        • that is weird, cos windows have been installed on these machines

try installing windows first before linux.

    • Is your windows usb installer up to date? I'm not sure what else it could be.

I'd get a 2.5 inch ssd and have the two OS' on separate drives.

    • I installed both Windows 11 and Ubuntu, no problem.

  • +1

I wonder if only the first batch received the advertised unit with the AC internal wifi+bt card, but us suckers who ordered late are getting a cheap dongle instead.

It's a very poor excuse to blame high stock levels to tell customers it's tough luck which one you'll get, there should be two listings one with the wifi and one without, simple.

    • +1

I was a last batch and received internal Wifi and BT

      • +1

did you get the antenna attachment as well?

        • +1

          I did.

  • +7

Order from the first batch and got wi-fi built in for those playing along.
Opened it up for a ram upgrade and it was full of dust so I blew it out with some compressed air.
I wouldn’t call it “refurbished”, “used” condition is more accurate.

    • +1

looks like this seller is not actually refurbishing it (cleanup) and or doing a very poor job

did you get the antenna attachment?

did you buy the RAM yourself, how much you paid?
why not just pay for the RAM upgrade?

      • Yep antenna and power cable were floating loose in the box.

I bought a 16GB stick to potentially upgrade to 32GB in the future. It was $65 from umart.

Unfortunately, I didn't realise there was the option to upgrade the RAM until after I ordered.

It’s a luck of a draw. Mine got a few scratches on the case I thought very good condition means no scratches. Also the case was not cleaned properly still has some dirts on the surface. Definitely more like a used unit. I will test it tonight. Also no antenna included, is it suppose to be one?

      • Damn no antenna, yes others have received the antenna

      • Also no antenna included, is it suppose to be one?

Mine was bundled with the power supply, almost missed it.

  • I sitting on the fence for a while, a bit concerned re: onboard wifi/bt or getting a random dongle - and an 8500t is overkill for what I need, but at least it'll properly run Win11.

I've ordered one, so finger's crossed it's in good condition & has the onboard card!

Just received my unit from the latest batch (Ordered on the 25th Jan).

    Received:

    • Genuine Power Supply (requested in eBay Notes)
    • Internal Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Board with Antenna (requested in eBay Notes)
    • RAM: 2x Micron 8GB DDR4 1Rx8 PC4-2666V-SA2 MTA8ATF1G64HZ-2G6D1 (would have requested 1x 16GB RAM, if I knew they were Crucial CT16G4SFRA32A)
    • SSD: SK Hynix SC311 SATA 256GB
    • Expansion Slot: Additional DisplayPort Card (3 DP Port Total)

Overall pretty happy with my order, just needed a bit of dusting.

    • Very nice, if only I knew to put a bunch of eBay notes/requests for things that are part of the actual listing :)

Mine arrives today, I'll post what I got (and didn't get)

I ordered mine on 21st Jan.

    • Did you also get the 2.5" drive caddy?

      • Yep, light blue plastic tray.

        • Ok I wonder if they will send me one, guess I'll have to contact them

    • Where is the 3rd DP port located? Can you add it yourself? where is the expansion slot?

      • +1

Where is the 3rd DP port located? where is the expansion slot?

        Located above the ethernet port.

        Can you add it yourself

You can purchase the module from Dell:

Got mine today as well, second batch.

Very, very clean (like new) and came with Wifi/BT plus an antenna in the box and genuine Dell 90W power supply.

    Windows 11 Pro installed. :)

16GB of RAM as requested, will open up soon to install my 1TB SSD and see if I have two sticks or one.

Came with the additional DP port as well (3 in total).

    • Opened it up, not a spec of dust inside, installed my 1TB MX500 without issues with the supplied 2.5" caddy.

Looks to be 2 x 8GB sticks of RAM (SK Hynix HMA81GS6CJR8N-VK), SSD is SK hynix SC311 SATA 256GB.

The only 'fault' I can find is that two of the rubber feet are missing.

