    • How? It would be for people who already were approved to come.

Really shows where the vested interests lie whilst GDP is growing but Inflation massively outstrips GDP per Capita every year since 2017. Quality of life be damned!

      • It’s pretty evident the plan to keep immigration high is intentional just to avoid a recession.

Capitalism baby! We need constant growth until the planet be damned!

How can someone be enticed to migrate by just $50?

      • -3

most migrants dont even have $50

    • "They took our jobs!"

  • They also have a 5.2% savings acct intro rate for 5 months with the same qualification. Tempted to take them up on that in a few months - although not 100% sure if they would accept me (I recently returned to Australia after >10 years ago, but still have a foreign drivers license which is on their list)

  • They give you $50, then they take the $50 plus the $100 you deposited in monthly fees because you don't have enough in your account to avoid the fees.

  • Anyone who is not a resident actually been able to open a westpac account for this deal?
Tried online, but then website said had to visit a branch to verify ID. Went into a branch and verified ID but the application still shows as in progress, branch staff advised they are not able to help any further with the application other than the ID check.

    • dual citizens will likely be able to. im sure there are a ton of brits on here who could get away with this. personally cannot be bothered for $50 though.

  • yeah, one of the t's and c's is that you are newly arrived in last 12 months+ have a foreign ID.
