Welcome to the ultimate guide of the Google One subscription
Updates:
- 28/06/2023 - New corrected AUD prices, which reflects the significant drop due to Turkey's current economy situation (this deal is an ALL TIME LOW!) All prices in this guide are current as of 28 June 2023.**
- 28/06/2023 - Additional methods on sign-ups (for those who could not previously sign up via Google Pay, I've now found the solution by using a Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard).
- 28/06/2023 - At the end of this post are many of the detailed guides I've created.
Reposting this deal from last year just in case anyone missed it, however this post will be better than the previous one and will include more detailed information to help those trying to jump on board the ship. Oh, and prices are even cheaper.
Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Xbox Game Passes, Spotify Premium, Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google One, Microsoft 365, relocating (virtually of course) to Turkey is usually the best option, with some methods saving hundreds or thousands of dollars each year added up.
YES - you can share your Google One subscription with your Google Family Group, however, this may affect those who use an Android device (or any device that utilises the Google Play store). If anyone in your Google Family has an Android device, please see NOTES section below the end of the post description BEFORE signing up to this deal

Instructions (No Current Subscription)
Please read the following instructions carefully. I've tested it on iPhone and PC (windows), so here's my experience - and it took literally minutes.
Note: If you plan on sharing your Google One subscription with any family members (or others), you must add your Australian family members / accounts into a Google family group before signing up to Turkey Google One subscription, otherwise you will get the following error: "Looks like you're in a different country from the family manager". To add family members, go to: https://families.google.com/families
Step 1: Add any family members to your Google Family Group if needed: https://families.google.com/families
Step 2: Add a Google payment profile for Turkey if you don't have one yet. If needed, use a fake address generator to obtain a random Turkey address for the payment profile. You can create a new payment profile by following these steps: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile.
Step 3: Connect a VPN to the server in Turkey (see Notes section for suggestions)
Step 4: Go to https://one.google.com/about/plans and if it shows currency in TRY (Turkish Lira), continue choosing your membership. Pay using a credit/debit card (preferedly with no international fees)
- Possible Problem 1: Prices are still showing in AUD or pricing initially shows in Turkish Lira but switches back to AUD after you select your plan
Possible Solution 1: You might see that the 3 plan columns show Australian pricing, but after selecting the desired plan and going to next screen, it might change to TRY currency. If this happens, then great - just proceed and pay. If it stays in AUD pricing, double check your VPN service or switch to another one. If this fails, you may have to delete your Australian payment profile (you can always make a new one after, but be aware that deleting your Australian profile may destroy all your Google Play Credits and possibly your previous app purchases as well - See Notes section below). Deleting your Australian payments profile will only affect you if you (the person signing up) is an Android user.
Possible Problem 2: Error message when paying "Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, secure your account. Learn more about securing accounts"
- Possible Solution 2: Turn off VPN then try to pay again. If this doesn't work, delete your debit/credit card off the payment profile and redo all the steps again - when you go to pay it will ask you to enter a new card - try and use a different one and it should work.
Step 5: Fly back home and turn off your VPN
Step 6: To share with family members, you need to turn on family sharing after signing up to share the storage. To do this, go to https://one.google.com/settings, then click "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on.
Step 7: YOU'RE DONE! WOOO! Enjoy your savings :)
Instructions (Transferring from a different country)
Please read the following instructions carefully. I've tested it on iPhone and PC (windows), so here's my experience - and it took literally minutes.
Probably not the best to transfer as I’m not sure if signing up while having an active subscription will stack on, and there’s no point paying for a whole year if you still got like 5 months left (for example). If you have a current Australian Google One sub, best to cancel it, let the sub period expire then sign up fresh using Instructions above (rather than the one below)
Step 1: Go to https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions, locate your Google One subscription, click "Manage", then proceed to "Cancel Subscription". Once cancelled, the current subscription will continue until the end of the billing period. But you now have an option to subscribe back to Google One.
Step 2: Add any family members to your Google Family Group if needed: https://families.google.com/families
Step 3: Add a Google payment profile for Turkey if you don't have one yet. If needed, use a fake address generator to obtain a random Turkey address for the payment profile. Notes (Important)
- If everyone in the Google Family is an iPhone user, just follow the instructions above - there will be no problems, as deleting your Australian payment profile will not affect you at all.
If at least one account in the Google Family uses an Android Device/Google Play Store, please read this:
Once you sign up to Google One via Turkey, every Google account in the family will relocate to Turkey, even if the other accounts don’t have a Turkey payment profile. The only fix that I have seen right now is to delete the Turkey payment profile on the account that was used to sign up to Google One - that will revert all accounts to the Australian Play Store. However, be aware that deleting your Australian profile may destroy all your Google Play Credits and possibly your previous app purchases as well. However, we can think of a workaround below to make sure everyone in the family has access to the Australian Play Store after signing up to Google One:
- If anyone in the family has an Android device using the Google Play Store:
We know that anyone in the family group can sign up to Google One and share it with the rest of the family. Given that it is likely the person signing up has to delete their Australian payment profile, use the account who is not an android (one who uses an iPhone/iOS device) to sign up (that way, deleting the Australian payment profile won't affect anything as iPhone users don't utilise the Google Play Store anyway). Do not use the family manager's account to sign up (if they are an Android user) because deleting the Australian payments profile could mean you may lose complete access to your Google Play Credits and possibly your previous app purchases. Follow the instructions section above, making sure you add a Turkey payment profile and remove your Australian payment profile. After signing up to Google One, share it with your family group as per instructions. At the end, delete your Turkey payment profile (and add a new Australian one in if you wish) and everyone in the family will have access again to the Australian Play Store (including the Family Manager, who was unaffected by this method). By deleting your Turkey payment method, the Google One subscription effectively cancels (you will still get the full year access before it expires) and you’ll just need to sign up again and redo this every year
If the above method does not work for some reason and you really need Australian apps, I guess the workaround for this would be to create another Google account purely for downloading apps from the Google Play Store
UPDATE: According to atlas:
To avoid all your devices changing to the Turkish play store, all you need to do is:
- Make sure the family manager is an Australian account
- Use a different account (ie. Burner account) to join the family and setup Turkish payment profile
- Setup Google One, share, and away you go.
Result: Main account gets shared storage and keeps Australian profile.
Most VPN services will connect to Turkey, unlike India. Those include NordVPN, Private Internet Access (PIA), free Windscribe Chrome extension (recommended), ExpressVPN, etc. If one doesn't work, use another VPN
- If you're using Windscribe and it shows different currencies: keep turning the windscribe on and off. Each time you don't get TRY, turn it off and on, then refresh the Google One sign up page. You'll eventually land on TRY. Go to https://whatismyipaddress.com/ each time you turn it off/on and see if you land on Istanbul
FAQ
Q: Can the family manager see who is using what amount of storage?
A: Yes, you can view the breakdown here: https://one.google.com/storageQ: Does the Family Manager have to be the one signing up to Google One?
A: No, anyone in the family can sign up to Google One and share it with the rest of the family.Q: Will I get banned by Google?
A: There’s always a chance, however only a tiny number of people (<5) have actually gotten suspended by Google (see linked previous post in OP). Proceed at your own risk.
Please note the process can be easy for some people, harder for others, or may not work at all.
There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:
- Modem reset for faster internet,
- Cash back program purchase tracking,
- Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
- Targeted bargains, and
- Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.
