I moved from Optus to Coles (which use Optus) and it was smooth with a minor hiccup. I couldn't make outgoing calls for one day. Incoming was fine throughout during transition.

It could be a deal-breaker for others though.

    • Works fine.

    • I ported today from Optus postpaid to Coles prepaid. Was done in 5 mins.

    • I ported from optus prepaid to coles back in 2021, was all done in 5 mins with no issues

  • Just curious if the Coles Mobile app will work on your phones, especially its Android version …

  • For those in areas with decent optus reception I'd recommend
Cheap price, relatively good customer service, and theres usually deals to ensure recharge is the same price as new customer sim (so ongoing customers dont have to port out port in)

    • Now most mvno with Telstra and Optus have Vowifi and volte too. I’m in South Sydney and get good connection with all carriers. Currently with Telstra but 1 kid is catch, husband belong and another kid using the felix 1 month offer (soon we will go back to belong too). They are all very good, of course if you can also get esim it’s an extra perk.

  • Anyone who buys the $120 RECHARGE voucher instore, can you tell me what the expiry date is please ? It should cost $96 with the 20% discount.

Please dont say 30 days unless you've actually purchased a recharge, that is for the $99 new SIM offer. Usually the recharge vouchers have a 3-6 month activation timeframe.

    • My last Coles Mobile voucher from a self-serve checkout on 21/12/2022 had expiry of 24/12/2023.

      • +1

My $96 "$120 60GB recharge" voucher bought today has expiry of 26/11/2023.

        • +1

Cheers, I just grabbed one, mine is also 26/11/23

  • +1

Oh. I just bought the sim and activated 2 days ago.
    Great.

    • thoughts and prayers

  • -1

If you're with optus already, can you port to eg.boost and then to coles mobile on the same day?

  • No eSIM correct??

  • Do i get the 5000 flyby with the recharge voucher?

    • +1

Don’t think it’s included for the recharge.

  • +1

If anyone buys the recharge voucher can you please post the expiry date. I’m not talking about the 30 days for extra benefits. Thanks.

    • +2

Mine has expiry of 26/11/2023 ($120 60gb voucher for $96).

      • +1

Thanks. Appreciate you telling me. My son's expires in July so this expiry date is perfect.

      • +1

Thanks Mate, mine expires in April so I'll go and grab one of those recharge vouchers now while this offer is on

    • +2

Got a recharge voucher today. Expiry date is 09/12/2023.

  • Are there any prepaid plans with no data?

    • Amaysim Talk n Text only. $60 annual plan.

    • Aldi has prepaid plans with no data.

  • I didn’t see 5000 points in my flybuys account. Do they normally give points instantly?

    • No. Can take a couple of weeks sometimes. Depends on the promo.

    • I bought on the $99 sim on 18/1 and can see +5000 points for the offer and +1200 points for a targeted offer I had for spending over $30

  • Does anyone know if Coles Mobile have access to the 5G network? I've searched high and low and can only find the below, which suggest they don't have access.

"With Coles Mobile you get great value and coverage!

Coles Mobile is powered by the Optus 3G and 4G mobile network, which covers 98.5% of the Australian population.

    Check your device can access Optus 3G (UMTS 900 MHz) network or Optus 4G Plus (LTE 700 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600 MHz)."

    Sourced from: https://colesmobile.com.au/home/page/coverage

    • You only get 3G and 4G as per your link

  • 20% applies to all recharge? Not just 200gb recharge voucher?

    • "Save 20% offer applies to all Coles Mobile recharge values"

  • Do ppl expect these prepaid SIMS to be more difficult to find stock in-store due to this promotion?

    • +1

      Nope

  • 4G or 5G?

    • "Coles Mobile is powered by the Optus 3G and 4G mobile network, which covers 98.5% of the Australian population"

      • -1

Thanks, no 5G, no go these days.

  • Can anyone confirm if I buy 2 SIMs, do I get 10000 Flybuys points?

    • +1

That question will cost somebody $198 to answer :)

      • +1

Nothing in the promo that's says limited to one per customer. If you buy two or more and activate them as new a Coles Mobile customer you're entitled to the 5000 points per purchase. It's pretty cut and dried. Only thing that's might fight you on is if the services are registered in the same name but I don't expect flybuys are going to go on a deep dive of the verifying by Coles Mobile.

        • Nothing in the promo, you are right but I purchased two and have just received 5000 points only in my Flybuys activity.

I'll of course be raising a support request to get the other 5000 credited.

