I wish there was a cheap add-on like this for ducted units. #firstworldproblems

    • +1

We have an intesis or accloud (changed names).
It plugs into the Mitsubishi control panel
It works fantastically (I used HomeKit bridge)

      • +2

        got a link?

        • +3

          For MHIA
          https://mhiaa.com.au/wi-fi-control/

If you have a different brand add it to a search
          https://duckduckgo.com/?q=intensis+air+conditioning+controll…

My wife is the main A/C user. She uses the remote only. The remote and phone app not synchronising is a major shortcoming (maybe I just don't know how to make them synchronise???) If everyone uses the phone app you'll love it.

          • @RogerLoger: Upvoted for plenty of info. Thanks

            Two questions though:
            1. Aren’t these super expensive? Like $450 for each unit?
            2. Do you know if these allow integration with Home Assistant?

            Thanks

          • @RogerLoger:

The remote and phone app not synchronising is a major shortcoming

Wouldn't have thought of that. Big issue for most households, you would think.

            • @andresampras: Of course as remote is a dumb unit unaware of your app.

In my scenario considering the Intesis does integrate with Google home , At home , we used GH as unified way of controlling the unit rather than App or remote(which straight went into a drawer forever). App is mainly used when we are driving home and need to cool down the house.

              • @SamyKn: Doesn't work when certain people (they know who they are!) refuse to adjust their ways.

Like when my in-laws come over and flick the physical light switches all around my Philips Hue house

                • @andresampras: Don’t get me started mate. I’ve found taping them “open” works. You’d have to be pretty determined (annoying?) to turn them off with they’re taped like that.

        • I am also keen on the integration for the Mitsubishi heavy industry AC. Did you get more info for this one bro?

          • +2

@jeeg: i had them running on 2 of my MHI ACs , works like a charm no drama.

The advantage in comparison to Sensibo or other converters is natively talking to AC unit rather than a conversion , i got mine 175$ from good guys 1.5 years back.

  • Expired. 12 measly coupons. I wonder if they'll add more? Could be worth checking if you missed out.

  • +1

    More coupons added.

    • Lousy 22 in total

      • Crummy 28 now

        • +2

          Extra crummy 35

        • +1

A decent 65 coupons now, so much for a Lightning Deal…

          • +3

@Damonator84: I feel like they're willing to sell as many as people want to buy… just gotta make it appear exclusive.

  • +1

join wait list failed, deal over

    • there's more coupons right now (22 total, 77% claimed)

      • -4

I tried a few different browsers, but the ability to purchase it on the white version isn't an option

        • +1

ah, sorry. I did say "Available in Grey (I think white is sold out now)." moments after I posted it. Will update title.

  • +8

Yes, you can purchase an IR blaster for much less. Good for you. I won't debate the benefits of Sensibo to you.

haha I'd like every deal post to start in this vein.

    • +1

      For example?

Yes, you can purchase an ICE car for much less. Good for you. I won't debate the benefits of Tesla to you.

      • That sounds like exactly something I would say.

    • +1

yes you could wear discarded tissue boxes as shoes for much less, good for you. i wont debate the benefits of ultra boosts to you

  • +5

Agree - I love mine (bought after my Harmony Hub refused to learn airconditioning controls). For anyone who has an Origin Energy account, you can purchase these for $69 delivered:

    https://spike-store.originenergy.com.au/collections/all/prod…

  • +3

It says 80% claimed yet I cant seem to buy it.

    • +1

Too many ppl on wait list.

  • -4

These are absolute garbage, the most flimsy waste of money. They can only be used as an ir blaster (IF) it works which it most likely won't and that they only work on the 2.4ghz band. Do yourself a favour and buy a 30 dollar smart it blaster these are god awful

    • 30 day returns on Prime.

    • +1

4.4/5 average score out of 4000 reviews. Doesn’t seem garbage?

    • @purelysam which IR blaster did you buy instead?

      • +2

I don't know about purelysam but I use a Broadlink rm4 mini with the added sensor in the lead. It can replicate the IR remote and the sensor (if somewhat inaccurate) can confirm the temp dropping/rising if you use it to trigger from outside of the house.

The sensor lead only works for the rm4 plus this model has a little clip that help it be undermounted in things like the bottom edge of a bookshelf or side table. Its about the size of a squash ball but a cylinder.

Lots of preloaded remotes in the software but it learns from the manufacturers remote failing that. Phone based app if you want to touch the phone. GH and Alexa compatible so you can voice on and off the system without the phone or remote for example. Alexa works best IMO.

        • +1

Not sure why you’re getting negged, this is great info, thanks.

          • @theSav: The Broadlink doesn't support 5GHz though, I haven't been able to get mine working again since I updated my old ORBI mesh router to a new ORBI, does Sensibo work with 5GHz?

      • -2

I used a Broadlink off Amazon for $30. I call bs on 4/5 rating they are absolutely trash I returned mine after 2 hours of troubleshooting a fault. Honestly stay away. I am not sure why people have negged the post when you can get something MUCH better for a third of the price that does more.

        • +2

Perhaps the world doesn't revolve around you and your single experience?

