Yeah I'm a bit annoyed at that. Literally just bought one from the Amazon special just to find this out.
The updated model hasn’t launched yet and won’t be close to this price until a while after launch though?
I still think it's worth it to pay an extra $20 for this and not have the usability issues
yeah, chromecast google tv biggest reported issue has been lack of storage
which also affects being to update the device,always read reports that they are upping the minimum storage.
8gb is just pathetic nowadays.they should also update the cpu/gpu as well.
Wishful thinking, but hope they pull an Apple and shove a Tensor in it.
Hmmmmm unfortunate that you cant use a vpn on thease… Need tunnlebear for UK stuff i need to reture the media pc with one of thease but vpn is inportant, anyone know of a work around? Or a tunnlebear proxy or somthin
Why don't you do router level vpn?
I could i guess but i dont want to tunnel all my traffic through the VPN just the one device, quite possible to do using a crappy second router but i dont think tunnlebear supports that mode vpn

As others have said i think you can just do apps on thr 4k but you can do router level for particular devices or subnets etc
You can use VPN apps on this device. I have done it previously.
It works?!! Ima have to buy if it does i guess i cant loose i can allways use it arounf the house for other media streaming

Looks like the seller has put the wrong item number and description for sale - I received an HD Google TV (part number GA03131-AU) instead of the 4k version (GA01919-AU). Going through a return now, and wishing I hadn't posted this! Sorry crew!
A more powerful Chromecast (likely with double the storage) is expected to be launching (my guess) sometimes this year. This 4K model was launched in 2020 so it's due for a refresher.
