aisle in the special buy section
does not means it would convince people to buy it.

if you don't think a product is good deal or need it, then you just walk past the item.

ads / marketing are shown every day on tv to try to convince people to buy the product…
most of the time people just ignore it or change channels

            • +11

@pinkybrain: Are you trolling or just not reading?

I never said people have to buy them.

              🤦

              • +7

@PainToad: Shhh, he's arguing against the voices in his head, but replying to you

                • -4

@mickeyjuiceman: I think some people really drink the Aldi cool aid and can’t stand any perceived negative comments.

Their marketing over the years has done an amazing job at convincing people they’re “the good guys”.

Their business model is basically to have an entire store of cheaper home brand products and then brag about how much cheaper they are. However when you compare them to Colesworth’s home brands it’s actually basically the same. Just without all the convinces of express lanes, self check out, scan and go, click and collect and delivery.

Same with their “special buys”. 99% of the time it’s cheap crap that’s available on Amazon for cheaper. But it’s from Aldi, so it must be a bargain…right?

                  • @PainToad: I haven't bought anything from Aldi for years (apart from some work boots last year and they're awesome), but I'm just amused by the obliviousness of the other poster :-)

                  • +4

@PainToad: Not always. I bought some gardening and garage tools 5 years ago and their batteries, all of them is perfect working. Made in Germany drill bits was amazing. Made in Taiwan tools is fantastic good. Drill Bench stand I bought last year is a way better that Bosch's similar from Amazon, wich is bad quality but double price.
Actually ALDI batteries is all Samsung's li-ion good quality and with built-in balancing charging, rather than for example Bosch's batteries, which has no balancing circuit even in blue Pro versions batteries. And again Aldi batteries is much more cheaper.
But I agree, some "special buys" from Aldy is a full crap, unfortunately.

                  • +2

@PainToad: Generally Coles / Wooly home brands I have found to be of poorer quality / taste. But yes this is true.

Meat at Aldi is most certainly cheaper.

                    I eat a lot of Turkey mince. $5.79 at Aldi, $11 at Cole's/Woolies. That's a huge difference.

Also, special buys get discounted often When they are, they are most certainly cheaper than eBay. Furthermore, you get a good warranty with Aldi, which most of the time you do not with eBay sellers.

I agree, sometimes its overstated - but I've bought some very good special buys over the years and my shop is most certainly cheaper at Aldi than Coles / Woolies

                  • @PainToad: Their special buys are usually rubbish, but their goods are better than the home brand stuff at coles/woolworths, and just as good as the branded stuff for a much lower price.

Since they have been around woolworths have introduced better quality products under new brands, like the woolworths macro brand.

They operate on lower GP%, there is no argument that they are cheaper

                  • @PainToad: Colesworths off brands are nasty, mostly Aldi stuff is decent and in some cases excellent

            • @pinkybrain: Mate, a lot of people have no idea what a tablet processor or configuration is. Plus many wont even have reviews to know how they are. So lot depends on marketing.

          • @PainToad: Like the “limited time only” crap Maccas sells.
Price is high, product is small.

            Advertising costs money, I spose.

        • +1

You get 60 days to determine yourself if it is indeed a "Special Buy".

    • +2

Inwas selling Acer and Benq to Aldi by th2 container when they first opened in AU.
People would buy the s#17 and return it without questions and in turn they would send ir back to us. Boxes missing, cables taken, driver disks etc. Was a nightmere…
Was BS as people return for no reason at all.
Good for consumers, but for business. Ha!
To which, id then move the goods on to auction brokers on ebay. Ha!
Then again, good for consumers and public.
Aldi, oh how i hate you when it comes to a commercial relationship.

  • +3

Op the Amazon tablet it’s a different one. It’s the plus version with 2k screen 10.61 and better processor.

    • +2

yeah just noticed, i fixed it

  • +2

Hmm, might be good as a Home Assistant wall panel??

    • +2

      yeah that was my plan

      • +2

I have the M10 as a wall panel for HA and dislike it. The battery protection mode continually turns the screen on to tell you it's at 60% and there's no way to disable it

        • I am also thinking to use it (mostly) as a HA control panel.

cplagz, how recent is yours, and are you running Fully Kiosk Browser on it ?

      • +1

Was thinking the same thing. Although what is your plan for wall mounting?
I've tried smarthomemount before and the mount is pretty decent but ends up adding $100 AUD (after shipping and currency conversation) to the total project cost.
Wondering about butcher-ing a hard case next time.

  • +2

Unisoc T610, compared to the Samsung A7 the performance is a little slower, but so is the price.

IPS LCD in this is also better than the TFT LCD in the A7.

