Delter Coffee Press is the first coffee maker designed from the ground up, to solve one of the biggest coffee brewing problems-agitation. Uncontrolled agitation results in bitter coffee and inconsistent extraction. Delter’s unique Jet-Seal keeps the brew water and coffee grounds separated preventing uncontrolled agitation. Water contact is activated by actuating the Jet-Seal with pressure, offering complete control over water flow and agitation. The result is an exceptional cup like no other. Less bitterness with more clarity.

A unique delta Jet-Seal separates the brew water and coffee – stopping unwanted agitation and offering next-level brewing possibilities. The Delter Coffee Press is the first coffee maker to use a process we call "Injection Brewing", a completely new brew method we developed after countless hours of experiments. This works by infusing hot water into the coffee grounds under pressure, for improved control and consistency.

  • These are fantastic.Gifted one to each of my team members a couple of years ago and they're still using them.

  • +3

Anyone have a personal comparison vs the Aeropress?

    • Keen to know that too.

    • +3

A lot better in my opinion. We've done lots of experimentation over COVID lockdowns and everyone that tried agreed the Delter produces a much nicer cup.

The difference isn't night and day, it's still a very similar result. But I would say maybe 25% nicer/smoother.

The main differentiaiting point (for which the Delter was invented) was to control bloom. You can't do it with an Aeropress.

My recipe (for a flat white):
      - Fill boiling water to the middle of triangle
      - Push 50ml through
      - Wait 1:30s
      - Push the rest through (or you can push another 50ml and wait an extra 30s before pushing the rest)
      - Top up with frothed milk

For both Aeropress and Delter the brewing compass is extremely useful to dial your particular beans:

(someone made a web app for it -
      https://www.baristahustle.com/app-archive-main/the-coffee-co… )

Overall, I always use the Delter when at home, and keep the Aeropress for camping and such (due mainly to a slightly easier cleaning process)

      • What's your opinion vs espresso? Tempted to try this or maybe a knock off switch immersion dripper

        • I don't have an espresso machine at home so can only compare to cafe coffee. It's very rare that cafe coffee is as good as the coffee I make at home but I attribute it to the decaf beans sourced and the milk they're using.

In general Aeropress and Espresso does not produce the same type of cup. An Espresso is much stronger and direct while an aeropress is more rounded. That's the only way I can explain it but you might need to try both to understand. Plenty of information about it on the interwebs if you search as well.

I do like both and enjoy both, the reason I don't have an espresso machine at home is that I don't see a reason to - I'm very happy with what I can get from the aeropress (or delter) and appreciate the simplicity, fuss free nature of it.

          Hope that helps.

          • @AncientWisdom: Thanks for replying. Yeh I was just seeing if you had some real world opinions. The online comparisons feel quite vague but it's probably one of those things you can't really understand until you try it for yourself…

            • @mit: Yeah definitely tricky to explain.

How do you normally take your coffee?

              • +1

@AncientWisdom: I've got an ECM espresso machine so that covers my morning hit. Cold drip in the afternoons if I've made any. LIke most hobbies, I tend to get bored and find other things to buy/try. I'm fairly sure I'm just finding more ways to waste time and procrastinate the more important things. Been watching too much James Hoffman.

      • Any thoughts on using Delter press for travel? I'll mostly be staying in hotels but can't rely on coffee quality in these places, so would prefer to travel with my own pre-ground beans and machine. I've previously used the Bialetti with an integrated hot plate, just plug it into a socket and brew away. Now I'm thinking either Delter or Aeropress - or perhaps the Wacaco Nanopresso. Grateful for wisdom from the hive mind!

      • Forgot to specify the coffee amount in the recipe above: 18 grams

  • My recent order of Aeropress via Westfield Direct was cancelled without any explanation. Not impressed with the shop.

  • Killer price.

  • Any decent cheap grinders on sale?

    • +1

Normcore v2 hand grinder is $104 on Amazon

      • +1

These guys at AB are selling the v2 with the Titanium burr upgrade (same, just much longer lifespan, 5× expected) for $160

$104 is an amazing deal for a very capable grinder (same burr as Option-O Remi, just not stepless which isn't much issue) but I personally refuse to ever buy from Amazon - their business practices were illegal until they had the laws changed

Anyway, another alternative is the 1zpresso Q2 heptagonal burr (not pentagonal) which I am considering, along with the ZP6 Special. 1zpresso grinders do both espresso and filter etc but generally J series best suited for espresso. K series the rest (according to way too many hours of YouTube)

  • For those interested in Sydney, PM me. I have a few for sale at lower price.

  • With stainless filter for $29.

Aeroptess is $40. With espresso attachment $75

  • Same price via their ebay shop, which may work out cheaper if you combo it with a coupon or cashback
