I was just looking around for the cheapest price for a Panasonic TZ30 and stumbled across this. Looked like a decent price, but I've never dealt with Eglobal, so I'm not sure if they're dodgy or not.

You would have to assume this is grey stock and warranty would be 12 months (return to Eglobal).

(This price is for the white version, blue is + $5)

I bought Sony NEX 7 with lens kit from them. I paid for the quick shipping. On the site states that will be in 2 or 3 days. I should be at my home on 6/7 but still haven't got it yet. So it's better to choose the normal shipping. Hope it will come before my travel.

    • What's to say that the "normal" shipping will arrive on time though?

    • I've ordered many things from eGlobal and have never had any issue so far. (about 6-7 times) Heck, I ordered HTC Ones X 3 weeks ago and it arrived within 1 business day with choosing just free standard delivery. (Ordered on Sunday night, received on Tuesday via Fedex International Priority) My friend was the same as he got his the very next day from date of order. It all depends if they have it in stock ready to ship or not I reckon.

For a phone that is so high in demand, the price is falling so quickly,
That $500 price point shouldn't be long now

    • +2

Yep. Getting excited. :D I will most likely buy it outright and hop straight over to Live Connected.

    • +1

At the end of this year I reckon? Just like the S2.

  • +6

Can't believe the phone is dropping n price so fast.

Maybe Samsung is trying to get as many sales pre iPhone 5 to steal Apples' thunder

      • +11

I dunno whether you're trolling or not. S3 is not just a slight bump in specs from S2. Much higher display resolution, two more cores, better camera, bigger screen, new Touchwiz, etc

And Note 2 is just rumoured to be announced in Sep-Oct, not August.

        • +2

The price of around $800 can't really be blamed on Samsung but the Australian dealers here. On launch Asian countries like Singapore and Malaysia were selling the phone at around AUD 650 for original, non-grey. It's just that the phone trend here changes slower so prices are marked high and drop slow compared to grey stock which are from Asian countries or Europe.

And people just have to stop talking bad about PenTile because at 720p it's not noticeable at all. And it's supposed to last longer than the normal RGB arrangement. I know PenTile doesn't matter and the 720p worth it because I previously used a S2 and now a Note.

Quad core ensures zero lag at all in everyday usage and zero shutter lag camera photo taking. The new TouchWiz and quad core makes it an even better user experience especially to the mainstream users you're talking about, which include iPhone users, no?

        • -1

Of course pentile is noticeable; reviews say that you can see the pixels if you try - the only reason people say this is to feel better about their purchase. Your statement is false. Saying that, I agree with you, the screen is brilliant & the excuse about pentile lasting longer than RGB is probably true (although there is no data supporting this claim).

Quad Core SHOULD ensure zero lag, yes; but on EVERY video you see of the stock SGS3 there is plenty of lag; please, show me one where this isn't. Why do you think google put so much effort into Project Butter for Jellybean 4.1? Is never was the speed of the CPU, it has always been the software. I'd say that with the GB ROM & the kernel I am currently running it will have less lag than a stock SGS3.

Touchwiz does not make a better user experience at all; its one objective is to make iPhone users feel more at home and it does a poor job of that, it still looks like a 3 year old skin.

        • +1

TouchWiz 4 of S2 is, TW 5 of S3 not. If you have properly looked through videos showing its interface or test one yourself, you'll know.

For videos showing the 'fluidity' simply YouTube "galaxy s3 international version phonedog review" and you'll see plenty. If you only watched the US variants which only run dual core S4 chips then there'll be some lagging here and there.

Project Butter simply brings it to another level especially for dual core phones and even more so for a quad core phone.

Reviewers always nitpick especially those spoiled with Retina Display on a 3.5" screen. You'll only see the Pentile arrangement when you zoom in with a camera. You normally would not see it at all unless you use your phone 1 mm away from your eyes at all time 24/7.

