    • The following was taken from https://www.ultimategiftcards.com.au/apple-pay/

To add your Ultimate eGift Card to Apple, Google or Samsung Pay wallets, use the ‘add card manually’ feature on your device’s digital wallet, enter the Card Number, Expiry Date and CVV of your card, and then the name, address and telephone number used for your card’s registration. We are actively working on a solution for the ‘Add to wallet’ feature and hope to have it fixed soon. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Before I added the cards to Apple Wallet, I had to head over to https://myprepaidcentre.com.au and entered the card number to obtain the card expiry dates which all ended up being 12/29.

      Hope that helps.

      • Hmm it fails adding for me, did you end up registering your card? Maybe the card needs to be registered first so the cardholder name matches what they have on the databse

Managed to find $800 worth today in Perth CBD. The checkout dude asked if I got them from Coles as he was certain they had run out. Of course I found them by opening the display and there was tonnes in a box.
Unsure if staff hoarding, Coles hiding or Coles too lazy to stock shelves… Got the outcome I needed for $800 Good Guys for my new coffee machine, super happy

    • Did they let you do two separate transactions - $500 ($425) followed by $300 ($255)?

      • @DoctorCalculon they are super strict here in NSW - I have been to about 10 coles and NONE will let you do more than 5. If you need more, go to a different store, or come back the next day, or go to one far checkout, get a coffee then go to another, but don't ever ask if they will or you will draw attention to yourself :D

        • They are just as strict over here in VIC.

The POS system won't allow you to add more than 5 cards regardless of which checkout you are at.

          come back the next day

As long you don't run into the same staff member because they will tell you 5 cards per customer.
Better to go to a different store altogether but I couldn't be stuffed playing these games.

      • That's exactly what I did, they didn't know, I bought the $500 at checkout and walked out, then walked right back in to grab second $300 and went to self serve checkout for round 2, different staff member helped approve.

Based on first staff response I'm glad I didn't try in one go, I reckon he would have put the $300 aside and killed it

        • +1

i did it like that too.. I went in with my hubby, grab thanks $50x 5 and he also got $50×5 to self service check out then come back again in, I grabbed $50x4 and hubby grabbed $50x2.. total $800 for jbhifi.. easy peasy, I came around 9pm it was busy and the staff was even more friendly told me whether did i want her to write down the expired dates, I said dont worry about it.

          • +4

@ivyholmes: My wife won't engage in my ozbargain and savings shenanigans, you're in the dream marriage 😂

            • +2

@cook99: hubby supports any activities to save money coz meaning his eating out/dinning out budget will also be increased, his gaming will be bought as well such as steam… and many more lol because we are a teamwork!

    • hilarious, are you saying there's a stash under the shelves if you just pull at it and there's a drawer? I'll have to investigate tomorrow LoLzzz

      • The entire display opens like a big swinging door. This one the opening was on the left part of the left display, whole thing is hollow

        • and all this time I've been travelling around buying 5 from each store I can get stock…Saved $500 all up though from my bounty hunting.

          • @dammit: How many cards altogether?

            • @DoctorCalculon: Just under 50…due to all the $50 ones. Every staff I ask always say no more stock, only whats on the shelf is what's there. Shame, because would've been handy to get $100 ones… I don't understand the 5 limit to be honest; I guess it stops most people from bothering buying more…

    • -4

Since when are customers allowed access to the display storage? You aren't a staff member so despite whether there are ones inside or not you have no right to just go grab some for yourself. Hope you don't make this a habbit in the future. Makes it no different to people taking giftcards home and bringing them back.

If you want some, just ask the staff rather than go through store stock yourself which you have no right to do so.

      • +2

On 2 previous occasions when I've tried your way I received the canned response "whatever we have is on display", with staff unwilling to even open display to look. Another time staff member opened and did the most token fake look before sending me away another time.

I also did look for staff members to help yesterday and none were around, probably on account for how busy the store was. I take your comment and it's was a spur of the moment decision to open and have a quick look because I'd seen in other comments someone else had done the same. It's not like I'm going back into the warehouse or some restricted area either.

        • -3

Despite what you've said and what your understanding is here, you still pretty much have no right to go grab some yourself.

Go ask a manager if you have to. If everyone gets encouraged to do what you did, people will start rummaging through the display cabinets and empty them out on their own terms. What is available for purchase in the store is what you see in front of you. Just because you have access to extra stock doesn't make it right for you to grab some without permission. If you seek permission and they hand it to you then that's a different story.

