Will be useless for any Cyber Monday deals then since they're physical GCs that have to be mailed and you can't buy them in-store for this price. Come on, AusPost!

    • +5

Ozbargain has deals all year round

  • Awesome. iPad Pro 11" 3rd gen for $935 from JB using these cards looks the goods.

    • +1

      These need to be delivered.

  • Any one at Aust Post know the stock levels available?

    • I wish I did, but I’m not in that department.

      • +1

Know anyone in the IT department? Wish them luck for us! 🤞

  • Does anyone know how long does delivery typically take for these? I assume it's just via email?

    • All good. 3-5 business days posted apparently!

  • $100 is the max card, so $1,000?

I spose that's not bad for $150 savings!

    • Per transaction…

  • -3

I’ve spent enough this Black Friday so I’ll only buy 60 $100 tomorrow.

    • +1

      Thanks for sharing.

      • You are welcome, thanks for commenting.

  • If I wanted to convert these to apple gift cards, what would be the best to get?
Is there a straight forward way to convert like online? Or would I try to use them to buy apple GCs in store?

    • +1

I did this at JB Hifi with the TCN deal on Friday

    Some WM thoughts:

    • The participating retailers of the Ultimate gift card scheme can change at any time and without prior notice. Blackhawk Network (the Ultimate gift card scheme owner) recently demonstrated their willingness to do this during a 15% off sale when JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys were pulled from two Ultimate gift cards that were apparently never supposed to include them as participating retailers.

    • If you are looking for Ultimate gift cards to spend at rebel, BCF or Supercheap Auto, there is a small chance the gift cards sent to you will not have the rebel, BCF or Supercheap Auto logos on the front of the packaging and therefore not be accepted at those specific retailers. I have not seen such Ultimate gift cards at brick and mortar retailers just yet, plus the Australia Post website clearly shows the logos for those three retailers. However, rebel, BCF and Supercheap Auto are being phased out of the Ultimate gift card scheme, so this is something to be mindful of.

    • There is a weird problem where some physical Ultimate Home gift cards cannot be added to any mobile wallets; you can only redeem them in-store by physically swiping it on the EFTPOS terminal. This problem has only cropped up on one of a number of Ultimate Home gift cards I purchased recently that was manufactured in June 2022 (and this also had the new participating retailers - including Officeworks - printed on the front).

    • My commiserations to anyone out in WA… unless you want to be awake at 5am.

Thanks for the heads up. What about Him | Kids | Teens | Thanks cards (i.e. any card with the JB Hi-Fi logo)? Did you have the opportunity to test them as well?

It is preferable to have them added to your mobile wallet, or exchange them beforehand to reduce the possibility of staff members saying no during checkout (e.g. when buying Apple GCs).

      • +1

I should be clear and (after a discussion with another OzBargainer) that it appears to be Ultimate Home gift cards with specific card numbering.

I have added physical Ultimate Kids and Teens gift cards to mobile wallets within the last month without any issues, but those gift cards were manufactured last year and did not mention adding to mobile wallet (or Officeworks as a participating retailer) on the gift card packaging. It looks like the update of packaging this year coincided with an update with the numbering used for some Ultimate gift cards, which may have messed up Blackhawk Network's setup for mobile wallets…

        • I had the same problem for cards I bought from Aldi last week.

I could only add 1 out of 5 $100 cards to Apple Pay

Had to use the rest via eftpos swiping at JB.

          They were all dated 06/22

Same thing happened to me, several cards wouldn’t work at all (couldn’t add to Apple Pay - would give an error like the card isn’t supported or something). Weird thing was they were e-gift Ultimate cards, not physical. However it worked a few weeks later

      • I'm having problems getting mine accepted on the OW website. It's also manufactured in June 2022. I tested it by making a $5 purchase at JB HiFi online, and it worked, so problem seems to be on OW's end, not Ultimate's. I can't contact OW's customer service as they don't work on the weekend. Blackhawk's customer service have been trying to help, to no avail. So I highly suspect the problem is with OW's website.

Has anyone had any luck using the Ultimate Home cards on Officework's website?

        • I couldn’t get it to work online but could I store. I guess the merchant code is different/not included in the allow list for the online store. I actually think I remember seeing somewhere that Officeworks are I store only now I think of it.

          • @rpb: On the Ultimate website it says that it works online for OW. When I contacted Blackhawk's Customer Service they also confirmed it should work online at OW. I just had to register it first, which I did.

Problem is the item I want to buy is only available online in my area, none of the OWs have it in-store within 100kms of me.

  • +1

Thank God none of them can be used at Amazon otherwise I would have some serious FOMO

    • +1

      Agreed!

  • +6

Think there will be at least 20 negs tomorrow with people complaining the website crash can’t checkout and keep refresh and sold out…

  • A test for the AusPost DevSecOps team.

  • How long the gift card exp date?

    • +1

      T&Cs
Card will expire 3 years from date of issue.

