Had this the last time it was offered in October(?) and I still don’t have my $95 travel credit.

    • +6

Think everyone is in the same boat.

      • At least you are in a boat, you should be happy.

        • +1

          Perhaps it was float credit?

    • +3

Same, i just gave up and closed it anyway.

    • I haven't even received the 75k points

      • Did you automatically set-up the ANZ Reward Points to Virgin Points "auto-redemption feature" via ANZ Rewards?

        • +1

Yes. Been getting the 'your auto redemption was successful' email every few weeks.

I really just need to call them but been putting it off.

        • I'm on the phone to them now. I forgot that they played the same 1, grating song for the entirety of your hold… Is it intentional on their behalf to make calling them completely miserable?

    • +1

"should" the money appear in ones existing virgin travel bank? I'll call tomorrow and share anyway.

      • +1

        interested in this, please share

        • Received mine 6 weeks after getting the points

          • @rwandrall: If you don’t mind, can you please let us know how you received it? Code via email, physical gift card in mail?

            • +2

@panduuu: Received a first welcome email saying a travel bank has been opened for my account. Then a few days later another email saying travel credits were credited. Logged on my velocity account, clicked on travel bank, logged on the travel bank website with my velocity credentials, saw the $95 balance. Check back the original post comment section as others updated their situation there as well

              • @rwandrall: Thanks mate, that’s helpful.
I’ll keep an eye for that email.

    • Me either spent close to 3grand in month 1 and havent got any points or credit yet -_-

    • Someone commented to me last time I said this and pasted the conditions and said something about 90 days for credit to appear.

  • im guessing the waiting period doesn't count for Frequent Flyer Black (QFF) cards right?

    • +1

bingo, QFF is a separate scheme

    • Thats right. Rewards and FF are different. Waiting period on one doesnt apply to other. Cheers.

      • great ! I might try it then if CBA falls through

  • +2

    Took this out last time,
Still waiting for the points, AF refund and i think i have to chase them for the travel credit?

    • +4

Yeah you really have to chase ANZ, they are a pain to deal with in regards to Rewards if things don't go smoothly.

I have used them three times for credit card churning. 2 out of 3 it was good, no issues.

On the third time I never got my 80K velocity points. Spent hours on the phone, emails etc… Eventually I gave up and swore never to use ANZ again.

      GET ON THEIR ASSES!!!

    • +1

I need to follow them up also regarding the travel credit….

    • +1

Go to a branch and make them do the running around. Don't accept a "call this number" response…No thanks.

I got a result from the branch manger by the end of the day.

      • My experience was different. I went to the branch and the staff said since I applied it online, they couldn't help and pushed me away :p

        • Thats when you remind them your application says 'ANZ' at the top, as does the sign on their front door!
They will say something like "we can only call the same number you can", so you say "no worries, let me know how it goes asap".

          • @tunzafun001: I did say something similar but the staff didn't care at all. I logged a formal complaint, got a reference number, guess what, ANZ neither contact nor follow up.

  • +4

Basically this deal never ended: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/728989

    • But when you click into PointsHack, it doesn’t have the same offer.

  • +31

Only apply if you have a very high pain threshold.

I applied through the PointsHack offer and it was an absolute shitshow. I was requested (and promptly complied) to send documentation 3 times by 3 different people, each time with slightly different requirements. Then they said my application expired because I took to long, only to have the card suddenly approved a week later! Now, after meeting spending criteria there is no sign of the Velocity Points or flight/status credit and the CC team has NFI what's going on.

    • +1

I went through a similar nightmare for CBA card. Still waiting for it after few weeks. Absolute muppets. However i got this ANZ card seamlessly. It's such a crap shoot.

      • Lol seems to be the luck of the draw

    • +1

I’ve always found ANZ involve the most back and forth for applications but you get there eventually

    • +4

Can relate last year cos had an absolute shit of a time took me two months of back and forth, and a rejection that I managed to overturn.

This time though set up a bank account with ANZ about a month ago, then applied for this offer and was smooth sailing.

Inconsistent and annoying for sure, ANZ :/

      • +2

Still remember the crapshow that was the last time I tried with ANZ black and I eventually told them to shelf that application because it was going nowhere

    • +2

100% agree, asked to provide further information on a previous as application only to be stuffed around for weeks. I was continually chasing them for updates to have someone else's financial info mixed up with my application. No positive outcome for me. Never again

    • +1

      I'm in the same situation.
      I applied via PointHacks,
and it's been just over 3-months now,
after when I satisfied their sspend-criteria,
but no correspondence nor any inkling
of the rewards that I was supposed to get.

      Thanks for your post.
      I'll chase them up tomorrow.

      • +2

Did you set up auto redemption

        • +1

          Yes.
I did this , a few days after activation.
I chose something like 6 or 8,000 points.