Unfortunately, some people lack morals clearly so they have to go neg me. Go figure 😂

          • +2

@thousandsuns: How about the moral and illegal activity of Bait advertising if the promotion is clearly advertised, and stock is withheld by the supplier.

In this circumstance, I was on my lunch break, in a busy store, no staff in sight despite trying, I wasn't in the position to hunt down a manager. I purchased something which is advertised, in stock and available to purchase but the staff had failed their basic job of getting it on the shelf.

Not going to further engage in a pointless internet argument with a random though, all the best mate.

            • +2

@cook99: I went to at least 10 coles on Monday. Every one who didn't have stock I asked, every time they answer whatever is there, I always ask is there any out the back or under the counter, could they look etc, "No" - only what you see is there. So, I bought bucketloads of $50 ones, which then causes a hassle for the store you redeem it in, when they could've easily given me $100 ones if they actually are there just sitting in a drawer going dusty or staff saving them for themselves - ha. I haven't resorted to opening a cabinet to find stock myself but I can see both sides to this!!

            • -2

@cook99: Where is it bait advertising? They have stock go ask them politely and then get some. How is what you're doing not any different to what a thief does? Just because you pay for it, it doesn't mean that you're entitled to something that regular customers don't have access to.

Yeah mate, when you know you've done something wrong and dumb and try to justify it, you clearly know you've lost the argument.

You take the situation into your own hands and try to justify it just because it was "busy".

Fellow bargainers please do not condone yourself from snatching gift cards from the cabinet. Coles should lock these cabinets too. This will encourage more theft now.

        • I don’t agree with opening the cabinet but I can understand you doing it given some of the staff attitudes when asked about gift cards

          • -1

@t25: Nobody is entitled to anything. It is up to the staff and store to enforce what they wish to sell. My point is nobody should feel entitled to go grab gift cards from a cabinet without prior permission from the store staff.

  • +1

I have similar experience as @cook99 in WA too. Found stashes of $100 Ultimate Home cards (and other GCs) inside the cabinet and some are still in the boxes and plastic packaging.

Staff initially told me there are no stocks left but when I came back next day and opened the cabinet, there they are. Some of the staff who I asked permission from aren't even aware of it.

Thanks for sharing this deal. I managed to collect a total of $5000 Ultimate Home GCs. Will save heaps for this month's purchases with TGG & JB HIFI

    • How can you find so many Ultimate Home cards?

    • -1

@Ozpe1903 What's your secret to getting so many?! Impressive bounty!!

      • +1

3 sales including the one in Aldi.

        124 cards collected by 3 people .

        • So, not all of them are at 15% discount, right?

  • having a headache with one of the cards I got… on receipt from Coles it states APPROVED/ACTIVATED but get an error when attempting to use. Contacted Blackhawk and they gave me some canned response and closed the support ticket. Going to try with Coles customer support…

    • +1

Personal experience is that Coles customer support will respond more quickly, however in the end they'll directly your back to Blackhawk and not actually do anything themselves. Then you'll need to call Blackhawk multiple times, likely get instantly dismissed/ticket closed on first attempt, but in theory if you ask for supervisor/manager you might get somewhere (personally after 3 phone calls they've not offered any concrete help yet).

      • cheers wolfy… yeah, i understand time of year etc… hopefully they wont go t!ts up while i am trying to resolve the issue.

        • The cards are valid for 3 years from date of issue (as per receipt). So, you can always go back to Coles as long as you hold onto your paper receipt.

What kind of Ultimate card is it? Have you tried adding it to a digital wallet?

          • @DoctorCalculon: @DoctorCalculon no you can't, Coles take no ownership for the issue.

Less than an hour after I purchased the 'old' type of card that was refused at JB HiFi, I spoke to the Coles store's Customer Service Manager, the cards cannot be returned or exchanged at Coles, nor can they actually be used to purchase anything from Coles.
All Coles does is say take the issue up with the card issuer (Blackhawk).
Coles' email support team also do exactly the same, pass-the-back to the card issuer and say there is nothing they can do (other than "informed the Gift card Senior Category Manager informing him of the issues raised by the customer.")

            • @Wolfy: That sucks, and I can see that it is easier for Coles to pass the buck onto BHN. From a consumer law point of view, they still need to provide a resolution if BHN doesn't fix the issue, no?