The main thing is the 720p and AMOLED screen. You can get 720p and RGB arrangement but it'll be LED or IPS which won't be as battery-saving and deeply contrast blacks.

I definitely won't be trying to make myself feel better for my purchase decision because I simply know what I was getting before I got it.

        • +3

Of course pentile is noticeable; reviews say that you can see the pixels if you try - the only reason people say this is to feel better about their purchase.

Looking at the phone on display at mobile shops, I could quite clearly see the black dots on the screen.

On the One X I struggled to see individual pixels. Probably could with a magnifying glass, but unassisted I have no complaints about that screen.

        • +3

Last time I checked, Dual-core S4 SoC with A15 cores is faster (in terms of CPU) than the quad core Exynos. (e.g. See GSM arena review of SGS3 page 5) Also, the dual core S4 version of SGS3 has 2GB of RAM where as the non-US variant only has 1GB.

Comparing the SGS3, Galaxy Note, Nokia Lumia 800, N9, HTC One X, iPhone4s etc. The only phones that I felt are near completely lag free were Lumia 800 and iPhone4s. Heck, the Lumia 800 with the slowest single core CPU of them all felt the quickest/smoothest in common tasks/apps such as Phone/Contacts/Gallery/Market/Facebook/Email etc. (Heck, in some things/operations, Lumia 800 (Windows Phone 7.5) just feels way faster than SGS3 or iPhone4s) Gotta hand it to Microsoft for doing something Google failed to do for all these years.

On another note, I for one will never use a phone with an LCD now. It just looks no where near as good as AMOLED be it pentile or not in terms of contrast/blacks/saturation etc. When using them at pitch black environment (at night in bed etc), the AMOLED is in a league of its own compared to even the best of IPS LCD.

        • It's down to personal preference. I think both phones are great in there own way. I've got the One X myself, and I'd say the screen is the main selling point. That said, the SGS3 has good hardware specs, which may be useful to those who need it.

Back on topic, that advertised price is pretty good.

      • +3

I think they used the 'S3' name to sell high numbers before the iP5 drops (and to convert the Apple users who had enough of waiting for the iP5).

If I understand the Apple market correctly, a large majority of iPhone owners get their phones on contracts (~$59 p/m) and sign a new contract every 24 months and get the next phone. They wouldn't be waiting for iP5 which has no announced specs or features yet. When their contract is done they will get their next one, until then they will keep their current phone.

I personally don't like AMOLED screens. They lose colour saturation over time (esp Blue) which is why they are oversaturated to begin with (esp Blue) in order to preserve the saturation longer. The result is that the colour reproduction is not accurate and it also comes with a blueish tinge. Additionally these screens do not have very good whites. The whites look dim even at full brightness. The whites also consume more battery power to reproduce, although the black consume less and look more accurate than on LCDs.

For me, AMOLED is a no-go, so I ended up getting the One X instead.

      • Iphone5 with a 4" screen…. samsung were there 2 years ago with the Galaxy S.

Appls's 2-year iphone revision cycle has crippled its chances.

By the way to talk about this deal, I've read feedbacks in OzBargain and Whirlpool about the phones arriving with the seals broken with the excuse of putting the Australian adapters inside.

I would suggest going for a more reputable online seller for phones, not just because the website used to be famous for buying cameras.

    • +4

Personally, I would feel better buying from a more reputable seller as well; but for people where price is No. 1, this looks like a good deal.

      • -1

Price is irrelevant if you don't get what you're paying for.

  • +1

As per their website they're a Hong Kong based online store servicing Australia. 12 months warranty offered on phones.

  • +2

So close. Just another $76. You can do it!

    • Well if include shipping it's not just another $76, still would take a while to reach the point.

  • This is the new lowest price. eglobal also have the lowest price on HTC One X at $520 shipped though that phone seems to retain its value better than the S3. Maybe they will be the same price in a few months.

    • The HTC One X has been out much longer than the S3,and once high end android phones are around the $500+ mark, they start to drop slowly in value.

