HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1201n Mono Multi-Function Printer $278 + Delivery ($0 in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

90

Not the cheapest black and white printer, doesn't do double sided :(, doesn't have an ADF but this is like the ecotank's of the laser world so it means cheap and quality printing (vs messy refills).

Seems to be the lowest price compared to other sellers and comes with 5000 pages worth of toner. Refills are around $25-$30 per 2500 pages (OEM original toner, not remanufactured). Drum unit is around $120 and replaced every 20k pages.

Specifications on Harveys page say Wifi, but this is not the wifi model and as a result seems to cost half as much (wifi printing is according to one reviewer slow on the wifi version of this printer).

Other tidbits:

  • USB / RJ45 Networking
  • 99 copies maximum
  • Copy speed upto 14 pages per minute
  • Printing resolution 600 x 600 x 2 dpi (not sure what the x 2 means in HP's parlance? maybe variable dot size?)
  • Saw reference to 'archive print' mode (suspect slow print mode to give toner more fusing time to better fuse to paper)
  • 150 sheets paper capacity
  • Monthly Duty Cycle : 20,000 pages 2500 recommended
  • 338 watts printing, 3.3 watts ready, 0.95 watts sleep, and 0.1 watts (manual off)

Probably a good printer for a small office that prints 1000 to 2000 pages per month and with the toner refills printing will end up costing a little over 1 cent per page where quality needs to be good, but not exceptional.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

I’m not interested, but thanks for a great description!

That takes effort, and I know that some people will find it very helpful.

  • Good price for someone that wants genuine supplies. I hope this bring competition to the market.

For comparison, I got Brother MFC-L2740DW for $260.

It has duplex printing and scanning with automatic feeder and WiFi printing. But genuine toner for 3000 pages is and Drum unit for >10k pages is around $150.

Non-genuine 3000 pages toner cost ~$75 for 3 and I've been using them without any issues and don't really notice the difference.

HP + generic manufacturers proofed that it's commercially viable to sell toner at reasonable price. I hope they sell well!
