Tesla Model Y from $70,700 Delivered + On Road Costs @ Tesla

64613

Hi All,

Just came back from Tesla in Chadstone. The Model Y has a $3000+. price drop. Just started today at lunch time.
Went for a test driver and when I came back, the sales guy said he just received an email confirming a price drop on the Model Y.
Being a true OZBARGAIN guy, I bought one. Took all of 5 mins to order. 2 - 4 month deliver time.
If anyone thinking of getting one, now is a good time before they have massive back orders I guess.

State Driveaway price
VIC $74666
NSW $71757
ACT $71337
NT $73570
QLD $72856
SA $74360
TAS $71303

    • Ordered model y, hopefully we get provided with the charger on delivery. Not very confident about delivery ETA, the sooner the better in my situation. Looks like new orders from now are excepted April through to June.

Looks like plenty of existing new model 3 stock in Victoria now. Have been periodically checking model y existing stock and it’s rare to see, so appears to be more popular at the moment even while missing out on some extra government subsidies.

    Keeps coming

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj_AHpmxMak&t=220s

I know some tosla critics will say it's an US factory issue but do you really think the QC in China is any different or better?
At least in the US the factory to fix any issues is nearby but what if you have an issue in OZ? Send it back to the china factory?

These build issues are totally unaceptable for an $75K plus car. How people just accept this beats me??? panel gaps, paint issues, squeeking aircon and mirrors now you can add condensation in the lights to your check list…

it seems they are just pushing out vehicles to customers to meet delivery targets in the quarterly earning reports…you can't miss these qc issues unless you're sleeping on the job but they are trying to get away with it to drive up the numbers. That car should be priced at around or below $50k and still shouldn't have any such QC issues.

how's it going with the ACCC?

      • trying to work something out for them. Car has not arrived yet. so that will be last resort.

Meanwhile here is a list of class action lawsuits against tesla

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_lawsuits_involving_Tes….

from whompy wheels, to phantom breaking, employee harrasment to doge coin racketeering…take your pick. My personal favorite is "reselling lemon" cars. There's something wrong with this company.

        I once was a tesla fanboy…

Just cancel your order. Move on and get something else.

          • +1

@Heybargain: yes very likely scenario but disappointing after months and months of wait

Also hardware 4 has been released so the car is just getting better the later you order

            • +1

@MrBillions: It's going to be a while for HW4 to make it's way to the MY.

              • +1

@Heybargain: Perhaps some more variants of the MY would be nice too. There's still no long range.
Long Range with HW4, HUD, proper blindspot in mirror, sunshade and more refined interior for $60K plus government subsidy would be the sweet spot. I still keep dreaming…

            • -1

@MrBillions: Whats is in HW 4?

                • @MrBillions: Sounds like the same smoke and mirrors BS from Musk like Auto Pilot

Say the HW is a newer version without saying what's different

"This is how we’ve learned about the new camera pack included with the new sensor suite. Tesla will feature higher-resolution cameras with a wider field of view and reduce their number. The HW4 is also expected to come with a high-resolution radar, which contradicts everything Tesla has said about its “vision-only” beliefs."

What is that Musky smell I hear you say …

                  • +1

@[Deactivated]: It's probably higher end cpu I asume.
I still think taking radar out was a mistake.
I read reports that this coming back again soon.

                    • -1

@MrBillions: Taking out Radar and Ultra Sonic sensors was a complete FU

Musk sells the BS saying Tesla Vision (he got that from Wonka Vision) is better than Radar but he is just scamming buyers.

The real reason is there were supply shortages for all manufacturers so he could NOT get the Radar, U Sensor and Lumbar motor parts.
Instead of being honest like other manufacturers, he sells BS that the car is safer without them or they are never used 'because I can see the data'.

