Model Number: CH-9119014-NA (Speed Version)

Looks to be a good price. My keyboard has a dead key so I need to get a new one ASAP. Had a look for best gaming keyboards and this one came up on a few lists. After seeing some comments about TKL keyboards and seeing this on sale, I thought why not give it a try. rtings.com have this to say about the speed switches:

The Speeds have very low pre-travel distance and are light to press. However, we noticed that the switches don't feel completely linear like those on the Corsair K95 PLATINUM because there's a tactile event before the actuation point, similar to tactile switches, but this shouldn't be noticeable for most people.

  • Great keyboard. It is also available on Amazon for $160 delivered

    • What do you find great about the keyboard?

      • +1

Great build quality, premium feeling aluminum frame, decent aluminum volume roller, and detachable type-c cable. I have the Cherry red switch and a absolutely love the typing experience. My last Corsair mechanical keyboard lasts 8 years, hopehully this one will also do. The only concern is chances of getttng a faulty one, as the first one I bought from Amazon had a faulty type-c connecter, had to replace from Amazon. The replacement works fine

Could/Should be a few more places to C&C now that they own MSY. ; )

logitech G815 deal was much better for ~$93

Didn't think I needed a keyboard back then. The one you are referring to wasn't TKL either was it? Would have been nice to try the K100 at $199 but I can't go back in time. Nice chance to try a TKL and see what the fuss is about.

white akko tkl / black akko tkl / more akko stuff
    quick look at akko switches
This TKL is still $89 with free shipping and jelly pink linear switches. Feels very premium, swappable 5pin switches and key caps. It has RGB but no dedicated media keys.

I know you custom keyboard folks gonna laugh at this but theres very 'valid' reasons many of us go big brands even with the markup:

      • For one, warranty of course, there is no warranty to speak of on these small chinese brands, dont raise your pitchforks just yet, I know these are hotswappable so easily fixabled by oneself if a key breaks, I know just because they are chinese doesnt mean they arent of good quality-heard the akko name a lot. But ultimately they arent a big brands and aren going to offer warranty like the big guys does it.

      • For two, rgb, I know what you want to say - but these have rgb, yes they do, but they cant be synced up to anything, I think I speak for many folks with lots of rgb vomit that while we like the vomit we like it organised-such as all lights sync up together. You cant do that with these custom keyboards, with corsair not only can I sync with other corsair products, but third party solutions such as SignalRGB support cross syncing with different brands' periphericals. And you dont get that support with these smaller branded, custom keyboards.

      • Fair points

      • I didn't even know ppl synced up their rgb lights! I was only looking at the $ value. :)

If sold by an Australian seller like this is I imagine the warranty is much the same.

      • That should be one good thing for me. Almost all of my RGB gear is Corsair. My keyboard is AW. For whatever reason, AW's software does something that stops my screen going to sleep. A real PITA.

My first Corsair RGB keyboard many many years ago DOA twice so I'm hoping they are better these days.

Your first point is kinda invalid, Akko is sold through pccg so ofc there is warranty through them. Also Corsair is bigger than Akko no doubt, but if we talk about mechanical keyboard only then Akko is better, typing experience wise (both feeling and sounds). The RGB part I agree and it's the main selling point of the stock keyboards brand (Corsair, Razor, Logitech….), but is it worth nearly twice the price? Don't think so

https://en.akkogear.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/3108_3087… - Have a look at the docs, you can do plenty with the rgb not just some pre-set lightings. Ofc it's still not at Corsair level but still enough for most users. And this is just a 89 aud keyboard, get yourself a 300$ custom keyboard with full QMK/VIA and you can do even more than what stock keyboards can do.

    • Thanks, bought the Jelly Pink one. Coming from a Ducky One 2 mini, now I can have my Fn keys again.

  • Which one should I get? The MX Speed or Optical?
Currently using a custom board with AKKO Rose Red…I know these are cheap switches but I really like it after trying out heaps of other Akko switches.

  • I have the older model of this and the text on the main ASWD keys started to fade after about a years use. Now after a few years of use the "W" key sometimes doesn't register and the "A" key registers 2 pushes on a single push.

    • were those abs keycaps? this one has pbt

  • +1

Decent quality product at decent price. Not that common for these "gaming brand" mech keyboards to come with PBT keycaps, usually have crappy ABS.

  • Holding out till the led display keys keyboard comes out, by then, I'll do C&C in my flying car.
