@CyberMurning: So for example, buying something worth $200 and do split payment of 14 x 1c (or 1c, 2c, 3c……14c like you said before) then pay the rest on the last 15th transaction, is it correct?

But what products worth $200 at woolies or coles….

            • @hohoisme: Dont need 200 in one day or one shop one store i guess?

            • @hohoisme: maybe, just maybe…. you do 14x $1 at coles. total $14
then from home just buy a shoes online, or pay bills for $184 (for more)
              total $200

              assumed bills are okay

        • +1

It does say 15, not minimum of 15. To be sure i'd make sure to get over $200 spend within 15 transactions

  • pay some bills with the card at post office should count as $200

    • Thinking to pay car rego with it via bpay, definitely over $200!

  • +1

I hold suncorp credit card, am i eligible for this offer. Unsure if the credit card holders are counted as banking customers or not.

  • Was reading the T&C's again, $200 spend has to be made in 15 transactions (not 15+ transactions) so if you make 15 transactions and havent gotten to $200 but still spend $200 within 30 days does that mean you dont get the $50 lol

    • Confusing….

      They should just say

      1. Make minimum of 15x transactions in a month
      2. Spend total $200 (or $500 we don't mind) by end of the month.

      Why banks are complicated?

  • Why would anybody take the time to open a new account, jump thru 15 hoops, spend minimum monies, etc. just to hope to receive $50? Good grief. Even my FOMO is not strong enough to do something like this.

    • +7

we're in recession. almost every month receive letter from bank title your mortgage repayment increases.
$50 can help here and there

    • +3

I opened an account this morning which took me no more than 5 minutes on the PC. I can definitely spend $200 within 15 purchases here and there so why not? And I am way more motivated to get something back from the bank if i could

    • +1

It really wasnt that hard to open the account (in fact a bit scary because someone who knew you well enough and had access to your medicare card could open an account) and im going to be spending $599 on my car rego anyway, and i do go grocery shopping so its a matter of getting the 15 transactions, no extra money is spent, so why not? Didnt even have to wait the 7 business days for the physical card to arrive as it can be set up on google pay straight away

      • Does payment of water bills count at post office btw?

        • It should. Its a transaction. The punctuation on the T&C's had me a bit wary but I might be looking into it too much.

A Qualifying Purchase includes all transactions made on a linked VISA Debit card, payWave transactions, Apple Pay or Google Pay purchases made with the digital wallet online or in a physical store. Any subscription payments made via the linked VISA debit card or Direct Debit and any BPay transactions. Purchases must have settled and have debited the Eligible Transaction Account within the qualifying period.

Im planning to pay a bill via bpay, can anyone confirm that will be okay?

    • 5 mins to register, setup Google pay and transfer $250 to my account. Well worth it.

      • +1

Huh? You need 15x and how to transfer using gpay?

        • I meant I transferred $250 to the suncorp account ready to make the 15x transactions. Sorry for the confusion..

this is oz-bargain.. you might be more suited for oz-im-not-impressed-with-50-bucks

I mean this in the nicest way and not a sarcastic one, if an extra $50 doesn't mean much to you then you should feel grateful. $50 goes a long way for many people, especially those currently unemployed, on disability payments or just making ends meet. 15 transactions isn't a lot when you pay groceries, buy takeout, buy supplies, pay bills, etc.. $50 would nearly cover weekly groceries for the average single person.

  • this is very complicated for a $50 reward.

    https://www.suncorp.com.au/banking/bank-accounts/everyday-ac…

    Section 4
    (c) have not held any banking products with Suncorp Bank 30 days prior to opening this account (together referred to as an “Eligible Customer”).

i have a dormant Growth Saver account with $0.00 in it. last login was Feb 2021.

I wont qualify as a new customer then. time to close down my account!

  • Which account should you choose?

    • +1

They are almost identical but the biggest difference for me was that the carbon one has no overdraft fees and more overdraft protection. None of the differences had any impact on how easy it is to get the bonus.

  • Anyone knows if bill payment counts?

  • Thanks OP. Also confirming no need to give TFN, and an account literally takes less than 5 minutes to open.

  • will hold on opening until i understand the t&c more.

too bad no suncorp rep in here

Can’t you just bpay a credit card 15 times and pay 200 against a credit card bill?

    • you should do 14x of $1, then $186 (or more).
      the t&c says 200 in 15 transacs

thats a good idea ! but not sure…

      • Yeah I agree, I think this is the best suggestion for this deal if honoured. Better than the $0.01 Colesworth + Prezzee strategy because Prezzee sometimes offers extra value (and same with bonus cashback on ShopBack Super Swap), and even if you wait for that, you'd be forgoing the ability to stack with a discounted prepaid card or credit card that earns points.

Took one for the team and called Suncorp.

Paying bills, either in person or bpay is a-okay and counts as an eligible transaction.

As far as the 15 transactions goes, you have to make 15 transactions within 30 days totalling over $200. Does NOT have to be the first 15 transactions, but $200 has to be within 15 transactions.

