  • This sounds like it could be a good deal.
If I understood what it is????.

I would check if the ISP modem has locked DNS settings before you jump on a deal like this

Need to stay 36 months to keep free Google items!

      • Need to pay Optus for 36 months to get the included items :)
    • +3

The items aren't free, you pay them off over 36 months and they are built into the price.

    Not worth

Tbh bring your modem at $89 3 months to get points is really good. 100/20 works out $117 for 3 months if you subtract points value.

    • Yep, considering that too but want hassle free 4g backup for wfh

  • +10

    No thanks Floptus.

  • If it was 70$ for the 100 plan then worth otherwise nope. Usually can get 6 months of 70$ at 100mbps, along with some free months of hopping (not to mention spintels offer)

  • I previously signed up to a deal with optus were they promised something at the end of the 36 month contract. Come time to redeem three years later, none of the staff knew what I was talking about and ended up having to write to head office with screenshots of the deal to get it.

    • What was it, did you get it?

    • You get the Google products at the beginning. You will only be charged if you don't serve the 3 year sentence.

    • what was the promise deal?

I wouldn't lock into any provider for that amount of time right now (or ever, really), given that if the ACCC accept the new pricing model by the end of March, new pricing for the 100mbit+ tiers will come into affect 1st July. (The removal of CVC charges for these plans. CVC overage is a huge cost for RSPs)

    See:

    36 months. Bahahahahahahahahaha.

    • Pretty smart of them “locking” people in now then!

    • Still in consultation and the table shows only real saving on 1000/50. The rest show less than a dollar reduction or even an increase

      • SingaporeInc aka SingTel aka Floptus aren't stupid Just we are I swapped to IINEt aka Vodaphone much cheaper n 5G

      • You have to factor in the $8/mbit of overage that the RSP has to purchase in order to actually stay afloat and not chug during peak time.

        250Mbps
        $89/mth (first 6 mths)
        then $99 ongoing

        No contract.

        • I've tried them. Not great. Almost as bad as Mate.
Superloop and exetel have been fantastic.
Also no 4G backup if you suffer regular drop outs

          • +1

@Kanjus: I went from superloop to myrepublic.
Daily dropouts to none for 3 months so far. Would never go back.
I just don't see the point in contracting for so long when you get change iso every 6 months for the cheaper price.

          • @Kanjus: Cheers. Now I'll save an extra $5 per month.

            Change to Flipconnect:

            SUPER SPEED 250mb

            $84 p/month for 6 month,
            then $94.90 ongoing

So the existing customers get nothing?
Will it work if I have a talk with them?

    • Second that! Maybe we should move out and move back in!

    • what is optus NBN like compare other ISP including Telstra etc.?

      • Pretty much the best.

Always over delivers on speed and I have never had internet down from the provider, only from modem death. Which optus was super helpful as at the time I was on an older style plan so didn't have a modem with 4g backup, so they got me to go in store and pickup a dongle which they then immediately credited back to me. And I had new modem delivered for free within couple days, I was on month to month and remained like that also.

And the 36 months is for repayment of the modem. You can just pay out the modem and the service is not contracted. That would be obvious to see anyone if you just look at the BYO modem it's month to month.

Check out my Speedtest result! How fast is your internet? https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/8954607189

        • Oh and I just recontracted to get the google devices for $1. So recons are fine.

Also got my folks 2 mobiles plans at 50% off and google pixel 7 pro with pixel 6a free, all together for less than they were paying telstra for plans only with the phone on a 12 month repayment.

Oh and Without international calls, which they now get with optus.

          So I dunno.

Your mileage may vary, but for me it has been the most reliable, over delivered, best value dollar per dollar and most helpful from customer service.

I asked for a speed pack coz I been with optus long time they said OK. Here have a $20 credit permanently.

          • @DpMario11: do you get free home phone with optus?

do you know how much the google promo is worth (when on sale)?

where do you use the promo code to get the google products (ie what store)?

what do you get in the google security starter kit?

  • +1

Don't forget $60 cashback on cashrewards for new optus nbn customer

    • Links are broken from both Cash rewards and Shopback. Wonder if they have suspended Cashback while the Flybuys promo is running?

      • Its not an optus offer, but run by flybuys so cashback probably won't work

        • do you get home phone with this ?

  • Waiting for starlink to be under $100 per month, will be the option I go for….cmon Elon

  • I purchased the $79 nbn plan BYO, it just sent me a message ‘we received your order’, but they did not let me select the activation date.

  • +1

what is included in the package Google Nest Kit
and how much is it normally worth on sale (not RRP)?

    • Same

      • I mean - I have the same question

  • Does not make sense why it says:
Fixed line internet is not available in your area.

I have nbnt50 already with Super Loop so why can't Optus provide it?
