  • Went to all three Coles stores in the Melbourne CBD and none of them had the right cards for converting fo JB use :(

    • +1

You will have better luck in the suburbs. Most $100 denominations have been sold out, but you should be able to find $50s.

  • +22

Shout out to @WookieMonster. You're doing a fantastic job answering all the questions. I have no idea how you have the patience to answer the same question multiple times not just on this thread but other gift card threads too. Many ozbargainers including myself have definitely learned a lot from the reliable information and knowledge that you have consistently provided.

    • +5

I agree. He could have just referred them to the FAQ which incidentally he also wrote.

      • +4

The problem with the FAQ is that it is not written very well for Ultimate gift cards, especially the most common question in this deal (as far as I remember):

Retailer A is not printed on the gift card packaging for the Ultimate gift card. Can you use it at Retailer A?

I will rewrite the FAQ sometime this weekend so that I will simply copy/paste a link to the relevant FAQ in the future.

  • +9

Thanks so much @WookieMonster for all your hard work explaining the details and process of these gift cards. Managed to score x34 $100 gift cards across two Coles (plenty of stock still up here in Cairns) and took them to JB HiFi for the LG 55" C2 OLED and the LG S90QY Soundbar. Ended up being $2890 for both - gift cards gave me ~$500 off the sale price. Pretty stoked, thanks again :D

    • The record at my local jbhifi is 55 gift cards for a purchase !

    • Did you find ultimate everyone in Cairns?

      • +1

Don’t remember seeing that specific one, but I was looking for Ultimate Him/Home $100 denominations so there could have been. Plenty in Coles Smithfield/Redlynch (in the store, not on the spinners near the entrance).

  • +11

Giving another shoutout to @WookieMonster. I would’ve been over having to answer the same questions again and again but you’ve been so helpful!

    • +11

Yes he has the patience of a saint. People really need to read the whole thread and maybe previous ones on the particular deal, most of the answers have already been given. If you want a bargain invest a little time in some research.

  • +12

    Another shout out to @WookieMonster.
To this day, I am simply astounded by his depth of knowledge on all things gifts cards, and rewards points.

  • Can you redeem multiple Ultimate Active cards on Nike website ?

    • +4

You cannot redeem any Ultimate gift cards on the Nike website, as Nike only accepts Ultimate gift cards in their physical stores.

  • I have some of the 'older' Ultimate Teen cards that DO NOT display the EB Games logo.. Can they be used at EB as the newer Teen cards do display the logo?

    • +1

It will be fine if the old stock of Ultimate Teens gift cards you saw was the Visa version.

There have been multiple production runs for the Visa version of the Ultimate Teens gift cards, and only the latest production run (June/July 2022) included EB Games on the front of the gift card packaging. This is due to EB Games only starting to accept Ultimate Teens gift cards as a payment method from the end of September 2022.

What you need to keep in mind is that participating retailers change for at least one Ultimate gift card every few weeks, so the gift card packaging can quickly become out of date. For example, Kogan was added to the Ultimate gift card scheme (for Home and Everyone gift cards) in the last four days.

The Ultimate gift card terms and conditions also makes it very clear that the full and updated list of participating retailers is on the Ultimate gift card website. This was also confirmed by a Blackhawk Network rep.

You should only rely on the gift card packaging if you are looking for an Ultimate gift card that works at rebel, BCF or Supercheap Auto. Those retailers are being phased out of the Ultimate gift card scheme, so only physical Ultimate gift cards with those logos on the packaging will continue to work at those retailers.

I do not use Ultimate gift cards at EB Games, but I have used physical Ultimate Home, Ultimate Teens and Ultimate Kids gift cards at Officeworks, even when those gift cards had packaging with no Officeworks logo on the front. Officeworks only started accepting Ultimate gift cards as a payment method at the end of September 2022.

However, if you saw the EFTPOS version of the Ultimate Teens gift cards, those cannot be redeemed at EB Games. The participating retailers for the EFTPOS version is:

      Gift Card Participating Retailers (EFTPOS)
Teens Boost Juice, City Beach, Grill’d, JB Hi-Fi, Kingpin, Rebel Sport, Ripcurl, Timezone, Zone Bowling

You could wrangle with Blackhawk Network to have an EFTPOS version replaced with the Visa version, but that seems like a fair bit of hassle to me.

If you don’t know how to tell the difference between the EFTPOS and Visa versions, have a look at this comment.

      • +2

Thank you so much for your response. That helps. Really appreciate it :)

I seldom comment but definitely want to say thanks to @WookieMonster for being so resourceful and selfless to share your helpful knowledge!