      • +1

I don't think it released as expensive as S3 32GB (maybe not even as expensive as 16GB), so S3 had a greater height to fall from.

An Apple phone would never price drop like this, so I can see why they don't compete for this kind of market.

  • -4

I have a S2 and I know why the price of the S3 is dropping so fast…

    Come on iPhone 5!!

Samsung are doing exactly what they did last year when I decided to go for the S2 instead of upgrading my iPhone. They are trying to get as many people to forgo their upgrade of their iPhone in leiu of a cheaper alternative. Sure I've saved $23 a month since changing to the samsung but it's just not worth going from a product that you love to use to something that annoys you and you can't wait to get rid of.

    • +2

Lol, what do you hate about the S2?

      • A few things, my daily is when I plug it to charge it the screen comes on and doesn't turn off by itself, same goes when the power to it turns off. so if you are charging and you get a blackout it will run itself flat. Good stuff. Typing is frustrating at times, compared to iphone where it is intuitive.

        • Are you using any non-stock kernel? Or a different micro-USB charger?

With Android you can try many other alternative keyboards like SwiftKey, Swype, Swype Beta, Thumb Keyboard, Smart Keyboard etc which are so much better than iPhone's keyboard.

        • A smartphone is only as good as you make it.. and this holds true even more so for Androids (being more customisable).

The keyboard example you gave is the perfect example. As nano below me mentions, there are many many keyboards out there. Personally I dislike the iPhone keyboard. You could say I'm not used to it but it just doesn't make sense for me. But guess what? If I want to use an iPhone there's no alternative. That's what really sucks.

Don't really understand what you said about the power running flat and the blackout though.

    • +10

Simply put, iPhone is overpriced. For people who rather pay more for less, I guess iPhone is the right phone for them. (Bit like a Bose…)

      • +3

Bit like a Bose?… Totally like a Bose. I have heard amazing sound from some other brands at half the price.

    • So, what is your point? Desperate for a new iPhone but got tricked into Samsung?

      • No, I weighed my options (4s was almost out and Samsung were discounting heavily) and decided to go with android and the samsung. I regret it.

  • +5

Shipping comes to $29 (Sydney) and the checkout total for me is $605 and not $615

    • +2

Looks like it must've been dropped from $39 to $29 cause I'm quite sure I saw it as $39 shipping before

    • Have the same experience

  • +2

The S3 is dropping rapidly in price…. so why is the S2 stubbornly refusing to budge?

I missed the Harvey Norman one-day $394 deal and it hasn't come anywhere near that since…

    • Oz stock is still around 700-750 so I would not say it is dropping rapidly…

    • Because as it approaches cost, the stores can't cut the price and still profit.

  • +1

Kogan's price is 609+19 now , and it has 12 Month Australian warranty!

    • ShoppingSquare: $638 Shipped, with 12 Month Australian Warranty.

  • $613 at DWI too - looks like there are a few options around this price point :)

    • DWI charges 2% surcharge for Credit Card or 3% for Paypal. That's $625 or $631.

Unless you pay by bank deposit, which is the least safe way to pay and affords you no buyer protection.

  • We all know top range Android prices drop like flies. Makes me regret signing a 24month contract for this. I should have bought it outright while on prepaid! Cheaper option

    • Agreed. Over the long run it's definitely cheaper to buy outright after a few months. When the value of a phone drops, the per month contract does not change.

The only phones I would ever buy on contract are iPhones. And I'm not really into those unless they make a 720p screen that's 4" or less.

  • I've never dealt with Eglobal, so I'm not sure if they're dodgy or not.

I can assure you, they're as dodgy as the day is long. I got stung by them after they were recommended here on a phone I was looking for at Christmas time.

If you choose to ignore the (well deserved) bad reviews plastered all over the web, and still deal with these clowns, please be sure to pay with Paypal.

Just ordered a blue one from them. Hopefully everything go smoothly.
