A lot of money for a heat exchange coffee machine

    • +1

Possibly due to the Rotary motor and pid… Plus a grinder. This is cheaper than my ECM mech profi and silenzio combined

    • Need another $500 off this to be worth it imho.

  • What are the servicing costs and schedule for this level of machine?

    • +1

Depending on the use of the machine, servicing cost can be couple of hundreds of dollar and the schedule can be from 3-24 months

      • Thanks.

    • Can I have one?

      • Can I have some money?

  • I really like the look of the phone app you can use with the Cube R to monitor/adjust different settings. It's definitely a trend taking hold in the coffee world ever since the Decent machine was launched. Note the in-built water tank is quite small and seems a bit of an after thought. I would suggest the water line be plumbed in to avoid constant fill ups and emptying of the shallow water drip tray. This is explained by Di Pacci who gave a good review with pros/cons of the Cube R which was quite refreshing as most retail/reseller reviews would paper over any flaws/cons the machine had.

For me the Cube R has one foot in the more expensive premium double boiler category and one in the cheaper HX machine category. Trouble is it's expensive for an HX machine when you can buy a very good DB machine for the same money. Maybe if SanRemo imported the Cube V with a PID, and a bigger water tank for under $3k it would be a winner. Maybe in version 2?

    • @Solrak because this is a package with the grinder, is it good value?

My alternative is to buy a ECM mechanika slim or profitec pro 400 or 600 but if you pair it with a $1000+ grinder the price starts to get close.

Depends on where you are coming from in terms of espresso hardware? If you are just starting to venture down the home espresso rabbit hole? Then the Breville appliances represent extremely good value and regularly go on sale. There are also some good prosumer single boiler machines from Gaggia and Rancilio to consider and they arguable last longer than most of the Breville range. I've owned a Breville DB and Rancilio Silvia in the past and been happy with both.

Personally when I needed to upgrade my Breville SGP I ended up buying a Eureka Specialita grinder awhile back from Espresso Coffee Shop https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/685305 No GST or import duty if under $1000 and arrives from Europe in 4 days. This paired with my Lelit Mara X from the BF sales and I have been very happy with the results and cost me half the $4.5k of this package. Obviously Dipacci are based in Australia so I guess you have peace of mind with a physical stores to go back to for any future warranty claims or servicing. I like the Profitec Pro 400, I nearly bought one. The Profitec Pro 600 is a dual boiler machine and not an HX like the Cube R and Pro 400. Would I personally buy a Cube R? No as I can't plumb in the water line & drip tray easily at home. I still think it's to expensive for a HX machine.

        • Thanks @Solrak I'm upgrading from a Breville Barista Pro which has just died.

I may take your advice and get an ECM mechanika slim, Lelit or Profitec and spend more on the grinder. Leftover change can save it for a rainy day.

          • @mcau: I would dismiss the ECM Mechanika Slim (unless one is on sale or deeply discounted) It doesn't have a PID from memory? If you're buying a HX machine in 2022/23 then some form of PID is really the go. Coming from a Breville Barista Pro I don't think you will want to be pulling cooling shots etc. Also don't forget E61 Group machines usually take 20-30 minutes to heat up from cold. Not a problem for me as I have a smart switch, but most of the Breville appliances are ready to use after 2-10 minutes. Just something to be aware of.

FYI from the few independent reviews I've seen the Fiorenzato Grinder bundled with this Sanremo deal seems to perform pretty decently and looks to be well built.