  • 8:05am let’s go, who bought 10% aldi regret

    • Hahah. I thought that for a split second then remember I had one in my hand for spending this weekend

  • Worry about site crash tomorrow morning, but still better chance than empty shelf in Coles

    • Plenty of stock at my local Coles Ingham.

      • +3

Only remote countryside coles have them. Ransacked in all metro by a certain demographic

  • +6

This is a perfect way to do stress testing on your website.

  • +1

After I spent $500 on 10% off jb hifi cards yesterday lol

    • +4

Hey the saying "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush".
You may not be able to buy any of these Ultimate gift cards tomorrow morning.

    • @Circly Where did you buy them? I am happy to take it off your hands for the price you paid

  • +1

This is much easier than me running around like an idiot to every coles in Brisbane trying to find $100 gift cards…..

    • +1

Much more difficult to attain too. Site will surely crash and there wioo be plenty of unhappy people tomorow.

    • Petrol…

  • Does Good Guys accept multiple giftcards for a single purchase? In store or online?

    • Yes they can complain though

    • +2

Online max 2 and instore you can use multiple.

      • Thanks, had no idea there was a limit online

    • +1

Instore: Yes, as long as staff are happy to do this. Someone last year used 20 TCN gift cards in one transaction. (Yes, I realise they are not the same gift cards as the one in this deal, but the point is that there appears to be no limit (or a high limit) for the number of cards you can use in one transaction.)

Online (excluding TGG Commercial): You can only use 1x Ultimate gift card in an online transaction, as you can only redeem 1x Visa card in an online transaction. However, you can redeem it in conjunction with up to 2x The Good Guys gift cards. (Keep in mind that The Good Guys gift cards are different to Ultimate gift cards.)

Online via TGG Commercial: You can only use 1x Ultimate gift card in an online transaction, as you can only redeem 1x Visa card in an online transaction. You cannot redeem any The Good Guys gift cards on TGG Commercial. However, if you have a physical TGG store near you, follow these instructions to pay for your TGG Commercial order at a physical TGG store.

      • During Click Frenzy I had $1100 in TGG gift cards but the website kept giving an error in gift card checkout. Called the phone support and they hung up on me when the lines were really busy so finally I had to go in-store to buy a washing machine with my TGG gift card.

Buyer beware, TGG website sucks, their staff don't give a shit and their customer service is generally terrible.

      • I used 40 in one transaction at GG last year. They didn't care. Got a Samsung TV and paid in giftcards. Took ages though but they weren't busy as it was like 9am on a Monday.

  • This will be a shit storm, no doubt

    • Just as I was reading this comment. Lightning strikes and there was a sudden downpour lol.

It took out the internet. Bad omen.

  • -3

    Which one for Amazon?
Do we have to call Australia Post to activate ?

    • Look at the table posted in page 1 comment.

  • Does anyone know of a way to use more then 3 in a transaction at rebel sport? I'd like to buy a treadmill but it says max 3.

    • The rebel website states that you can redeem a maximum of 3 rebel gift cards in one online transaction. You can actually only use 1x Ultimate gift card in an online transaction, because rebel only lets you use 1x Visa card in an online transaction.

If you are going to be paying instore, you should be able to use multiple Ultimate gift cards, but you may want to check with a rebel store first whether there is a limit, as some stores' sales systems will have a limit for the number of cards that can be redeemed in one transaction. You can also exchange Ultimate gift cards for a rebel gift card , through the Ultimate gift card website, and I've heard that you can redeem more than 3 rebel gift cards in one instore transaction. Again, you may want to check with a rebel store first before committing to purchasing Ultimate gift cards.

    • @OfficerBarbrady I tried to use 5*100 ultimate him physical gift cards from rebel last time but found out it's for EFTPOS only and it's after the opening hours, so had to buy it from another store. Still left with the gift cards after a year…sigh

  • -5

Which card can be used on Amazon and ebay?

    • Look at the table posted in page 1 comment.

      • Thanks for your kind help

    • +2

I could be wrong but none I think

  • So you need an aus post account to purchase gift cards or can you checkout as guest? And does someone need to sign for delivery?

  • Do u need to call up auspost to activate the card after receiving them like I used to have to do with the ebay gift cards bought from auspost.

  • Motherf…. and i am stuck with teen GC as bloody jb never matches prices for things i want. And my oracle will taste bitter for a while

  • +2

what happens if the cards get lost in the mail??

    • Yeh that seems like a risk compared to getting them in store.

But TCN cards were impossible to find at Coles.

    • +3

You'll get a free watch as compensation

    • +2

      it's registered post

  • Why couldn’t they start the promotion at 12PM AEST? That way people from WA get a chance to purchase the cards. Most other businesses take this into consideration.

    • +3

What? Just need to wake up a little early

      • +1

        Noted.

I’ve also messaged Australia Post about this hopefully they will take the feedback into consideration.