Its all smoke and mirrors, because if there is a decline in quarterly sales, the share price will TANK and he knows it.
This is the real reason for the emergency discounts of $20k as there is a drop in demand for EV's in USA and Europe and he is panicking there will be a dive in the Tesla Share Price

You are paying $75K for a car with:
                      - Vinyl Seats
                      - No Radar
                      - No Ultra Sonic Sensors for parking
                      - No Dash Speedometer in front of the steering wheel
                      - No buttons / nobs for music controls
                      - No buttons / nobs for heating / cooling
                      - No ventilated seats
                      - No cover for the sunroof
                      - No spare wheel
                      - No remote
                      - No charging cord
                      - Crap suspension. Watch any review and they all say the same thing.
                      - Cheap looking and crap internal fit and finish
                      - Crap construction (panel gap / paint finish issues)

                      The only Pros
                      - Fast 0-100 acceleration. Gets boring when you realise speed limit is 60km/h
                      - Sentry mode camera recording
                      - Reduce wear on the brakes with one pedal driving

Queue the Tesla Reps and fanbois …

      what happened to "I'm Out"

Can't stop dreaming…this could have been so good… Again this comes from a massive (ex) Tesla fan boy….

with buyers remorse, we get it
None of your 'complaints' are things which either didn't exist at the time of your order, or valid reasons to cancel an order (like above, complaining that new features might be in some future release.. that's literally every car)

poop or get off the pot, as they say….

          • -1

@SBOB: Hi, this is a bigger issue than just a technicality…it's about your customers and this would have been an opportunity to win a life long loyal customer back…

either way, no point of the back and forth here…we clearly have different point of views on how to look after customers…all good, it's normal that people have different opinions….

            • -1

              @MrBillions:

all good, it's normal that people have different opinions….

              true,
One of us likely understands contracts and making informed purchasing decisions.
The other, seemingly rich guy, seems to be looking for a bunch of invalid excuses as to why Tesla shouldn't get to keep their rather insignificant (in the scheme of the price of the car, and how 'terrible' the quality and customer service they offer is) $400 order fee.

              • -2

@SBOB: Mate, i'm not taking the bait…i work hard for my money and don't like giving it away for nothing.
Do you really read every fine print in contracts? I counted 10 pages of fine print in the tosla order agreement.
But once again, it's not about legalese bs, it's about looking after their customers's needs.

It's the vibe of it. It's the Constitution. It's Mabo. It's justice. It's law. It's the vibe and ah, no that's it….

Who placed an order for a Tesla y with the edd of Feb-may ?

  • Tesla increased their price for model Y by a few hundred dollars in here as well.

  • Up by $500. Why? Is it better by $500?

    • cough

  • NZ has an EV subsidy of $7500

    We're keep getting stitched here…

  • Some source(not reliable though) said further price drop in world-wide market (exclude US/China) would be at the investor day in March.

    • what source?

    • Didn’t appear to eventuate - don’t think any of these past price drops (or increases) really leaked in advance?

      • 6% off on all Models in Europe and UK from today, I hope they follow the suit here as well!

  • how does one check the pricing for model x? asking for a $350 deposit and not even knowing how much it will cost?

    • Pricing and options will be finalised as delivery approaches. You will be notified to complete your order when final pricing and options are published. Until then, your order will be considered a pre-order that you may cancel with a full refund.

      • oh interesting … like a box of choceys eh.

        Ta!

  • Bmw x Tesla coming ..finally once they have a baby it will be a decent luxury car…

Just placed my order for the Model Y! Still says Apr-Jun estimated delivery. Hopefully those who went in for that first round can update the rest of us when you get your cars - thanks in advance!

    • Ordered in Jan 2023 on the day of this post. Expected FEB - MAY. Still no VIN allocated. I think I would be lucky to get it by June.

      • VIN get's allocated only about 2 weeks before delivery, so I think should still get in allocated time. I'm hoping even if comes after end of March that it comes with the granny charger…

        • Gee sure hope you get yours soon. Yeah I just compared an order confirmation from a friend who purchased late last year, and his model Y came with the portable charger and also USB flash drive for the sentry mode, but our order confirmations are basically the same - how do we know what inclusions come with it and how can we argue to let them include those things if they don't come with it on the day?

Or does anyone have any documentation with their order that comes with inclusions?

          • +1

@ranma: it's been confirmed that cars delivered in Q1 will receive the UMC. USB flash drive will also be included.

after Q1, you may not receive the UMC. but you should get the USB flash drive.
