On the one hand, it's free…
    On the other,
No way am I going out in this weather, I'd rather watch it on tv

    • It’s indoor…

      • COVID approves.

    • But where else can you buy a coke for $8 and a meat pie for $12 :P

  • +3

It is pretty much indoors tho, you would get wet on the way tho.

Hopman Cup was pretty much always a sellout…justsayin'

    • +7

They f'd up the leadup tournaments to the AO badly by removing Hopman Cup and Brisbane 250. Perth crowd especially got screwed

      • Palmer had a hand..

  • +3

    Can't even give them away!

      • +2

That part of the stadium wasn't open to the public because the sun was causing people to constantly move seats, so it wasn't as bad as it looks.
Nevertheless, it was pretty quiet in there.

        • Close the roof? Pointless tournament anyway deserves the crowd it's getting.

  • are the seats any good? Can you even see that tennis ball with the seats that far back??

    • +4

I was pretty high up the other day but view is still good. You can always try and find seats closer to the court when it turns out they’re not taken. You can walk anywhere and no one checks once you’re inside the stadium.

      • Have booked the tickets for tomorrow game
Can we sneak in drinks and food?
Asking for my friends who are coming along

    • +2

the stadium isnt that big, felt pretty close to the court actually even in the higher seats.

      • cool, i haven't been to a tennis match before

        • You’ll love it. You won’t be able to fault it. Pretty hot but, remember to drink lots of deuce.

  • This weather… Hmmm no thanks

  • Good find but weather spoils the mood.. skipping thanks

    Nah I have a headache

    What sport is it?

    • +1

Tennis. First year of this new tournament.

  • Ozbargain meet up confirmed

Also, attended the day match with the WTA #1 vs #3. About 5000/10000 capacity. Heavy rain.

Hopman cup named after Aussie player gets moved to France of all places. Nice. Now there is nothing to watch before the Aussie Open.

Feels like a silent plot to steal the Australian Open and send it somewhere like Doha with deep pockets.

    • Well you could watch the United Cup, which has 500 ranking points.
Rip the Sydney International and Brisbane International.
No idea why Hopman Cup moved to France…

Would be keen to go tomorrow night, any free tickets to tomorrow night's game?

  • +4

Went to watch GB vs USA on Wednesday, great experience! Great views no matter where you sit, and to be honest it's nice to have a little bit of personal space from other people so I didn't mind sitting further back. It's sheltered so you won't get rained on but open to the elements on the sides so rug up in this weather cos it'll be cold.

  • Had to Google United Cup. It's tennis, for those like me who don't know.

Thanks for posting, might go after 8PM to see the men's singles, I wouldn't go even if they paid me to listen to that screaming Italian woman, ahh, ahh, every shot, need ear plugs

  • Anyone know what the box seats give you? Generally you get beverage / canapés but not really sure when it comes to tennis and this arena

    • They are normal seats.
Decent view, better than the nosebleeds

  • Any deals for tomorrow??

  • +2

    That's why Melbourne's the sporting capital :)

Thanks OP, I saw this at 6pm and was in my free seat by 7. Pity about the $30 parking but it was a good five hours of tennis.

  • Any free tickets for tonight matches?