  • Ok, I lost the lottery:

2nd batch I think (ordered on Jan 21)

    No internal wifi+bt!
No AC wifi (just a cheap wifi n USB)!
    No third DP!
    No 2.5" SSD Drive Caddy!
    2*8GB (not a big deal)

Not really happy as I needed the BT that the OP advertised here.

The missing 2.5" caddy is also bad, am I supposed to just tape an SSD in, or can we get these caddies cheap somewhere?

    • Same position as me mate, have you tried reaching out to them yet? I really wanted the internal wifi and 2.5 caddy. @Calmago are you able to help at all?

      • +1

I find it pretty bad that we paid the same and didn't get maybe $50-80+ worth of parts that nearly everyone else seems to have gotten.

        • Yeah it's totally killed the deal for me. I think I will just end up returning it

          • @pyr0: Same

Btw did you also get the slower 2133 RAM compared to everyone else who got 2666? Lol, it's beyond a joke now.

    • Bloody hope mine’s got internal BT, I’ve only got a BT keyboard!

  • what cable connects this to the monitor or tv. I got one today but i thought it would have hdmi slot. ?

    • You'll need a DisplayPort (DP) Cable or an adapter that converts from DP to HDMI.

  • FYI, anyone wanting to use one of the Patriot Burst Elite SATA SSDs, from this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/753678 - please note that it won't work with the blue plastic caddy. The mounting holes are a few mm too far forward so the ports on the drive don't make sufficient contact with the ports on the Dell system board.

Mine is currently connected directly (caddy-less) with some BlueTAC underneath to support it. The BlueTAC is sitting on the plastic edge of what I reckon is the bluetooth card.

    • What blue caddy? What Bluetooth card? Lol

      • Inside the Dell is a plastic caddy that's designed to hold a 2.5" drive in place. You pop the drive into the caddy and click it back into place. That's how it's supposed to work anyway. If you don't intend to add more storage, you're good to go.

        • +1

Yeah, I didn't get a caddy or wifi card or BT or extra video expansion.

I got a dud and the seller just says too bad, you get what you're given.

          • @Grish: Just return it and swap for one that's guaranteed to have what it's supposed to, make sure they check it first before they send it.

          • @Grish: You didn’t buy one of the barebones ones per chance? I’ve seen them on eBay in the past day or so. Identical machine with no guts.

            • @Orrelljet: No I ordered the same one everyone else ordered, with wifi etc directly from the link here.

I just think some units/batches were originally used as barebones and the seller might obtain batches from various sources.

              • @Grish: In that case, interfreak is bang on; the seller needs to fix it as it's advertised as having WiFi:

                • Connectivity WiFi Wireless, Ethernet

Initiate a return and go from there.

                • @Orrelljet: For sure seller needs to sort you out, you didn't get what you ordered

  • +1

Mine has arrived in Perth. Everything as advertised.

Inside clean, outside shows some wear and tear, but I am happy given the price.

  • +2

Got mine and very happy with it. Came with the blue caddy, WiFi/BT module, 1 antenna, 3 x DP and unit was clean. Ordered from the first batch.

  • +1

Got mine several days ago. Ended up replacing the existing Hynix Sata SSD with a nvme 1tb 3rd gen ssd with Dram. (Silicon Power P34A80). Reinstalled Win11pro without any issues. I did login with my MS account initially, which saved the license details. when i logged in again after the rebuild… the license showed activated.. so didn't have to do anything.

    • Is that a significantly better drive?

      • +1

        Upgrade

        • Faster Speed: SATA M.2 to NVMe M.2
        • Larger Capacity: 256GB to 1TB
        • Can you list the steps you went through to install windows on the NVME?

          • +2

@interfreak: You can clone the existing SSD with either the software that came with your new SSD or a third-party software (will require a M.2 SSD enclosure to mount your new SSD).

Alternately use Windows Media Creation to create a bootable USB and do a fresh install of Windows.

    • +2

The Windows Licensed is tied to the motherboard/BIOS.

