What btrfs?
1gb ram, not upgradable too
Just get + version of any synology nas
Just setting up my 920+ atm. Even just the GUI is lightening fast compared to my outgoing 218j
Just purchased Synology DiskStation DS220J from Amazon….any reports on this?
My 2x 10tbs WD Reds just arrived today (amazon) fingerst prossed the packaging was enough
Still waiting got my 4TBs to ship. What was the packaging like ?
Pointless I know but I chatted with them the other night re 'poor packaging anecdotes' and to pack my drives well lol
For some reason they threw me $10 credit.Yeah paakcing was like others reported, just the hard drive boxes with AIRplus bags inbetween. Not great.
Hoping for no issues
I bought this few weeks ago but returned it as it was just slow when it was doing nothing at all so I returned it and bought 220+ instead.
Have upgraded the RAM from 2GB to 10GB now (added 8GB) and its lightning fast.I have a 220+, but thought it's max RAM is 6 GB, (2GB soldered+4)
10gb works. ;)
Do you stream with it so is it good at transcoding and streaming in 4k?
Its alright. But i dont use synology media server / video station for this as its slow.
I use docker with Serviio (DLNA) which gives much better performance.
You cant use docker on J versions of NAS
I've got a DS220J. It's okay for what I intended it for, which is a backup target for my main NAS. That said, the interface is kinda slow, although serviceable but the difference is definitely noticeable compared to my ds418play. I also use it as a VPN for security cameras. Wouldn't be able to cope with any transcoding of course.
Got the same (w/ 10TB seagates) - works great.
Is this a good option for local backup only (i.e. not using as a Plex server or anything).
Don't want to get something too over-specced.
For simple backups, it will be plenty.
If you want more info on any of the NAS units, check out an YouTuber - nascompares he does excellent reviews and comparisons.
Used his info when looking for all 4 of my NAS, and he's spot on!Thanks will check it out as I am in the market for a NAS and am tossing between the 220+ and the 720+
Which NAS did you go with?
Is this something that people using Plex could use to stream their movies on¿