    • +1

I agree, was a bloody nightmare. It was a stagger of one requested document every one-two weeks, for two months. On the sixth request, they messaged me to contact them and I was rudely spoken to by a bloke who started the call with "what do you want? …what do you mean contact us?". I asked to just request everything and I can forward them all at once. He then goes on to threaten "do you want me to cancel it then?" fed up, I hung up on him and thought if it was cancelled then so be it.

Surprisingly, the application still progressed. On the seventh call they still wanted another document because they did not believe I paid 40k to the ATO. My receipt was not enough, so I asked to cancel on the spot, but they begged to stick with it and got it quickly approved by a manager within a couple hours.

Met the requirements within a week, no signs of rewards since. All in all, would not do it again.

  • +10

ANZ I found the worse bank to apply for a CC.

    Just my experience.

    • Same here, applied online, approved and told to go to bank to supply some more info. go to bank, they dont understand why i had to come in, note it down tell me to await cc team call back. They call back and advise to do some more paperwork stuff in-store of the same paperwork they already have. Gave up and told them to jam the paperwork and cancel the application.

  • +3

I applied, got declined. If these stupid banks and their algorithms would give an actual reason I wouldn't be so pissed. Even the reason is "that you earn good money and pay your bills on time.". Also got declined by Westpac. I'm gonna try that $1450 amex offer and if I get declined again, I am just gonna quit credit card bonus point game entirely.

    • I mean how many are you flipping?

I don't actually flip very often anymore, I get approved nearly always.

I also had well into the 6 figures in cash in my bank, but now I have a loan so things may of changed 😂

    • -2

Yep. Amex is a shit show as well imo.

Foreign owned entities with offshored support is creating a host of issues.

    • How’d you go with AmEx?

  • Would ANZ waive the annual fee on this seeing that I just re-financed my HL's to them?

    • yes. Call and ask them once you are approved.

      • +1

No, ANZ changed that towards end of last year, having a HL package no longer carries an annual fee (replaced by $10 per month per offset account) which results no more credit card annual fee waiver

        • It's so annoying they removed the package and don't do the credit card fee waiver anymore, I'm literally about to churn out of my credit card with them because of that

          • @jdawg: actually I dont really mind though.
so $10 per month offset off account fee now instead of $395 annual package fee, save of $275 per year
without ANZ credit card fee waiver, I am more motivated to churn cards as there is no need for me to keep the ANZ credit card anymore

            • @gotcha: yeah good point, ends up being cheaper in the end I guess

        • Is it grandfathered? I've not seen any card fees yet..

          • @MarsTitan: No it’s not, in fact they refunded my last year’s Breakfree fee, even though the year ended just before they withdrew it altogether, I was quite happy it’s that. Also kept the interest rate discount on my mortgage fix. Although I do now have to pay CC annual fees.

  • Anyone know if they'll do balance transfers with this deal?

    • Oh nevermind I found it. They do but its at 21.24% :( Gross

  • +2

Still waiting for my bonus points and status credits from the PointsHack offer in October. Met the spend criteria in Nov.

    • +2

I applied on 9th Nov 22, and was credited the 75K on 9th Dec 2022.

      • I applied on the 7/10, got approved 10/10. Would say I met the spend criteria early-mid Nov.
Yet to hear anything from ANZ.
Rang them in December to follow up, which took me longer than it should've. One consultant said you need to call this number, rang that number, they said no you need to call this number. Went in circles for about 1.5 hours. But, they tell me the offer is applied and to wait it out.
So at this stage, just waiting it out. Might be bothered to call them again soon, but not looking forward to playing phone tag again.

        • You did remember to turn on auto redemption before meeting minimum spend etc?

          • @JohnSy: Is it a requirement to turn on auto redemption BEFORE meeting minimum spend?

            • @spiff: I do not think anyone knows for sure. The terms state "Offer available when you switch on and keep on ANZ Rewards Auto-Redemption for Velocity Points and spend $1,500 on eligible purchases in the first three months from the date of approval."

There are also two options for auto redemption.

My timeline was: Applied for card on 9th Nov
              Received card on 15th Nov
Set auto redemption on Nov 15th, chose "Redeem as many Velocity Points as possible, in regular intervals", with a starting date of Nov 23rd.
Minimum spend beemit transaction processed 21st Nov.
$50 promotion credit received on 8th Dec.
Received 75k points on 9th Dec.

              • @JohnSy: And travel bank $95 was credited on 12 Feb into existing travel bank account.

          • @JohnSy: Yep, definitely before meeting the min spend. Even still, I've spent over the $1.5k requirement at least twice now.

            • @mitchsaun: How do you know that it is before? The T&Cs don't state that. Could easily be argued that both conditions just have to be completed at some point within the first 3 months.