Can we nominate you to be the member of the year please!

  • +16

    Thank you to @cynical17, @br0yn, @cloudspires (a Spyro reference, I’m assuming?), @Yola, @dreamykitten, @DoctorCalculon and @Student for your kind words!

    • +3

Wookie is a legend , wish I could nominate him for the Australian of the year ..ha ha thank you for all your help champ 😀

      • Every retailer would like to do the opposite lol

  • Asking if anyone tried this, example i use 1x$50 GC for JB online for item thats $45, and left with $3 balance. Can i then reuse the balance on next JB online transaction again? and can i combine the $3 with another $100 Ultimate card? Thanks!

    • +1

Nah you can’t pay with 2 ultimate gift cards
Because it’s like trying to pay with 2 credit cards

      • +2

You could try to convert your $100 ultimate card to JB gift card first

        • Thanks, success!

  • Does anyone know if JB HI FI will price match the Macbooks and iPads listed on the AOC Apple Education Store?

  • So we have no idea how many JB GC we can redeem online? I bought ~20 of $50 Ultimate GC ones and already converted those to $50 JB GC. The thing is I want to buy Apple phone, so I may have to use ~40 GC. Not sure it is possible now :|

    • +1

You try consolidate your multiple JB GCs into one by buying a JB GC online and paying with all your JB GCs.

    • How did you convert them into JB Hifi GCs online?

I couldn't find any option to exchange them.

      • Would like to know this too.

        • +4

          Hey Ash-Say and AussieDaddy.
This question was answered many times by WookieMonster, please check this link How to convert Ultimate GC to JB GC by WookieMonster
I basically use 1st method as I can convert 5 or 6 JB GC per day in this way even my orders got cancelled sometimes.
Please noted that 2 months ago I tried to buy a phone and my order was cancelled. As I don't want it happens in future, I email JB Verification team and answered them few questions and after all they said "We are unable to reinstate a cancelled order however our system providers have put in place a fix that will allow a new order to be processed successfully."
Not sure if that's why can I manage to get more than 2 JB GC per day.

      • +2

What I have been doing is using a mix of JB GCs and Ultimate GC x1 to buy JB GC online e.g. I used $200 JB GC + $100 Ultimate Home GC to purchase a $300 JB GC. As mentioned above, you rinse and repeat to eventually get a higher value JB GC but probably not more than twice a day to avoid the fraud detection engine kicking in. And also to ensure you dont have VPN turned on which can also trigger the fraud detection. So if you have a lot of GC to consolidate, take your time to do it over multiple days. I have not yet tried just using mulitiple JB GCs without combing with Ultimate GCs to pay but I will try that next.

        • +1

Thank you viirgon for your sharing.
I tried your method today but both my orders were cancelled.
In 1st order, I tried to use 9 of $50 JB GCs and 1 Ultimate $50 to get $500 JB GC.
In 2nd order, I tried 5 of $50 JB GCs and 1 Ultimate $50 to get $300 JB GC.
I will try tomorrow and update the result to you guys.

          • +1

@Phong7: Also try using different JB accounts with different emails.

            • @viirgon: Guys, just want to update that today I failed to convert multiple $50 JB GC and Ultimate GC to lager JB GC value.
Tried all $100, $250, $500. Tried with different emails, different browsers, laptop and phone, all fail :|
Better keep Ultimate GC and buy goods in store when they're not busy.

  • Have just been Googling how to exchange these gift cards for JB Hi-Fi gift cards and came across this review. Are they really this bad?

    • +1

nah, they just didn't have @WookieMonster in their corner to show em how it's done 😉

  • Just FYI that if you convert these into e-gift cards for Sephora they won't be accepted as Sephora is no longer accepting e-gift cards as of Dec 2022. Wife learned the hard way.

  • Is it possible to pay through ultimate cards on Menulog app? I.e. Use the same card in more than one transaction?

    • How else do you think Menulog works with these given its an online only business?

But yes I have done it. Skip the Ultimate Eats card though and go for another that works with Menulog like Ultimate Thanks or Ultimate Everyone, its hard to get the Eats card down to zero. Easier when it works in retail stores and not just food stores, since they are much more accommodating to split payments.

  • -2

I know it’s been asked a million times but with different cards and companies these cards can I use them online to purchase.
I want to price match with jb direct from my store and pay when they email the link.
I was hoping i could take advantage of this deal and of 15% off and get an even better price.

I’m away from home so can’t get to a store and obviously I would price match and would need to be paid same day.

  • +2

Am i the only few ones here believe this isn't really an ultimate deal as many thought?

