I think this is the cheapest price for this camera that's been posted on OzB so far, this is still an excellent camera for pro video production. I've had one since April this year.

Some notes: the performance/image quality of this camera is the same as the FX3, but the latter is a solid $1k - 1.5k more expensive. Although you do get some more features with the FX3, such as mounting points, active cooling, top handle included, and more focused firmware updates (at least from what Sony's been doing lately). The FX3 does not have an EVF however.

If you don't need 4K 120fps and FHD 240fps, then the a7IV is also a solid option. Up to certain ISOs, its low light performance is actually a bit cleaner. It has some features like focus breathing compensation that the a7SIII doesn't have atm.

      Black doesn't reflect as much when shooting reflective subjects/objects.

      Some pros even take it a step further by painting in (in black) the brand on the viewfinder hump.

    Great price for a fantastic camera, even for stills, 12mp can often be ample resolution, the colour, the sensitivity etc. are stunning.

        The base model (A7) in any iteration has always been a compromise, possibly the best compromise, but still so, i.e. it's not as good at stills as the R series or A9 or A1, it's also not as good at video as the 7S or A9 (only becuase of AF) or the A1.

        The 7S is a stills camera body, but it's a properly good video camera and stills are a clear second fiddle to video (but it is a decent stills camera).

    Just make sure they actually have stock before committing.

    I've just dealt with them over a nonexistent lens purchased during BF.

      Yeah this is true, usual caveat with DigiDirect. Waited a month for my a7S III to arrive. I did get a $50 voucher from them for the wait though.

    What were the prices before the pandemic?

      Either you misunderstood them or that person has no idea what they are talking about. In the last few months plenty of Sony camera bodies were as cheap or cheaper than they ever have been.

      If they got evidence of the $500 A7 III, $1000 A7R IV or $2500 A1 sales would be keen to see it.
