Renamer (MAC OSX App). Was $14.99 - Now $1.99

70

I don't have this exact software but have something similar and has been a lifeline when having to rename multiple files at once. For the amount of time this would save, $1.99 is a small price to pay.

If you've ever tried to rename a large number of files by hand and thought 'there must be an easier way', then Renamer is for you.

With Renamer you can batch rename thousands of files in just a few seconds. Rename tasks include replacing text in filenames, numbering files, changing file extensions and converting between cases.

And for power users Renamer has some handy time savers in store: save rename tasks for later use, build complex rename tasks with chains and rename directly from Finder via the system menu.

Features in a nutshell:

  • Search and replace for text in filenames
  • Insert, overwrite and remove characters from filenames
  • Number files
  • Insert the Exif date and time when a digital photo was taken into filenames
  • Insert the file creation and last modified dates into filenames
  • Convert between upper-, lower- and mixed case
  • Group rename task into chains
  • Rename directly from Finder with the system menu plugin
  • Randomly rename files
    What's new

Some people really should invest a little time learning a shell and regular expressions. It makes things like this so much easier.

    • any sites to share? Do you mean using Automator scripts?

I mean the command line. This is the sort of thing it excels at. The idea of a "power user" fumbling with a 3rd party gui tool to bulk-rename files is silly.

      • A great book is Unix Power Tools by ORielly.

There is a command line package called rename, its not the standard Unix package, but should be installable by the ports. It is free and does the same task as this Renamer app, this app may just be a graphical copy/clone of rename with a high price tag. But its expected that it will probably sell reasonably well on the app store.
