Hikoki 1500W 254mm (10") Table Saw - $699 Delivered (Bonus Battery or Work Light Valued $199 via Redemption) @ TradeTools

120

A well reviewed job site Table Saw. Was previously $1100 and still appears to be at other online retailers but found here for $699. They described it as a price reduction so this may well flow into the other retailers but at least for now it is a whole lot of saw for the money. As a side note as part of the BF deals you can grab a battery (BSL36A18) OR a work light (UB18DB) as a bonus (claimed value is $199). While great, this saw runs on mains and the work light requires a battery to run! Unless your invested into their system already I would grab the battery over the work light and sell it on.

Price matched online at total tools

    • Total tools now advertised at same price

    • How much is delivery for you?

  • Wow, thought i got a good deal at $900 plus free battery in January

  • Cordless one also discounted at $799, doesn't include stand though.

  • Anyone know what the fence is like?

    • +1

Only grabbed one yesterday but fence is solid and generous size wise. Most of the detailed reviews seem to share this opinion. Can only comment more after I spend some time with it. I can say it seems extremely well built down to things like the electronic breaking when powered off

fence appears to be the same rack and pinon fence used on the dewalt jobsite table saws.

  • can anyone comment on this compare with dewalt?

    • The guys In store said they had zero of this one returned but a few of the dewalts.

      • I’m sold, ordered one from Sydney tool.

  • I love how they say it is a 15A motor and at the same time says it is 1500Watts. 1500W/230V = 6.5A

    • Probably based off US 110v

  • Nice that it can take a 20mm dado blade. Not sure how well 1500W motor could cope with a 20mm dado blade.

  • sydney tools moorabbin had 3 at lunchtime today

  • Looks like a good saw, but reading online the fence has a bit of play and the plastic joins wear out so it gets worse over time. So if you need precision, not recommended.

    • Not able to comment on the plastic wearing out over time but after putting it through it’s paces since purchase I have not noticed any play in the fence. Tbh it is accurate enough that I am now relying on it and the built in scale for all but the smallest of cuts.

      • Nice. Yeah it might just be people being finnicky. Saw a few comments about it on youtube and woodworking forums. Besides that it seems universally praised. I'm getting sick of using my circ saw and having to line everything up. I might still buy this Hikoki, the price is great. Can always upgrade the fence in future. Did you have to do much set up/calibration?

I'm kicking myself I missed the chance to buy a jobsite Sawstop, near new 2nd hand, for the price of Dewalt 7491XE :(

        • It’s my first table saw also and I am now wondering how I got through life without it! Set up was just assembly and it was bang on, although it’s easy enough to calibrate if required. It’s one sturdy well built bit of kit,I think you will be happy 👍

          • @morrisoc: 1) There is play between the screw heads on the fence rack and the notches in the fence bracket, so you have to be careful if you remove and refit the fence after you have calibrated it.
            2) I suggest to remove the table insert and check for flatness with the edge of a good steel rule. On most of them the steel protection plate at the back end of the insert sits proud of the rest of the insert, and kicks up at the back edge. Not only can this impact non-thru cut depth accuracy but items can get caught on the leading edge of this plate which is very dangerous and can cause kickback. Read this review…

(Metabo HPT is the USA brand name for Hikoki).
            3) The riving knife is not removable which some people find a pain.
            4) Heel adjustment is not documented in the manual and is not easy to perform.
            https://www.woodworkingtalk.com/threads/hitachi-c10rj-heel-a…
            5) Mitre slots can have an inconsistent width along their length making it hard to create mitre slot runners that fit accurately but also slide smoothly.
            6) The table insert for dado blades, and spare parts in general, are difficult to source compared to the yellow brand.

But it is a bargain compared to other saws in the same price bracket.

              @codaroma: 1) True
              2) True, make a new zero clearance one out of MDF to solve
              3) The riving knife can be made to be removable by extending the slit through the bottom of the knife with a dremel, I removed mine completely to do it and it was a pita to get back in, probably easier to cut still attached to the saw
              4) True
              5) TRUE, I 3d printed some runners and after a few forceful slides they wear down to a nice fit

Hurts my soul to see this on sale for $700 after paying RRP

              • @AngryAlfred: Are you happy with the saw? I'm still considering buying this. Ideally I'd get a Sawstop (and/or cabinet saw eventually) to save my fingers as I'm ADHD and a bit paranoid of injury and ruining my music hobby.

I've got heaps of plywood/mdf sheets to rip atm and im sick of using the circ saw.

                • @JoeSchmogan: Sorry for late reply. Been very happy with it once getting it all calibrated and dialed in. It's no sawstop but the Hikoki does have a very good ebrake once you kill the power which the Dewalt doesn't compete with. Obviously a cabinet saw would be ideal but cost/space limitations. As long as you respect the tool and visualise the cuts before every pass you should be fine, or if you're just ripping down sheets you could look at a plunge saw, or if you're ballsy there's plenty of tutorials on YouTube of converting a circ saw into a panel saw.

At this discounted price though yeah, no brainer.

If only dewalt dropped massive clearance sales like these. This seems crazy good value to me. Can't go wrong with Hitachi right

    • Think I mentioned it above but at the store the staff were saying they have never had one of these returned however they have had a few of the Dewalts come back. Take it with a grain of salt but the guy was not invested either way.
