25% off VinoMofo.com When Buy with PayPal ($9 or $13 Shipping Per Case)

Just got an email. Limited selection of wines, but this might be handy for someone. Limit to 2,000 cases, there is a counter on their main page. $9 postage per case of six, $13 per case of 12. Note that a "case" may be either 6 or 12 bottles depending on the wine.

I think you have to be a member to view their wine deals - there are a few 94 point red's and a few unrated whites on offer. I got myself a 6 pack of "The Islander Estate 'Old Rowley' Grenache Shiraz Viognier 2006" for $14.25 a bottle. 95 JH points

Discount is taken off after you go to PayPal screen.

One decent looking price is Yalumba The Scribbler Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2009.
It's 94 points James Haliday so should be nice. $16.15 from DM, $18.95 from Cracka.
With discount and postage, $12.06 from VinoMofo.

  • Yalumba Scribbler is a seriously good wine, similar to and almost as good as Penfolds Bin 389 which is around $40.

It's a cellaring wine which will only get better over the nest 5-10 years if stored at a constant temperature (12'c-18'c) If you live in Darwin you'd better drink it quick if you don't have a proper wine fridge. If you live in Tasmania you'll be OK if you store it in the coolest part of the house where the sun never touches.

Yeah. That's true. I live in VIC and keep my wine in the coolest part of the house. However, each summer it will get to about 35 or so for at least one day. Guess I had better buy a wine fridge!!

      • Aldi 40 bottle (you can squeeze up to 50 in no problem) wine fridges are about $160. I've got one and am going to get another to stack above it. Keep it in the coolest part of the house still to keep the electicity bills down ;)

Oh cool, that's not too much. Do you know the make/model? I cannot see anything on their website, so wondering if they still sell them?

        • As always with Aldi, products like this are only on sale once or twice a year.

        • That model's not bad, but almost a 100% price increase for less than 50% more volume. Not sure why its got a half glazed door (all glass or no glass I would have thought.

Also if you have a problem, returning it would be pain (and more expense.) Aldi have a great returns policy.

        • True. Also, I realised the type of fridge will only keep wine cool if the ambient room temp is 25 degrees or less! This would be pointless in summer, even in Melbourne! I started to google how to retro-fit a fridge to become a wine fridge, there are some good options out there, I'm considering using this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/thermostat-temperature-controller…

        • Whosaidtha? My wine fridge was keeping my wine at 14-16'c throughout the summer. No problems. I guess the technology has improved recently.

  • I wish their baby site would open up soon. It's said "starts July 2012" for a while now, and its already 9th July!