    • For sh*ts and giggles, installed my Samsung 980 Pro nvme drive, now getting 3100MB/s read and 3300MB/s write speeds, well up from 500MB/s from the drive or shipped with.

The 980 is a Gen 4 nvme (this machine is only Gen 3), but obviously backwards compatible.

Was very, very easy to upgrade using just a bootable Windows 11 USB. :)

      • Does your Pro have a heat sync? Do you know what temps it is running at? I chucked a 500GB m.2 nvme gen4 in there just now, (one I removed from a new Dell Inspiron laptop to upgrade to 1TB) and CrystalDiskInfo screemed at me, it was running 90 degrees, no heatsync. The m.2 sata it came with runs at 30 degrees. I wonder if a gen 3 nvme would run better, I dont have one to test it :(

        • +1

Yup I have a heat sink, runs at 50c, and that's in a very hot and muggy NQLD. The only issue now is the SSD caddy above it is a very tight squeeze, but I don't really need to have it in there anyhow with a 1TB nvme.

  • +1

My unit has a Samsung nvme ssd and 2rx8 2x8gb ram 2133p

Which I think is better than the 1rx8 2666?

    • I wonder why it's not 2666MHz? I'm pretty sure the rest of us got that.

      • Mine was 1 x 16GB 3200

Not that it makes any real difference.

        • I think with i3/i5 processors on the 7060 it will limit the speed to 2666MHz anyways.

      • Yeah I seem to have received a diff unit/batch from most, mine was missing the wifi card, extra dp card and blue SSD caddy.

Instead I think my ssd is better though (nvme/PCIE)

The seller have said they will send me the missing parts, which is awesome!

Btw have you guys looked at your bios logs and SSD SMART report? You can see how many TBs have been written/read on the SSD.

I have a bunch of low power warnings in bios log, maybe a flaky psu was used when testing it.

        • How did you manage to get all the missing parts? I was only able to get a caddy out of them. Total BS

          • @pyr0: I just complained about it, and they asked if I wanted a replacement, I said they can just send me the wifi card + antenna + caddy instead.

I didnt bother asking for the 3rd DP module.. would never need/use anyway.

  • mine came today, bought from 2nd wave of supply last week, has wifi, BT, extra Display port (3 in total), has a sata m.2, 'SK hynix SC311 SATA 256GB' according to CrystalDiskInfo, read/write speeds of 557/473 MB/s, has 1 x 8GB DDR4 sodimm. perfectly fine for a linux box next to my main PC using a KVM to toggle between the two.

  • I got mine today.

A little bit dusty inside, but in overall good condition & included:
    Toshiba M2 SATA SSD
    Intel Wifi/BT card & antenna
    3rd DisplayPort
    Blue drive caddy

Plus a USB wifi N adapter in the box

    Currently running Windows update :eyeroll:

  • Anyone know how to downgrade to windows 10?

  • Noob question - i checked out before adding the available ram upgrade so I need to do it myself. Can someone in the know please tell me whether this 8 gb ram from Amazon would be compatible? Thank you https://www.amazon.com.au/Crucial-PC4-25600-SODIMM-260-Pin-M…

    • +1

      That's correct. Easy to install.

      • Awesome, thanks!

  • +1

Mine arrived today, looks like the courier bounced it off it's wifi antenna port & it's all bent in. I assume contacting via eBay is the best method for resolution?

    • eBay messaging best resolution. Can you bend it back at all? … at least better than USB wifis

    • +3

Update, I asked for a partial refund for the cost of a replacement antenna port & they agreed. All resolved.

All sellers are good until you have to deal with a problem, then you find out their real quality. ACT did very well.

  • +1

Just adding in my delivery. Finally got it and the machine is clean as (2nd batch)
Came with a single 16GB Crucial DDR4-3200 stick as requested which I'm happy about and the SSD is a Micron110M M.2 so not anything special.
Bluetooth, WiFi all accounted for and I ended up ordering the HDMI addon module from dell and replaced the 3rd DisplayPort.

Overall happy with the deal and will probably keep an eye out for a NVMe if i find the speed lacking.