Say you made 20 transactions, 15 of those have to equal or be more than $200. So cant spread it over 20 transactions to get over $200, but doesnt have to be the FIRST 15 transactions.

To play it safe, i'd get over the $200 in the first 15 transactions anyway, but thats what she said was okay

    • Over or at 200?

      • It says $200 and over. I could pick at their grammar saying it should say $200 or over, but yeah. Just spend $200.05 or something. They should really just make it clear and say 'at least $200'. The whole thing isnt worded terribly clearly. When i asked about the 15 transactions she asked me to hold on and she'd go and check so I dont think it was terribly clear to her either

    • Yeah I would spend over $200 in the first 15 transactions just in case anyways…

It is not that hard with an upcoming bill to be paid to meet the requirement, then I can just do the 1c split payment trick at Woolies

      Thanks for the update mate

      • Actually better way is to pay bpay bill $200 then go to coles to do 14x $1 or 1cents

        • Is Bpay of bill 100% or better to pay in person at Post Office?

          • @hohoisme: read above from rain cloud.
or you can help us with double checking (calling suncorp)
usually that is the best way, call twice or 3x to speak with 3 different staffs to confirm 1 thing.
you know those call centre people ……

    • Is buying for ebay or amazon considered as eligible transaction?

  • I wonder if topping up Revolut counts as a transaction. It did for Virgin Money. I'm not eligible anyway as I have an account with them.

  • Done my 15 transactions, hope the $50 comes through in Feb

    • Good luck! Did you do 14x1c haha?

      • +1

I am sure he did 14x1c and then went ha ha

      • No, I just split a $5ish payment in 10 and had a few other transactions including a bpay bill. I don't understand the obsession with 1cent payments, I just split the payment of something I needed to buy anyway lol

        • Some people want to put all spend through credit cards etc, so they want to put as little as they can through this card to get the $50.

          • @bohn: Ah. I paid my TMR bills with bpay to avoid the credit card surcharge, I only have a lowly CC, not worried about the spend on it

            • @Rain Cloud: Yup people with black amex usually try to put every possible cents into it, because the points they get is good in value.

        • I’m lucky if I even make 10-15 transactions a month. That’s why I do the 1c thing. Rather get it out of the way in one go and not have to worry if I’m going to do enough.

        • When you used BPay to pay your bill, did you just BPay from your Suncorp transaction account? I am wondering if using Everyday Options account to BPay electricity bill is a qualifying transaction. When I did BPay I could only pay from my Everyday Options account. I couldn't Bpay using my debit card via internet banking. Thanks.

  • I received my card today. 15 transactions is a lot to do in a month, since I don't use my card in-person a lot. I was hoping online deposits into share trading or crypto accounts would work, could just deposit 15x.

Probably just do the split payment method or split my shops up multiple times.

  • -4

Much easier refferal/welcome offer, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/751939 does require $1000 deposit for a few days

    • For someone not associated(supposedly) you sure do like spruiking this. And in case you are wondering why there wasn’t more support it’s because most people don’t like transferring $1k to a random company that no one has ever heard of before.

      • It's not a random company, maybe do some research? You need to deposit the money for around three days.

  • Hi can it be more than 15 transactions ? As I have 16 transactions in total :( of 201$

  • Anyone got it yet? Completed the transactions last month and its the 1st today

    • Nope. I setup a balance alert so it emails me as soon as there is a change.

    • +1

Haven't got mine yet either. It's probably a 14 day thing.

    • +3

According to Suncorp, at the end of the month.

    • +1

Thanks, fingers crossed it comes through by the end of Feb

  • +2

Haven't received mine yet.. Still waiting !

  • +2

Haven't received mine yet.. Still waiting !

    • Received my $50 yesterday

  • Luckily I can do 1c payments for my council rates online. Don't have to go to the shops at a POS.

    • I did one card doing the 1c thing at self checkout and another card doing BPay to my Ergon energy 1c amounts. Technically complied with the requirements so will see.

      • I actually did a couple at the supermarket to test my card. And none of these 1c transactions are hitting my account, my balance remains untouched… do I have an endless spend card?!

        • +1

I thought that too. Took a solid 3-4 days for them to show up. Didn’t decrease the balance either or show up as pending. The thought did cross my mind that I had a endless spend card as well lol.

  • +2

    Received my $50

    • +1

Same. So much for the notification option working. Received it on both mine and partners account.

Done myself a mischief. I had 36c left on one account before the $50 came. In my haste to transfer out I did $50 leaving the 0.36c. “you cannot transfer less then $1.00”.

    • Me too 👍🏻👍🏻

  • Received mine too. Is it worth to keep the Suncorp account?

    • Maybe yes, if their new rewards program will be useful?

  • +1

Got mine today, pretty easy! Did all my ‘purchases’ through Beem it transactions, took about 10 mins :)

  • Closing account seems to require a phone call

  • Got my $50 on 23rd.

I won't close until they reveal what their new rewards scheme is
