    • Is GITS SAC worth watching by it's self for someone who hasn't played the game, watched any movies, etc?

  • +11

If only this set included the original English dub; unfortunately only the Netflix dub is included.

    • Is good? How to get.

    • +1

      They re-did the English dub?

      • I wanna know why did they re-dub, and what are the differences

        • +1

Different voice actor's, and apparently a more true translation of the original Japanese.

  • +2

Also note that they didn't have the rights for the theme tune for this release.

I'll be honest, If it doesn't have Cruel Angel's Thesis, that's a big downer. What does it have instead?

    • +2

The review I quoted seems to be referring to the Limited Collector's Edition.
It may not be the case in this release.
      Have removed that text.

    • +6

Pretty sure it's the end theme that they no longer had the rights for (cover of 'fly me to the moon')

      • Ah, cheers - yeah I guess that's a bit more likely to have licensing issues

  • +1

    The ending, people, the ending.

    • +5

It all comes tumbling down tumbling down tumbling down~

    • Don't forget to drink Tang while watching.

    • There was a camera is Asuka hospital room,
      And they did nothing.

Homer: I can watch and understand all of NGE in a single viewing!

Manager: No you can’t, Mr Simpson, no one can!

  • +1

Technically not a complete series. It's missing the latest "movie" re-writes. I'll wait until the set with those included before I buy..

    • +1

Didn't think they were that good anyway. TV series + EoE are far superior imo

  • +4

The new movies (111, 222, 333) are pretty good.
Waiting for Evangelion: 3.0+1.11 Thrice Upon a Time to come out on blu-ray

You'll be waiting until March 2023. Watch it now for free on Amazon Prime.

      • Yes, seen it already on Prime.

    Same price at JB HI-FI

  • Great price

  • +1

Apparently this one has The End of Evangelion? This is according to JB Hi-Fi review. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/neon-genesis-evangelion-c…

  • -3

I watched it on Netflix and the ending was not worth it. I've heard that the movies etc do a better job of explaining what the hell was going on.. but I felt like the whole series was just pointless in the end.

    • +10

You should write to anno and tell him what you think

    • No, the last movie ties everything together. It's worth watching everything. Can't say how because I don't want to spoil it or wreck someone's take on it. For me I feel it's a powerful comment on mental health. Likewise I think people can make a potential viewpoint and still be valid as the ending seems ambiguous. If you want an in depth analysis recommend to Google it.

    • Did you watch End of Evangelion?

    • Most of the explanation is happening in the background.
Don't pay too much attention to the Eva/Angel fighting.
You also need to watch End Of Eva, which takes place at the same time as ep25 and ep26

It's been cheaper when JB has buy one get one free with their boxsets. Tried to share it with someone last time by buying 2 but didn't work out so bought breaking bad and this.

Great series, also have the old boxset in dvd which I think have the original dub and music. Highly recommend it, one of my favourite anime of all time!

    • old boxset in dvd which I think have the original dub and music

The original, or the platinum edition? I have the latter. Either way, they have the original dub and music.

      • I just checked, the platinum, not original original I guess! Much difference?

        • +1

Platinum is much better. The original had color banding and washed colors.
The English Audio was also remastered in 5.1 for the Platinum editions.
After I upgraded, I sold the original back in the day.

          • +1

@idonotknowwhy: Lol glad to know. I even remember watching it on SBS. Haha I don't even have surround at home and still on stereo speakers. Just remember spending far too much money on anime and movies at JB-Hifi! I guess it's not as nostalgic not having fly me to the moon in end credits.

I miss my Akira dvd that I lent out that I won't get back. Missed getting the 4k collectors edition when JB still had stock!