    • +1

I bought it after reading your review, you convinced me :)

    • +1

Fair enough…but I bought one maybe 3-4 years ago for my Fujitsu AC..hasn’t missed a beat, have the app on my iPad at home, don’t use the remote any more, also have the app on my iPhone, can turn on heating or cooling on my way home…there is extra functionality I don’t use…FWIW I tried the Mirabella ? from KMart, couldn’t get it work….YMMV

    • I have 5 and have zero regrets.

    • Two Sensibo’s here. Was looking at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries WiFi controller and all the reviews were rubbish so I looked elsewhere.

Sensibo simply works. The ability to turn the A/C on before we get home is great and haven’t had any issues. Absolutely love ours!

    • I bought mine in 2019 and it has worked perfectly since then.

  • Anyone have a receipt for white units at $99 they'd be able to share? I've got a couple still within my price match redemption period.

  • +2

Yes, I digress, you can purchase an IR blaster for much less. Good for you. I won't debate the benefits of Sensibo to you. If you should want, a Sensibo Sky, this looks like a deal, from up high. I have 2, bought a 3rd, air con from bed ain’t so absurd.

    • -4

Uhh just use the Aircon remote?

    • I'm confused as to what you mean, and why you made the effort to type it up.

    • -3

lmao what a waste of money

      • +2

No its not. It is incredibly convenient rolling over in bed at 5am and asking Google to turn on the heater, or riding home from work in hot weather and cooling down your home before you get there. It's incredibly easy to set up and one of those things you'll never do without once you have it. I haven't touched my AC remote since i got it.

    • Did you just rhyme you with you

  • Excellent, purchased thanks

  • Up to 65 coupons now.

  • +1

Would've got one but finally managed to make my Daikin work as it should (built in wifi.) What a shitty app the Daikin one is - no device I owned could create an account to get full wifi out-of-home functionality until I tried a nearly bricked 10 year old iPad that I have lying around, and for some reason that worked.

Anyway rant over, cheers Daikin. Should've bought a sensibo and saved 10 hours of pain.

  • Does this really work with any AC? Mine is quite old. How close to the AC does it have to be?

Also, will it work with a ducted system? There's a digital panel on the wall I currently control it with

    • Will work if your AC can be controlled via remote control.

Won't work if your AC has no remote control or IR receiver.

      • +1

Also it won't work out of the box for all IR controlled AC.

  • +1

anyone can recommend a good IR Blaster that compares to the value of this deal ?

  • Looking at a brand new ActronAir ducted unit. Doesn't look like any of the previous suggestions would be compatible.
Any ideas for a device that would work similar to this?

    • Does your actron come with a remote control or wifi built-in?

If former is true, sensibo will work.
If latter is true, you don't need a sensibo

      • Thanks for the reply. No remote control, but my understanding is a Wifi cable control panel (Neo) is >$1K.

  • +1

Question for the HomeAssistant guys in the group, Sensibo Sky or another IR blaster device? and if so could you share the name/link of the device.

    • Make one with an esp8266, search ESP8285 ESP-01M IR Transceiver on aliexpress

Previous comment got removed when I added the link 🙄

  • Is there any such device that would work with a Samsung Ducted aircon with no infrared?

  • +1

IR blaster is the way to go. Cheap and does the same thing.

  • Been looking at these for a while, I hear they're great but that most of their useful features are now subscription based, can anyone please confirm?

    • +1

If you want to turn on/off your AC, control the mode, temperature, fan, etc then you definitely do not need a subscription. Thats all you really need.

If you want to track power usage, climate reactive control, scheduling, statistics, etc then you need a subscription. Those features are really just for curiosity and potentially for larger houses/offices with many ACs where that might be useful.

      • Yeh fair. I was more thinking about the location based turning on/off as you leave or return home.
These obviously seem much higher quality with an intuitive app compared to competitors and the Kmart IR Mirabella.

Although Cielo have just released the Breeze Lite which looks promising. Yet to release here.

    • +1

It's probably a bit subjective but I'd say almost all of the features most people use don't require a subscription. Even then, the subscription pricing seems reasonable. Mind you, I haven't subscribed as I don't need or particularly want the extra features

      • Ok, good to know, thanks. Probably worth pursuing then. Sadly i have four units in my house, between a $400 - $800 investment haha. It'd it'd be amazing if they could control multiple!

  • -1

Since my original post got negged so hard - buyer beware, these are poorly built only work on wireless 2.4ghz band and are ridiculously overpriced for what they are. Get an IR Blaster which can control multiple devices, is a third of the cost and a lot more premium. I recommend these:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B086VD96LH?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_…

    • You're completely correct, but your average grandma or soccer mum type wouldnt have a hope with an IR blaster. This is easy to use.

The wifi problem is annoying though. I had to disable my 5G briefly for it to work.

    • +3

Most IoT devices are 2.4, and for good reason, they don't have high bandwidth requirements and 2.4 GHz RF propagates further.

Sensibo just works. No messing around. Lots of useful features like timers and temperature graphs. I was going to buy a broadlink once but quite frankly I don't have the time for that crap anymore.

      • The set up process is literally the same