    • +1

I agree. I am thinking it's taking too much effort for the savings. It would have been a different story if there's a variable gift card that allows you to get a $500 GC. I will only get Ultimate GCs next time as gifts for others.

    • +1

I saved $120 on a PS5 from JB Hi-Fi and $90 including the price beat on a Series 7 GPS + Cellular Apple Watch from Officeworks. It wasn’t any extra effort at all to save that much on items I was looking to buy at their regular retail prices.

  • -3

Can we use these Ultimate GC to purchase Coles Group & Myer gift card from OfficeWorks?

    • There is an answer from WookieMonster on the 1st page of this thread. But I would like to know if anyone else has done it recently.

  • +1

Just a note to everyone - Apple wallet appears to only let you add five gift cards at once, and it will block subsequent gift cards saying “your issuer does not yet offer support for this card”.

However, if you add it on another person’s iPhone it will work again with max five gift cards.

I do not yet know if there’s a time limit before you can add more gift cards, but just deleting old gift cards off your Apple wallet does not let you add more. Hopefully it’s just a 12 hour or 24 hour limit thing for fraud detection.

    • Update:

I successfully added 5 more ultimate gift cards the next day and used them, and then they wouldn't let me add anymore.

I sucessfully added 1 more GC on the third day before the error message popped up.

So idk how the gift card limit for apple wallet works but in the end I couldn't be bothered and just went to swipe cards instore.

  • Guys, I've got Him GCs and I'm trying to exchange them fr JB Hi-Fi GCs online, but keep getting

"Gift card number must be 18 digits"

The card I am trying to use only has 16 digits (the numbers that follow Card:?). And underneath that are the PCN digits, and those are 19 numbers. What am I doing wrong? Was I supposed to use the Gift card section or the Credit or debit card section? If the latter then it asks for the name on the card and expiry date, and these gift cards don't have that info, so I am stuck. Tia

    • +1

You are doing it wrong. The gift card field (16 digits) is for entering JB GCs only. You enter Ultimate GC details in the credit card section, but it could get cancelled (see above). the easiest way is just use all your Ultimate GCs in store.

      • That makes sense. Thanks

    • +2

Ok, firstly you need to make sure what type of Ultimate GC you got. The answered again from Wookie Gift card number: the EFTPOS version starts with 502125, whereas the Visa version starts with 457284.
So likely the cards you got are the VISA cards.
In the Payment section, don't put Ultimate GC detail in GC section as this Ultimate GC is VISA card.
So you need to put Ultimate GC detail under Credit or debit card section
Name on card should be your name.
      Expiration date is 12/29
      PCN isn't important, ignore it.

  • -6

can use these Ultimate GC to purchase Coles Group & Myer gift card from @ Kmart, Target, Myer and Coles Express, etc.?

    • There is an answer from WookieMonster on the 1st page of this thread, regarding doing this at OW. But I would like to know if anyone else has done it recently.

  • @WookieMonster I have 3 x $100 Ultimate Her cards, purchased to use at Lululemon.
Lululemon isn't one of the retailers listed for being able to exchange the card.
I spoke with Lululemon, who said I could use the Ultimate cards to purchase Lululemon gift cards on their website then use those gift cards as payment.
However when I have done this (3 x $100 transactions), the orders appeared to go through but I got 3 emails from Lululemon an hour later saying "Settled charges will be refunded to the original form of payment. Pending authorizations do not represent capture of funds and will expire according to the policies of the financial institution."

I've checked my transaction history for the Ultimate cards and it has the Lululemon transactions as pending.

How long will it take for the money to reappear on the Ultimate gift cards given the purchases haven't been successfully for Lululemon?

And do you know any other way to use these at Lululemon apart from going in store?
    Thanks!

    • +3

It sounds like Lululemon's fraud detection system has stepped in to stop the transaction. You'll have to keep in mind that your Ultimate gift cards are prepaid Visa gift cards (limited to a small number of participating retailers), so they are missing security features some other Visa cards support (e.g. 3-D Secure, which allows Lululemon's financial institution handling online payments to ask your card issuer to verify that the verified cardholder is the one who is initiating the transaction).

Have you tried purchasing a smaller denomination (e.g. $50)?

Have you also tried only ordering one gift card and waiting for that order to be processed? Back-to-back transactions with different Visa cards in a short period of time could cause all those transactions to be marked as fraudulent.

      • Thanks for the in-depth review.
Haven't tried smaller denominations or one at a time.
Once the money reappears on my cards, I'll try those (or just cut out some trouble and go straight into store).