I'm confident it will get credited and will update when it does.

What I can also confirm, is it stack with other promos. I had a spend $150 or more in a single transaction, and earn 2500 Flybuys. That paid out. All up, should have been 12500 points ($62.50 of coles credit), brining the overall cost down to $67.75 for me. Others may get better options.

          • @BarginBandit: More power to ya.

I probably should've been clearer though that with these 'specific product purchase' bonuses I always make them as separate purchases, on different receipts. That way they can't weasel out of it by saying the bonus is 'per shop' or anything like that.

            • @wavesgreen: Unfortunately that wont work, it's once per Flybuys account. I've engaged their customer support whom confirmed that's how it looks within Coles internal systems.

I've pointed out multiple times to them that the promo nor any terms and conditions state this, so as a customer, how can I know it's once per Flybuys account. They keep telling me it's the terms and conditions, going around in circles.

I've escalated now, but it's hard work. I see others below have also been caught out. Coles are in the wrong here, the promo needed to clearly state it was once per account, which it didn't.

              • @BarginBandit: Fair point and if I were e ever to buy a high $-value item as part of a promo like this I would opt for using a separate flybuys account. Just to remove any doubt and risk of hassles. Even if I was losing out on the 2500pts in your example for the Spend $150 offer.

Make sure you read these reviews first. They are cheap for a reason. https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/coles-mobile

    • +1

      Better rated than Telstra Mobile

      https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/telstra-1

For me, this was super clean to activate. You need a credit card number which they use for the ID check. Others like boost check Medicare/passport/drivers licence etc.

The second one in my account didn't need anything additional and activated in 2 mins.

Optus is fine in my area so I shouldn't have any more dealings for over a year with Coles mobile.

  • For existing customer can I buy the 60GB sim card, then port away and port back so I can get the bonus Flybuys Points as well? Thanks.

  • I am currently on Coles Mobile 365 days play, and it expires next month. If I recharge now, does the new 365 days expire a year from now or Feb next year?

    • A recharge will kick in immediately, so don’t recharge until the day your current one expires.

      • Thanks. I will wait till next month.

        • Wrong information. Don’t wait until next month. Get it at 20% off. I got a recharge voucher a couple of days ago, it expires in December. My recharge isn’t due until beginning of July.

          • @Jono05: The question was when they should apply the recharge, not when they should purchase the recharge.

I have purchased a voucher with this offer but I won’t be activating it until April when my current one expires because they don’t stack.

            • +1

@jmc787: Oops my bad. Guess I misread that. Blame it on lack of sleep. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • It expires 365 days after you activate the recharge not 365 days after you buy it.

  • Looks like it could be just one claim per flybuys account? I bought 2 Sims in 2 seperate transactions and only got the bonus points for the first one

    • +2

Me too. I bought 2 SIM cards on 18/1 using only 1 Flybuys card, and saw only 5000 points in my Flybuys card.
I will have to contact Flybuys next week to find out why. I will post the result here.

      • Likewise. I have emailed them. Waiting on a response. Will update when I get one.

        • I'm having this battle too. The promo does not say it's once per account anywhere. It only says new services only, which is different, and each one activated was a new service.

I've had several emails and just got off a call with them. It's been escalated to another team, will get response back in 2-3 business days. It's pretty ordinary, they don't have leg to stand on, their customer service teams that I've engaged have all been unable to resolve as they aren't authorised to resolve it (what are they there for then?).

        • Got the following email update. Looks promising:

Please be advised that bonus points for this offer are awarded to qualified members accounts within 2 weeks of the expiry date of the offer.

Please let us know if you have not received the bonus points after this time frame has passed

          • @aaronaldo: Correct me if I am wrong, but the bonus points were already awarded, they only paid it once which is the issue. Why would the pay 5000 points within 48 hours of purchase, then pay another 5000 points 2 weeks later.

I doubt waiting 2 weeks will make any difference, unless they are doing some kind of system correction to fix all of these.

            • @BarginBandit: I bought 2 seperate Sims on 2 seperate days. The response was referring to the 2nd purchase where I did not get the bonus points.

My guess is their default system code is to give out points once and have some batch script for any exceptions?

      • +4

I have received another 5000 points from Flybuys.
I hope everyone will receive it, too.

        • Nice.

        • +1

I got mine too, it wasn't easy, but hopefully for others that bought two or more it will be easier to claim.

        • Did you have to ask them or was it automatic?

