  • Air China…

    Air China,
    China Southern Air
    Vietnam Airlines.

Personally I'd spend the extra $150 to go with Korean Air or $200 with Virgin

yeah but for a family of 4 it still adds 800 bux to the price… :S

if it where just me and one person then yeah… 200 for virgin seems much better.

still cheap flighs though so + from me…

      • that's fair enough.
Although from many people who've traveled to the US with kids,
They'd pay an extra $800 for a decent plane with working screen :-)

For $800 you could buy a nice portable DVD player / game unit for them to keep & still have money left over.

    • I can report that Korean air is excellent. Make sure you get on their new planes. If you go on seat guru you will find that their economy leg room is more than most.

      • 2nd that - Korean air is awesome! Great service and friendly air line staff.

    • Vietnam airlines aren't bad
They started out with support from QANTAS on the Aus-Vietnam route with the pilots trained by QANTAS. Also the Vietnam-Paris leg is half flown by Air France and the other Vietnam Airlines (depending on which day you fly).

      • I've travelled with vietnam airlines and thought they were crummy.

For the price I was paying with a full service airline, I expected some sort of AVOD. Also the softdrinks were flat and poured from 2lt PET bottles.

nothing wrong with china southern (never flown air china or veitnam air), i have flown with them twice in the past 2 years and don't have any complaints. if your that concerned, you can book it so that from china to europe is operated by air france, just look for the magic word 'codeshare' when choosing your flight

I was interested until I saw the airlines LOL

      oh, that is so funny!!!
guess you'll never know the difference other than there not as many french ppl as you thought lol!!!

  • My parents in law recently travelled to London with Air China. They had a really bad experience - departure flight from Sydney was delayed for 20 hours. They had to reclaim all checked in luggage and checked in again next day. On return flight at their stop over in China they had to transit through an extra domestic flight which had no mention in their itinerary. They had to claim their luggage and check it in yet again. They would not recommend it, especially to a family with young kids.

    • Thanks for the advice sbk786, I've got a little one that is super hyper so this doesn't sound too convenient to me :(

  • I was on one of these flights last year, I won't do it again due to the 12 hour stop over been so boring! But apparently I could have changed the ticket to make it a longer stop over so you can visit the city for 24 hrs. If that is the case, I would do it.
