    No "On the Buses" 😒

    • +2

You can watch "On Strike, the Buses" instead.

      • What about "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em" ?

That doesn't appear to be available either? 😒

        • +3

          Are you bring served?

  • Thanks for posting. I noticed it on Prime and was wondering when this deal ended.

  • +8

A spy among friends is my recommendation.

Line of Duty for anyone who has not seen it before.

    • +3

Take an upvote for 'Line of Duty'. Brilliant show.

    • Upstart Crow is good too. Ben Elton comedy.

  • +6

Time for a The Goodies Marathon…

    Edit - Well… just seasons 1, 3, 4 and 10

  • Does anyone know if it's feasible to set up a standalone streaming device with a VPN that I could dedicate to running all the free UK television apps (BBC Iplayer, ITV etc.)? That way when I want to watch them, I just need to switch the input source on my TV and use the streaming device remote?

    • +1

Chromecast with google tv might fit the bill. I took mine with me on an extended family visit and I was able to VPN back to Aus and use all the streaming subscriptions. As long as you can get a good enough VPN I guess. Watch out though as a lot of streaming services block VPNs so do some research.

    • +1

Yes, we have a gl.inet box for that. Used to use software VPN but just easier for multiple devices.

      • How do these work? Do you still have to pay ongoing VPN subscription?

        • +1

Just wait for another deal on NordVPN, comes around quite often (ie 96% cashback) so 2-3y subscription costs stuff all.

Works great on Google TV for region Changes with the apps. I sideloaded HBO max which isn't even in the Google AU store.

May look into BBC iPlayer too if it's free.

I've got IRLtv for free to air channels, haven't tried loading up alternative playlists.

    • +2

I have all the UK streaming apps (apart from Channel 4) installed on an NVIDIA Shield. Need to install them with a VPN but can run them with a DNS redirect. It works well.

Channel 4 is the problem as cannot get an app, even people in the UK can struggle. If anyone has any ideas, please post them.

We're currently enjoying series 3 of Happy Valley on BBC iPlayer - UK TV at its finest.

      • Hey, what DNS redirect service are you using? Are the DNS addresses publicly listed?

        • +1

I use smart DNS proxy for which I pay $35 for 2 years. I've never had much luck with free DNS addresses.

Have a look at streamlocator hub. A bit pricey but very good and very flexible to use.

      • +1

Install open browser, I use it on my Google TV. Then you just navigate to channel4s website and bookmark the page.

A bit clunky as you have a mouse on the screen, but once you play your episode and click full screen it's all good. Perfect for the new season of Love it or List it!

        • Thanks, I'll give it a go.

That new series Simon Bird (Will from The Inbetweeners) Everyone Else Burns looks good.

      • Awesome! Nvidia shield a bit pricey for my needs. Do you know of any reason this method couldn't be used for a fire stick or Chromecast?

        • Chromecast, I'm not sure but I've seen plenty of info online about doing this with a Fire Stick

    • +1

People tend to rubbish them when offers come up on here but I just use GetFlix DNS for this instead of a VPN.

I've had a lifetime account from some deal on here for years and years and although things like Netflix stopped working on those accounts, things like BBC iPlayer, ITV etc are just fine. More than had my monies worth and would be more than happy to pay the same right now if I didn't have it already. They also throw in some VPN stuff which in the past I've used for torrenting (some nodes allow it), normal popping out in another country etc. See if they have a trial, or try any of the other geo-unblocker DNS services.

    • I sideloaded surfshark onto a fire tv stick and use that for occasional region switching.

  • +4

Worth it, just to binge the brilliant series 'Only Fools and Horses'

    • +3

Totally agree, Lovely Jubbly deal, your be a plonker to dismiss it.

  • BBC player with UK vpn, and you can have all the Brit content for free

    • +1

Have you a link for it Firestick or Nvidia shield thanks

      • +1

Just connect the shield to a UK VPN and install the BBC iPlayer app from Google Play. Then use a DNS redirect (smart DNS proxy works) on the shield to view content.

        • Cheers mate thanks for the reply, sorry but what's a dns redirect?

          • @Francis82: https://www.smartdnsproxy.com/

You change the DNS settings on your router or device in order to make it appear that it's in a different country. It's pretty easy to do and there's plenty of info online about how to do it.

            • @R4: Brilliant thanks very much for the helpπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

  • +1

Renewed. Watched all the shows in the last deal. Time to catch up again. Cheers OP

  • Anyone know if they have more seasons of Would I Lie To You since 2 months ago?

They had the same 4 seasons as iView but with a few more episodes and better quality, last I saw.

    • +1

Brtibox has seasons 8-15 of WILTY

Season 16 started a few weeks ago but isnt streaming anywhere though you can watch it on BBC iPlayer with a VPN.

  • Missing Taskmaster, Mock The Week etc but has got things like Cats Does Countdown, Would I Lie To You and Peep Show

Not bad but if I need a VPN to watch the others anyway no point

  • anything good on there

  • +1

It's worth it to watch Spitting Image … but not worth the ongoing cost.

  • +1

I've used this service in the past, it's okay for a buck but I wouldn't pay full price for it…

Not when you can get everything on the BBC iPlayer for free!

  • +3

Classic Dr Who and Blakes 7 yesss!

I want to know where I can stream Catweazel and Goodnight Sweetheart?

    • +1

Catweazle is on Britbox UK but not Australia.

Goodnight Sweetheart is on Acorn TV

      • +1

You can have a +1 for Catweazel. I only discovered this December just gone thanks to a librarian. Love it!

  • +2

If you sign up with Amazon Prime, it's a hassle cancelling. You need to do a live chat, etc. There is no button for automatically cancelling your subscription. I have been caught out with various add-ons to Prime Video, including Britbox in the past.

    • +2

I signed up and cancelled Britbox with Prime yesterday, as a test, through my account. I had done it previously with Paramount Plus as well.

      https://www.primevideo.com/region/fe/settings/channels/ref=a…

Channel Renewal Date Next renewal price
BritBox Ends on Feb 24, 2023 A$8.99/month Restart Channel

      Cancel should be there.

      • +1

Fair enough. I had about five subscriptions including Paramount Plus a month ago (all those recent promotions before Xmas) and there was no provision to cancel automatically. Each subscription would say, please contact Amazon to cancel.

Thanks though. (that link above comes up blank for me). Cheers.

        • +3

Ah right, that's strange. Must be something different about your account.

That link was from clicking on my profile > account & settings > channels. Which then lists your subscriptions with expiry date, option to cancel/restart etc. In case that is of help to anyone else.

  • Does this have The Professionals?

  • +1

Had Britbox for quite a while. Starting to get buffering issues. Anyone else? Could be influx of new subscribers with deals like this.