After having to deal with BHN's Customer Service team, I can say the word "atrocious" doesn't even capture their level of incompetency and lack of care.
This was in relation to not being able to add Home GCs to wallet.

              • @DoctorCalculon: Coles (online support) have not been interested in any suggestions other than to blame BHN.

"atrocious" is a good word for BHN's support, however "ludicrous" might be better, since it's actually so bad it's borderline-funny.

            • @Wolfy: I think your situation is very different. You have basically purchased the wrong product at Coles and Coles don't offer change-of-mind returns on gift cards. If you believe you purchased the wrong card due to BH's confusing marketing, then you should take it up with BH.

However @heathwithnoteeth has purchased cards that don't actually work, which means not fit for purpose. By ACL Coles should refund/exchange such products regardless of their return policies.

              • @truetypezk: Yes, but I'm pretty sure that @heathwithnoteeth will have exactly the same issues when trying to deal with either/both BCN and Coles.

              • +1

@truetypezk: Gift cards are considered financial products and thus do not fall under ACL. They are regulated by ASIC.

                • @JIMB0: So, if you happen to have a card that is not working (i.e. you can't actually spend the money), and neither Coles nor BHN help you with the issue, do you raise a complaint with AFCA (I assume), and pray that this toothless tiger comes to your rescue?

            • @Wolfy: An update to my above comment (which I cannot edit now):

After multiple emails to/from Coles Customer Care, they suggested a solution for my specific situation, most likely for reasons not directly related to Ultimate Gift Cards/BHN. I returned to the store, showed the email to the same Customer Service Manager who said that was all that was required.

“ get an error when attempting to use” is admittedly a rather vague statement, because you can get an error using these gift cards for a lot of reasons and in a lot of situations. Are you able to shed more light on how you are trying to use your Ultimate gift card? Some questions as prompts:

      • Which Ultimate gift card are you having issues with? (E.g. Home? Everyone? Thanks?)

      • What denomination did you purchase?

      • Where you are trying to spend it? Is it instore, online or via an app?

      • How much are the items you are trying to spend?

      • Where are you entering the card's details on the online checkout (assuming you are trying to make purchases online)?

      • +1

Also, add this question to your interrogation list. ;-P
        • If not at Officeworks, did you select the CREDIT option when prompted with { SAV, CHQ, CREDIT } in-store before entering PIN?

      • Sorry… I was told "error from bank side" at JB HIFI checkout instore.
        - Home
        - 12 $50 vouchers at 3 different Coles stores
        - Instore at JB HIFI checkout
        - $690
        - was swiping, then entering pin on eft terminal.

I am going back to Coles to get a reprint of the receipt as it has a missing stripe vertically. Hopefully they can resolve it in store.

        • I had 11 other successful transactions with the gift cards during the purchase. 1 failed. All Coles receipts say approved

        • Make sure you go within 1 week. I think they may not keep them any longer.

          • @Yola: ok. if i have no luck with Coles customer service (who I may add have been great so far, have sent photo of back/front of card and receipt.) I will make sure I get another print out asap.

      • found the eft declined receipt.

        DECLINED 01
        CARD ERROR REFER
        STAN 069783
        RRN 204645720-19

if that helps pin down the error.

        • Try to put the error card number in the digital wallet. see how it goes

        • What happens when you go to the MyPrepaidCentre website and attempt to check the balance of that gift card?

          • @WookieMonster: We were unable to process your information. Please try again.

            • @heathwithnoteeth: Hmmm that sounds like the gift card was not activated correctly.

Just because the system Coles’ checkout contacted for the purchase said it was Approved does not mean it was then activated. Approval and activation is two separate steps, and things can go through between these two steps. It’s rare, but it can happen.

              • @WookieMonster: Would you know which number I need to look at on the receipt to match up with the card? I got a reprint today of dodgy receipt. cheers

                • +1

@heathwithnoteeth: Look for the section of the receipt where it says 3RD PARTY GIFT CARD. To the left of 3RD PARTY GIFT CARD is the first six numbers and the last three numbers of the gift card activation number.

                  • +1

                    @WookieMonster:

last three numbers of the gift card activation number

They should match the last 3 digits of the proxy card number.

                  • @WookieMonster: Upon investigation, I may have been given the wrong gift card at checkout… As none of the numbers match the card that failed. This was suggested to me by coles online agent. I did try to purchase more than the 5 limit on one transaction.