  • +1

I rang them as I am still waiting on bonus from last deal. ANZ seem to have a new policy to wait until the full 3 months (or longer) have passed before issuing then bonus on the back of many people reverting payments (e.g refundable bookings) once their get their extra points.

    • +1

I applied on 9th Nov 22, and was credited the 75K on 9th Dec 2022.

  • +1

It’s been months didn’t get the $95 travel credit. Where and how do we even get the $95 travel credit?

    • Pretty sure you have to ring them up.
It's tedious and stupid, they really should just email you.

    • +2

      From the email received:
Your $95 Virgin Australia Travel Credit will be emailed to the email address listed on your Velocity account 4 months from the date of the email previously sent to you which contained your unique Reward Code.

The $50 back to your card offered by ANZ will be credited to your credit card account within 3 months of the offer criteria being met.

  • +1

Missed this originally - nice to see it back.

Will be the next card for me

  • +14

Negging purely from the experience I've had, but could be worth to some people if they have a smoother process.
I'm all on board with churning cards for points, but I basically will stay away from ANZ. Not worth the hassle at all.

First time took about 5 weeks of back and forth providing documents that I had supplied in my original application. They kept saying that they had never heard of a bank statement from that bank (it was from Westpac lol).
I also never received my points and had to chase it up for about 7 months.

Last time I had applied, they requested my pay slips which I provided.
Then they asked for bank statement to show income.
Shortly after that, requested my employment contract or a letter from my employer that they can confirm I am making $x.
This is while pay slips and bank statements showed my last year or so of income from them, which was about double of their minimum income requirement.

When I told them to forget about it and to cancel my application, the advisor on the phone (who barely spoke English, believe it's a call centre in India) then applied 0for a credit card which was one tier below.

    Absolute shit show.

  • Just got my statement for the third month and no sign of the Velocity points. Met the minimum spend in the first month. Only activated the auto redemption a month ago, not sure if this would have caused an issue.

    • What's that auto redemption?

      • You have to go to ANZ rewards (the portal where you redeem your points) and set up auto redemption of these points to velocity to be eligible to receive the 75k velocity points

    • Yeah you want to add the auto redemption at the start to avoid delays.

  • Have received everything but the $95 travel credit from the previous deal

  • +6

I applied for a credit card with ANZ back in November. I already have a home loan with them so figure it should be relatively easy to just get a credit card as well, right?

    Apparently I was wrong!

They asked for documents which I sent to their email address. They acknowledged they received these documents. I called in December to ask what's going on, they said they indeed have received the documents but are waiting for a senior credit specialist to review it.

I'm currently on hold with them now just to cancel the damn application and go for another credit provider.

My point is don't expect any reasonable time frame with ANZ if you have any issues.

  • +2

Need to find another great credit card deal to churn my current ANZ card which will expire next month since the year is up. Im also in the quantas frequent flyers points ecosytem so would prefer to stay in it but at this point I just want another credit card with good points. any pro card churners know a good place to apply for another credit card with good perks, currently on ANZ frequent flyer black. Also out of curiosity, since i have a frequent flyer black and not an anz rewards black i can theoretically apply for this one or nah?

  • applied and got approved for the awards black card 2 days ago, this would've been better I think?

    • Both are good, but you'll have to spend 6.5k in 3 months.

      • you can't have both at the same time to qualify for the bonuses

  • Whats the minimum salary requirements

  • Disgusting experience, asked to provide further information on a previous as application only to be stuffed around for weeks. I was continually chasing them for updates to have someone else's financial info mixed up with my application. No positive outcome for me. Never again

  • -1

Ok I got my 75K points but I still can't update my velocity profile. Says error everytime.

I'm also curious, to fly from Brisbane to HCMC, it's 275k points!? I can't find any flights to use my 75k points.

    • You have to look for those with Rewards seat available.

    • I'll give you a hint. Do Virgin fly direct to Vietnam? And you'll need to learn the different redemption categories… Not all are the same and the seat you've quoted is extremely crazy expensive.

  • I noticed it mentions on the website that ANZ Reward Points expire. I guess this does not apply to points that are set up as an auto redemption for Velocity points? Is anyone able to confirm?

    • +1

Transfer ANZ points before their ANZ expiry. They then cease to be ANZ points and become Velocity points with the applicable Velocity conditions.

  • Still don't have my points or any of the other rewards from the last deal.

  • I have a ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum does that mean I'm not eligible?

    • Frequent Flyer is separate to ANZ Rewards so you're eligible

  • Is there any requirement to keep this card for a set period of time?

The earning rate sucks, but i could use the status credits to hit gold status with Virgin.
Can hit the spend requirement in the first month, wait till it gets credited to me and then just cancel?

  • What is a good CC for beginner? I want to build up my credit point for future mortgage