Any idea on timeframe for the card transactions to go from pending back to having the balance back on the VISA gift card? 😊

        • +2

In my experience with Visa transactions being refunded back onto a prepaid Visa gift card, it should take at most five business days.

(Sorry, I forgot you asked that question!)

          • +2

@WookieMonster: No need to apologise, appreciate your reply and all the hard work you do for the OzB community 🙏 🙏

      • +1

Just coming back to you on this one after having the very helpful Lululemon staff member (or 'educator' as they call them) confirm with her eCommerce team.
Unfortunately the Ultimate Gift Cards can't be used to purchase Lululemon gift cards and it appears the only way to redeem them is in-store.

In related news, the funds were back on my Ultimate cards yesterday morning so that was quick!

  • What is the limit on using these in store at Office Works? (if there is a limit). I can't seem to find it online. For anyone interested, it appears a number of iPhone 14 are now back in stock at Costco so great time to 5% price beat at OW ;) plus 15% off GC is close to something like $1,088 for a 128gb.

    • I don't think there is a limit. The highest number of Ultimate gift cards I have used in Officeworks instore transaction is 3.

However, whether staff will let you do split payments is another question. In my experience, staff are happy to do split payments (or at least somewhat willing to try), but that is not everyone's experience…

    • Do Officeworks even price match Costco given it’s membership only pricing/availability?

      • Depends on who you get. Some will say no. Others may price match if you are a member

  • -8

can use these Ultimate GC to purchase Coles Group & Myer gift card from @ Kmart, Target, Myer and Coles Express, etc.?

    • +3

There is no ultimate gift card for any of those stores. If there was and it worked I wouldn't be reporting it here unless you wanted it shutdown.

      • -4

But there are a few for Officeworks and they sell the Coles Group & Myer gift cards. So would it work there?
I know that there is an answer from WookieMonster on the 1st page of this thread, regarding doing this at OW. But I would like to know if anyone else has done it recently.

        • -3

But I would like to know if anyone else has done it recently.

I would like to know this as well as I notice some of them now carry the variable load (up to $500) Apple GCs.

  • Does this deal include all ultimate card types in the table of OP or just the 5 shown in Coles catalogue? In other words is the Ultimate Everyone on 15% off?

    • +1

yes every card is part of the promo, except the variable load version of any card including Everyone

    • Just do in store

  • Does anyone know if there is a limit for how many gift cards can be used in store at Amart?

    • +1

I havent purchased anything at amart with giftcards but I've asked them and they said they dont have a limit. Best to call your local store and ask.

      • Thanks. I did call, and they said it wouldn't be an issue after initially saying they weren't sure. Just don't want it to be a scenario where they say it's okay, but then the system won't let them process it.

    • Love to know too, can you try out?

      • Don't you have any shops near you?

  • +4

Bought 16 *100 Home Cards and successfully used at Jbhifi. The discount is on all Ultimate Card (Tested) except variable amounts. Saved an extra $250 on my Laptop after price matching with Officeworks

    • I did 30 cards, was fine just the receipt was so long

      • The e-receipt makes it easier to save them.

        • -4

why dont you even pricebeat with officeworks instead of buy it at jb hifi, you can get extra 5% disc

          • @ivyholmes: How is 5% cheaper at OW better than 15% using these GCs?

            • @NoApostrophePlurals: You dont get what i mean, i mean if somewhere else than OW is cheaper, you can ask OW for price beat with them. then pay with ultimate card, you got 5% disc from pricebeat plus 15% discount from Ultimate card, total 20% discount.

  • +1

Guys, just want to share that after few times, I been able to combine 9 $50 JB GC and 1 $50 Ultimate GC to $500 JB GC.

    • +2

Pointless if you'll use it by yourself later. No card limit online.

      • +1

I gonna use it later but it seems like no one can confirm how many JB GCs we can redeem online, someone said ~22 GCs but I have to use around 38-40 JB GCs to get a new phone. So I just want to make sure I can consolidate those JB GCs before I spend more money to get more $50 Ultimate GC.

      • But there is a card limit online.

  • Looks like the glitch has been fixed - Home cards are not scanning with discount.

    • $100 home?

      • Yes - My friend (in VIC - Point cook) just tried to buy them and they are no longer discounted.

        • +1

Did your friend scan an Ultimate Home gift card or TCN Home gift card?

          • @WookieMonster: Ultimate Home gift card

            • +2

@iLoveDiscounts2020: Well I'm not sure what you mean by "the glitch has been fixed", because there is nothing in the deal terms and conditions where the $50 and $100 Ultimate Home gift cards are specifically excluded.
