Open Simply Access Account, Get $50 Cashback after 60 Days (No Deposit Required, New Customers Only) @ Heritage Bank

1210

Same as the last deal, except that you don't even need to deposit this time - you just get the money for opening the account.

People's Choice Credit Union is running the exact same deal, however you can only get one bonus $50 from People's Choice or Heritage Bank - you can't get it from both under the T&Cs since they're the same company now.

Terms & Conditions:
  1. The Offer is made by Heritage and People’s Choice Ltd ABN 11 087 651 125, Australian Financial Services Licence 244310 and Australian Credit Licence 244310 (HPC) trading as Heritage Bank (‘Heritage Bank’).
  2. By participating in this Offer, you accept and agree to these terms and conditions.
  3. The offer is that Heritage Bank will credit $50 into your account (Cashback Amount) if you meet the eligibility criteria set out in clause 5 below and the conditions set out in clause 6 below during the Offer Period (Offer).
  4. The Offer commences on Monday, 2 December 2024 and closes on Wednesday, 30 April 2025 (Offer Period).
  5. To participate in this Offer, you must not currently be a member of HPC.
  6. During the Offer Period, to receive the Cashback Amount, the following conditions apply:
    (a) You must become a personal member of HPC and open a Simply Access Account no later than 2 days after the personal membership opening.
    (b) All accountholders of the new Simply Access Account must meet the eligibility criteria in clause 5.
    (c) The new Simply Access Account will receive a maximum of one (1) Cashback Amount irrespective of the number of accountholders.
    (d) If an account with multiple accountholders receives the Cashback Amount, all accountholders are considered to have received the payment.
    (e) An accountholder will receive a maximum of one (1) Cashback Amount irrespective of the number of Simply Access Accounts opened.
  7. The Cashback Amount will be paid into the eligible Simply Access Account within 60 days of opening the account. The Simply Access Account must remain open at the time of payment and if it is not Heritage Bank will not need to pay the Cashback Amount.
  8. HPC is one entity and a member of HPC will receive a maximum of one (1) Cashback Amount, irrespective of whether that person has opened a Heritage Bank branded Simply Access Account or a People’s Choice branded Everyday Living Account (ie a member who participates in HPC’s Everyday Living Cashback $50 Offer cannot also participate in HPC’s Simply Access Cashback $50 Offer).
  9. The following individuals are not eligible to receive this Offer:
    (f) a director or former director of HPC or any entity to which HPC is the successor in law, or of a subsidiary or related entity of HPC or of any entity to which HPC is the successor in law and their immediate family members (immediate family means any of the following: spouse, de-facto spouse, child or stepchild); or

    another account, but hey $50!

  • +5

For those still waiting on last one, 10th January 😴

  • Not done one of these before - what’s the catch? Can I simply cash out after 60 days and close the account?

    • +2

Yup, there has been plenty like this or referral programs:
      ING
      ANZ Plus
      People's Choice
      IMB
      myState
      Ubank

Except it appears that People's Choice deliberately roadblocked at least some applications in order to not have to honour the most recent $50 promo.

PC declined some people's applications, for no apparent reason and without notifying the applicants, and seemingly acted in a way that meant that at least some applications which would normally be processed within 24-48 hours were not processed before the 30 November promo end date.

This would appear to be deliberate misconduct to deny a measly $50 from a promo that they voluntarily chose to offer in the first place.

It'll be interesting to see if any issues occur with this Heritage Bank offer.

        • It looks like they failed to cover themselves for the possibility of savvy bargain hunters applying to both banks. I applied to both but won't be too upset if I miss out on one bonus. The bank could have made this clearer.