          • @Feeblely: I emailed, emailed again, and again, and then called them. After that, it was awarded two days later, without further comment as a "call centre adjustment"

    • Did you guys receive the 5,000 Flybuys points after purchase of the sim card or after activation only? Wondering if I can wait until after the promo period to activate and still receive the bonus points given my contract isn't up for another month.

      • After purchase

        • -1

Which imbecile negged the helpful and correct answer ^

          • @jmc787: I have a neg pet. Not sure when exactly I got them, but every response I write, regardless of how uncontroversial it is, always gets one neg vote. Sometimes I feel sad if I don’t get their neg vote and begin to wonder if they may have passed away.

are there any other deals active which comes close to this? I dont mind spending few dollars more a month. coverage was soooo bad when I was with them a year ago and doubt it has improved.

  • Does coles mobile provide number choosing service like amaysim does?

  • Can i pay at the self checkout or does it need staff activation of some sort

    • The recharge offer ended on 24/01, the new sim offer ends on 31/01, the new sim can be purchased at self serve & if staff activation is required there would be someone in the self serve area to assist.

  • -1

How about moose? https://moosemobile.com.au/ currently it is under big promotion.

    • Moose is fine but that sale price has been there forever.

  • How long do points take to register after purchase? It's been 1 day so far

    • +1

I purchased 4 sims yesterday around 2pm - just checked my FlyBuys account now and can see 2 x 5,000 points automatically posted.

Not sure about the other 2 - may have to chase them up as a few other users above mentioned but at least they honoured more than 1 automatically.

      • Seems strange that you got 2 x 5000 points as I just called FlyBuys and they confirmed it is definitely only once per account. But yeah, it should be made clearer in the offers T&C's, and I gave them that feedback. Their argument was that ALL FlyBuys offers are only once oer account, unless stated otherwise, but I still reckon that for a high value purchase like this, it should still be clearer.

        • Yep but they didn't state that in the T&Cs so you're entitled to more than 1 bonus.

Both BarginBandit and daquatroi ended up getting 5,000 for multipple SIMs with a bit of pushback - see a few replies above.

          • @JTL: It might be worth creating two flybuys accounts to be safe then.

edit: also finally received points. Took 2 days!

  • Got the offer to recharge 20% off, a month ago, suggesting "recharge in the final week" (to mot lose too much credit - does not roll-over). Got reminder today "last chance" credit expires tonight, and their site/app is down for maintenance! :(
    Guess I'll try complaining tomorrow.

    • They should honour your offer as the recommended time to recharge is on the day that your current plan expires, seeing as the recharges don't stack by their design.

      Let us know outcome pls.

      • +1

@jmc787 Got a chance to call CS 2/02, full day after credit expiring. Rep said my recharge discount was still available (appeared as full $120 on app, but apparently would show discounted amount on PC browser). Rep was able to recharge using CC I had saved to account (auto-recharge disabled), would not have been able to "take" a payment otherwise. Good to know the offer doesn't expire when credit days expire, contrary to "last chance!" text.

    My Fellow OzBargainers.
After 3 weeks communicating with Flybuys regarding their advertised 5000 points bonus on each colesmobile 60gb sim deal they have collectively disregarded what I have said and finally this afternoon they have magically found an email that was supposedly sent out that explicitly says that the 5000 points offered was only per account.
This is in stark contrast to the colesmobile advertisement and the coles store point of sale advertisement and flybuys own t&c's.
    Pain and simple False Advertising.
    Very Poor.
    The sims are going back.

    • Good luck with that. It's an uphill battle trying to return anything that's not faulty, let alone a SIM card that the system has loaded value onto, back to Coles.

      • +1

        I love a bargain.
But the fact that Flybuys and Coles mobile were caught out with deceptive marketing and back pedalling dismissive replies for 3 weeks is fault enough for the Australian Consumer Law.

        • They've done something similar to me - sent me a "weekly special" email telling me the price of a product as $x, bought it in-store for $y (which is higher than $x, obviously), which is a clear case of false-advertisement.

Thought it was a lapse of memory (cos it's something like $2.50 vs $3.50) and I was with someone with very little patience. Contacted Coles CS about that afterwards once I've checked my receipt against the email. First they tried to argue that it's an online offer. (No, it's not.) Eventually they tell me to take it up with the store manager for a refund of the difference (which meant I would have to go through that whole argument again), instead of them telling the store manager to expect me and to authorise that refund in advance - and stopped responding to any of my further correspondence. (I also ticked the box of asking them to call me with every correspondence but they never did - only emails.) I've completely given up on Coles CS since then.