  • +1

Damn missed the part that they actually have to send the cards to you….😭😭

I was excited that I can finically get 15% off Apple GC tomorrow for the Apple Black Friday sale…..

Back to 10% then, still not sure if I should pull the trigger (Airpod Pro 2).

  • Does Auspost sell their own giftcards at Coles. If yes, does anyone know if i can use the Auspost GC to buy these TCN GC online ?

  • You guys trust Australia Post to deliver these by mail and not get stolen/lost? Seems like a big risk. Even the postie could take ‘em?

Is there any tracking or insurance with the postage?

Have there been deals like this in the past with Auspost? Do they send them in a normal envelope or in a box?

  • I think woolworths is having the same offer currently

    • Only 10% from Woolworths,
Can’t see any available cards in store

  • There’s no way to tell if these are gonna be posted as normal or registered post. The only options at checkout are standard and express which relate to delivery timeframes only.

If these are activated before they are posted which looks like they are and somehow they get delivered to the wrong address (if through normal post) which unfortunately does happen, that can spell disaster.

    • @wekimekigugudan assures us it's registered posted.

Don't they have a pin (sent via email) like others anyway?

      • the time i bought gift cards from Auspost online was a couple of years ago, and was always by tracked mail, can't be sure now. : P

  • In addition to the physical cards, do we get pin and number via email too?

  • Is there a limit to how many of these cards you can use at JB Hifi at a time? I had an idea that it was max $500. Also do they have to be used in store only?

    • +2

Instore: there is no known limit coded into the JB Hi-Fi checkout system. The OzBargain record is 81.1 The $500 limit you’re thinking of stems from TCN’s attempt to limit the amount of TCN gift cards people could redeem in one transaction during the 15% off TCN gift card deal at Coles during Black Friday 2020, but TCN removed the limit from their terms and conditions about a couple of days after introducing it.

Online: 1. This is due to the Ultimate gift cards in this deal operating on the Visa network, and JB Hi-Fi can only process 1x Visa card in an online transaction. The workaround is to “convert” excess Ultimate gift cards into JB Hi-Fi gift cards, the redeeming multiple JB Hi-Fi gift cards in one online transaction. You can redeem an unlimited number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards in one online transaction. If you want to know more about “converting” Ultimate gift cards into JB Hi-Fi gift cards, read this comment, but I will warn you that this is not straightforward.

      1. Yes, the person was using TCN gift cards, but they are EFTPOS gift cards, so JB Hi-Fi will handle it the same way as an Ultimate gift card in terms of redemptions.

  • Anyone knows if there are any limits to use in store for Amart?

  • Didn't Ultimate used to have ebay?

    • +1

No. I’ve never seen eBay on the Ultimate gift card scheme.

Are you thinking of TCN? Their GIFT and ONLINE1 cards have eBay as a participating retailer.

You could also be thinking of the Swap Celebration gift card2, which is issued by the same company as the Ultimate gift cards.

      1. The ONLINE card sold through AGL’s gift card portal does not have eBay on there, because that is a different version to the ONLINE card sold elsewhere.

      2. The Swap Celebration gift card sold through Amazon AU does not include eBay as a participating retailer.

  • Can you PRICEMATCH the ULTIMATE EATS card at OFFICEWORKS?

How much does a $50 card actually cost after PRICEMATCH?

    • Yes. I did it last time. Got the $50 card for $40.37

    • +1

It depends on whether the Officeworks store near you actually sells Ultimate gift cards.

Ultimate gift cards were removed from the Officeworks website around June 2022 (which was a few months before Officeworks started accepted some Ultimate gift cards as a payment method). Additionally, I’ve noticed most Officeworks locations around me no longer stocking Ultimate gift cards, although I discovered last week one store still selling Ultimate Thanks, Ultimate Beauty & Spa and Ultimate Eats gift cards. I did not test whether Officeworks can actually sell it to me, but my guess is that someone forgot to remove the Ultimate gift cards.

      • +1

Ultimate gift cards were removed from the Officeworks website around June 2022 …
Additionally, I’ve noticed most Officeworks locations around me no longer stocking Ultimate gift cards…

        Damnit, grrrr! :(

Thanks for the info though, Wookie :)

        • +1

Maybe you're like me and happen to have an Officeworks store in your area that still stocks Ultimate gift cards, but i would be surprised if you were able to purchase it.

Btw, if you were able to purchase an Ultimate gift card from Officeworks, you should be able to get Officeworks to price beat it, because there is nothing in the price beat guarantee that excludes purchases gift cards. However, the staff member you talk to may insist that you absolutely cannot price beat gift cards and will come up with many excuses to stop you.

  • Given that I have bought 20x $100, would i be able to redeem all that in 1 transaction at JB HiFi? (Buying an iPhone 14 Pro)

  • Any chance I'll be receiving these before next Friday?

  • Dear Australia Post, please send me some money in surface mail. Is that 15% off, or 15% risk of loss?