4gb RAM is enough to not be a lagfest.

I would recommend it for the price. Keen to see if anyone can recommend a better tablet in this price range.

    • +2

I have the Alldocube iplay50 with 6gb, t618 and 4g. I bought it for $136 during Black Friday. Amazing tablet for that price.

      • what is the ram size?

        is it laggy?

        • +1

Not laggy 6gb. After Black Friday it’s has been around $150, on offer (so just keep an eye on Aliexpress). Great little tablet. Only 450 grams 10.4 ips 2k screen

          • @fozzie: how big is the storage?
            how big screen and resolution?

            how compare to this tablet,
in terms of spec and price/value, which do you think is better

            • +3

@pinkybrain: I think the Alldocube is better, since it has a better screen and my model more ram. 64gb storage (upgradable to 2tb via micro-sd), dual sim 4g (only one if you pop in micro sd).
The screen it’s also bigger and 2k (2000x1200). Battery is 6000 vs 5000.
However, it comes from China so I’m imagining it will be harder to get it fixed if it goes bad.
              I used PayPal in case.
From Aldi you will have no problems to get warranty claims. Also you get a free case (an Alldocube case will be $12-15 extra)
Alldocube iplay50 seems a better tablet, but there is no Hd Netflix or Disney. It is also pretty slow at charging, even a bigger charger still charges at the same speed.
Despite these negatives I love it since I only paid $138. If you find for under $150 it’s a steal.

              • +1

@fozzie: I got the Lenovo at Aldi. I'd say the case doesn't count for much, if you need something that actually cushions a fall. I ended up spending the extra $20 on new cases for myself and mom.

The major disadvantage there for me of your Alldocube would be no HD Netflix (and yet, who needs Netflix when one has Streamio?).

                • +1

@wisdomtooth: I don’t know about stremio, I use teatv and all streaming apps. Saying that I watch most content on telly

            • @pinkybrain: Are you reading @fozzie's comments? He's already answered all your question before you have asked

          • +1

@fozzie: I believe it's 4gb ram. After lots of searching around I did find a comparison store that sells these exact model. That's in UK https://www.very.co.uk/lenovo-tab-m10-3rd-gen-4gb-64gb/16008…
They sell it for £179 but it was previously sold from the same site at £129 . I hope that helps

    • +2

Keen to see if anyone can recommend a better tablet in this price range.

      @Clear

      • 🙏

    • +6

I'm with Fozzie on this one. The alldocube iplay 50 is a really good buy and best value for the price currently. Next AliExpress sale I'll be sure to have a deal.

The iPlay 50 Pro for $200ish on sale is a good buy too. I summarised it compared to the iPlay 50 in my last deal below

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/751541

      • Hey clear, I dunno if you replied the last time I asked, but do you have any suggestion for entry level tablet with active stylys support? A kid needs a tablet for school, and I want them to have full note taking ability

        • +2

I replied and techno below me had a good suggestion. Lenovo seems a good choice.

          • @Clear: Oh sweet, thanks! I'll bookmark it so I won't forget for next time!

    • Looks perfect for kids tablets, without waiting for aliexpress.

  • +3

I haven't had an Android tablet for years, but I am wondering if the situation still remains, that most apps for Android are not really made or optimised for tablet usage? With iPad you generally have a totally differently designed user interface compared to the iPhone version of the app, but in my (admittedly quite old) experience, for Android it tended to be the same app as for mobile phones and when it's designed for a small portrait screen, it doesn't work very well on a big landscape screen. Has this improved? And what are the apps people mostly use these Android tablets for, other than Netflix of course?

    • +5

Yes you're pretty much correct, but most people are using tablets for media consumption - reading, videos and web browsing, so it's not very important.

If you want to actually do work then a $200 Android tablet is not for you.

    • You are right, but since Android 11, I think, you can override portrait mobile phone applications to set-up landscape mode in settings. On yearly Androis you can use some apps, which allowing to do it as well.

    • +1

Same as your phone apps obviously, browsing online, movies, reading ebooks, everything internet like shopping/email, and many people use them to draw pictures. Real estate agents use them with all-in-one property management programs to take photos of properties for sale and rental inspections with attached or recorded voice notes, musicians to display sheet music and practice tutorials…

There's 2-in-1 laptops too though which are lighter now without CD-ROM drives, larger screens too, which fold all the back so they're flat like a tablet. I'm thinking they make more sense with tablets only getting one (or no) updates, where a Windows 2-in-1 will get security updates for ? years. e.g. https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/laptops/yoga/yoga-2-in-1-series/yoga-7-gen-7-(14-inch-amd)/len101y0016. You can get a bigger screen, don't have to hold it in mid air, and go back to using the same device for everything.