          • @peter: How so? The T&C's quoted in the OP appear clear:-

HPC is one entity and a member of HPC will receive a maximum of one (1) Cashback Amount, irrespective of whether that person has opened a Heritage Bank branded Simply Access Account or a People’s Choice branded Everyday Living Account

            • @UrMumsOnlyFan: I am basically agreeing with your original post in which you imply the same thing, that PC (People's Choice) deliberately roadblocked some applications (including mine), obviously because they didn't make what is in the terms and conditions more explicit. By more explicit, perhaps Heritage People's Choice (HPC) should have included this in other places than just the 'fine print'. This is an expression of my personal opinion; queue the outrage.

On closer examination I see that condition 8 in the current offer is very clear, condition 8 was not in the previous offer.

              • +1

@peter: Interesting they have added Condition 8.
I have previously done Peoples Choice and then signed up for Heritage in the last offer (without clause 8). Hoping they pay on the 10th Jan and don't quote the newly introduced condition…

        • Yeah, same for me. After I followed up with them twice, they just declined the application saying that your application was unsuccessful and unfortunately we can't provide any information as to why it got rejected! Never ever been rejected for a bank account before. Avoid people's choice and save time. They are very dodgy

Well, there is a catch with ING. You can sign up for an account in two seconds online but their website mysteriously fails to load pages that should allow you to close the very same account. Just like how you can subscribe no worries to so many services but oh my would u like at that, 404 error purely on our unsubscribe page, amazing! This is something Lina Khan was trying to redress recently in the US but obviously that's over now given the US election results. The goal was though: it should be as easy to unsubscribe for something as it is to subscribe. So i have a bad taste in my mouth from ING about the last one of these.

The catch is whether the bank offering the free money actually comes through on their promise, or whether they manufacture barriers and roadblocks to try to get out of honouring a deal that no one forced them to offer in the first place.

Interesting to see how many issues may crop up for people applying for this one.

Don’t forget to use the random referral as well

  • Anyone else have trouble when asked to enter their medicare number? The text box has "**** ***** *" and cant see numbers when you enter. Tried entering my number with no spaces and then spaces as per medicare card. Still no luck. Wont let me verify identity as when I click submit it keeps saying I entered my medicare card number wrong.
Finally gave up and then started again but to sign up for my wife. When asked "can you provide medicare card?" I said no and then it didnt ask for it, just drivers license details. Proceeded to verify and finished the process and then opened the account up for my wife. Turns out didnt need to provide medicare card in the end. Dont know why they wanted it in the first place then.

    • The trick is to type it in notepad and then copy it in.
This saves me so many times on bad days dealing with passwords.

      • Ok thanks. Anyway around this if im using my mobile phone? Cbb getting out the laptop to do this. I use my mobile for everything nowadays. I also tried "desktop view" with no luck.

        • Copy/paste it from an sms chat box, is what I've done.

Wary of these deals now, while ING paid me, Bank of Melbourne reneged on deal and wouldn't budge when I pressed them to honour the deal. BoM scumbags.

    • +1

      AFCA complaint will resolve that.

  • +3

Signed up for the last deal, they're a good bank. Have won an ongoing customer.

Done. Thanks OP. I will contact AFCA if they don't pay me the $50 after 60 days.

  • Is it still working without medicare card? I opened one successfully but I used drive licence only

  • Has anyone received an email with their member number? The page refreshed that had the details on it, so now I am stuck with no details

There's a warning on the application page:

We are experiencing an increased volume of fraudulent account opening attempts. To protect our members there may be a delay in your account availability due to additional checks being performed.

This is not quite the same as the last deal, the Terms & Conditions on this offer are different, the previous offer had 12 conditions, the current offer has only 8 conditions but note condition 8 in the current offer. This was not on the previous offer or not written in such a clear way.

  • Thanks OP. Signed up with no issues. Make sure your middle name matches correctly.

  • Used all 3 methods of ID but didn’t work for me.

  • Has anyone worked out how submit the referrer member number AFTER you open the account. It said we have 28 days to apply the referral and can do it anytime…but i cant work out where now.

Also - FYI: i had alot of issues with my password. My usual password has special characters…turns out Herritage systems dont like special characters. I had to ring up and get my pwd reset to something else