                    • @heathwithnoteeth: I think the Coles customer service agent is correct. It’s something you’ll need to sort out with the Coles customer service agent and/or the store you bought it from.

                      • +2

@WookieMonster: Turns out I may of just been given an extra card that wasn't activated… We looked at totals and can see that i did redeem the correct amount of gift cards. I feel like a doofus…

  • the everyone card doesn't work with eb games online? can't checkout, used 12/29 expiry and checked details all correct. :/

    • I recommend you put on digital wallet then purchase what you want in-store rather than online, because maybe EB games website does have 3DS security system. I tried to exchange JBhifi GC online and failed.. I would rather getting it in-store..

      • +1

I checked on the ultimate site that EB online doesn't work with the card details but able to exchange for a EB Games giftcard.

I've been trying to add my 2 Home cards all week!

If you have a physical Ultimate gift card (e.g. the ones in this deal), registration is completely optional.

If you have an Ultimate eGift Card, registration is mandatory before you can start using the Ultimate eGift Card.

  • what if the company that sells these kind of gift cards gone bust in the future?
can the cards be used in the participating stores still?

    • Nope. That's when you go to a corner and cry that you will never see your money again.

Gift cards are a race between you and the company to who spends it first. I don't hold onto any GC for any longer than necessary. Policies change, rules change, companies go bust. Too many variables that can affect the use of your GC.

      • whats the best way to safeguard this other than 'spend it ASAP'?

        • Don't buy it would be my bet.

The moment you put your funds in someone else's account, you take the risk that they might go bust, or change policies affecting your use.

  • can I ask if it's possible to spend giftcard which has been added to google wallet partially?

lets say an item in jb costs $70, and i have $100 ultimate gc loaded to google wallet.

can I pay using this card ?
if so, that means my card balance will be $30, but is that $30 balance only able to be used in jb in the future, or still can be used in any other participating stores?

  • Hi guys, i have ultimate home gift card $100. If i want to exchange this to good guys egift card, is it possible?

Also, i tried to do Exchange card, and redeem the card hoping that I can combine multiple cards amount and exchange to good guys but after I redeemed, only very selected retailers available? Like dusk, star car wash, the iconic etc.?
Now that I redeemed one of the card there, can I still use the card elsewhere?

    Thanks!

    • +1

If i want to exchange this to good guys egift card, is it possible?

      No.

If you want to "convert" your Ultimate gift card into a TGG gift card, you must go to a physical TGG store and ask to purchase a physical TGG gift card and then use the Ultimate gift card as a payment method. Staff may be nice enough to let you use multiple Ultimate gift cards to pay for 1x physical TGG gift card.

You cannot purchase a TGG digital gift card through the TGG website, as TGG sells their gift cards via a third party provider (True Rewards).

Remember, you can only use a maximum of 2x TGG gift cards in one online transaction (in conjunction with 1x Ultimate gift card, if desired), but there is no known limit to the number of TGG gift cards (or Ultimate gift cards) you can redeem instore. Keep this in mind when planning your TGG purchase using Ultimate gift cards.

Also, i tried to do Exchange card, and redeem the card hoping that I can combine multiple cards amount and exchange to good guys but after I redeemed, only very selected retailers available? Like dusk, star car wash, the iconic etc.?

      Correct.

Only some participating retailers actually participate in the Ultimate gift card exchange facility. The webpage for the Ultimate Home gift card shows this too if you click/tap on See how you can shop with our partners below and then select Exchange Card.

Now that I redeemed one of the card there, can I still use the card elsewhere?

Where did you redeem the card? Judging by your comment, you never redeemed the card anywhere; you only actually logged into the online exchange portal using the card details.

If you only logged into the exchange portal using your Ultimate gift card details and never actually exchanged part or the full balance of the Ultimate gift card for anything on the exchange portal, the available balance remains untouched and can still be used at any participating retailer.

        Thank you @WookieMonster.
When i went to https://exchangeyourcard.com.au, the button says Redeem, so I thought when I entered my card details, I "redeemed" the card. I didn't exchange to any cards though, so I assume I can still use the amount normally at participating stores like you said?

Yep. I’ve done that in the past. If you check the balance of the gift card on the MyPrepaidCentre website, you will see the balance remains untouched.

I think the use of the term Redeem is a bit of a misnomer. It really should say Log In or Go To Exchange Portal.