Ten times plus new than the price of this, but they've been around a few years now so there's older models secondhand.

    • Tablets are nice for pfds and annotation. Also good for handwriting if you have a pen. Definitely best for watching videos

  • +1

    this or samsung A8 128gb/ 4gb ram 10.5 inch??

    • definitely

    • How much is that tho?

  • "…MicroSD card, supports FAT32 file up to 128GB, exFAT file up to 2TB…"

    A 128GB FAT32 file? I'd like to see that.

    • +2

Good pickup, Fat32 ceiling is at about 4GB right?

      • +2

It should say partition rather than file. Not really worth worrying about, I don't think Android will format as FAT32 natively

      • Nah, I've got a ~1TB FAT32 veracrypt drive.

    • +1

      "file system" implied I assume

  • +1

    Will this run Roblox?
I need to get another tablet so I can get my kids off my iPad

    • I dunno how intensive roblox games can get, but it should run. Saw it running on other entry level tablets.

Problem is, if roblox is anything like Minecraft in that the more stuff you throw at it, the slower it runs, they may see lag.

    • Kids play on a galaxy tab 5e and A7 lite, the A7 has 4x2.3 + 4x1.8ghz CPU & PowerVR GE8320, the M10 gen2 has the same (can't find specs on M10 gen 3). Although compared to the 5e its FPS is horrid.

  • +1

Hm M10 and Apple is only up to M2. This thing must fly!

  • +6

I purchased a teclast T40 Pro last year for about $250 and would recommend it to others. Currently find it <$AU$250 on aliexpress. It has 4G and GPS. Most samsung and lenovo in the same price range don't have 4G. Specs for the M10 don't mention GPS either.

I use my teclast as a car head unit. Use it to play music over BT to my actual head unit and for GPS. Have it split screen so 1/3 is music/album art and 2/3 for waze. I managed to get a really good deal on a data only SIM card family add-on to my mobile plan so use that in the tablet for Nav and the occasional podcasts.

$250 was a lot cheaper than getting a new head unit or modifying the factory one.

For those interested I have a BT-3.5mm receiver that I have plugged in my centre console and a magnetic USB-C charging cable for easy connect/disconnect. I've also made a custom magnetic mount that fits in the CD slot. I was using a cd slot I purchased but it was slightly too big so I made my own low profile one.

    • +3

A good tablet, but the Alldocube iplay 50 pro with the Helio g99 will have better performance and battery life, for around the same price. It also has a headphone jack so you don't need to worry about bluetooth at all.

      • +1

yes, there are better tablets for the price but.
        1) Is this local or something you'd buy on Aliexpress? what would happen if it breaks?
        2) Lenovo has Android 12, and an upcoming upgrade to 13, does Alldocube release updates?
        3) is it Widevine L1?

I ended up going with the local Lenovo, rather than one on Aliexpress due to those reasons,

        • I was comparing to the teclast T40 Pro only. I agree, for the vast majority of people, dealing with foreign firmware, lack of widevine support and no warranty I wouldn't want to be the one recommending aliexpress tablets to them.

          Which lenovo did you buy?

    • +2

Can you pot a pic of your setup in the car?

    • Can you share a pic? I like the cd slot mount idea

  • We bought the Plus version from Amazon a couple of weeks back for $250-$300
In fact, there was another tablet I was interested in getting, and mentioned whether I could swap it to support.
Rather than sending me the other tablet, they sent me the same, as if mine were broken, so i have 2 at the moment!! (need to return one)

    Anyhow.
The screen is gorgeous in 2k, the software is not bloated, the speakers are great, and it will get Android 13 soon (now on 12)
only downside is that it's a bit laggy on the launcher.
the apps seem to work well without lag, but somehow the launcher lags, I even changed the launcher and it's still a bit laggy.

  • +2

My 6 year old has been using the 2nd gen for the past year or so. Good device which runs minecraft fairly well and all his other games he installs on it. Battery life is decent and have had no issues at all even after it has been dropped many times.

  • 10.1" screen size

I wish there were more 12" to 17" tablets (like the Samsung ones but not so heavy they could double as a boat anchor). Then there's the one to none OS updates problem. Might have to settle for a 2-in-1 (laptop with a screen that folds all the way back to flat) like the Yogo.

    • You can yogo any where you go

  • MicroSD card, supports FAT32 file up to 128GB, exFAT file up to 2TB

    11a/b/g/n/ac, 1x1 + BT5.0

So that means wireless internet access only, correct? i.e. No data (or 4G) SIM slot?
