Yes but no, in this case 99% of sata ssd can only reach 500mbps write and read so in your case no
For USB 3.2 gen 2, USB-A, USB-B and USB-C are all possible. So, the cable is USB-C to USB-A / USB 3.2 gen 2. It's not an issue for most PC desktop or NUC users since most of them have USB-A USB 3.2 gen 2 ports (with a lot of them having USB-C as well). USB 3.2 gen 2x2 and Thunderbolt require USB-C.
This is less desirable for Mac or laptop users (because you probably need to buy a decent USB-C to USB-C cable (not the mobile phone USB 2.0 version)). However, with SATA3, you cannot really benefit much from USB 3.2 gen 2 anyway.
another noob here, why 2.5 over m2 or nvme?
Maybe because cheaper (both the drive and case)
But ssd is still better than mechanical driveFor those who already have a spare 2.5' internal drive lying around, this is a very cheap way to make it a portable external drive.
I wouldn't buy this AND an internal drive since portable external hdd are already fairly cheap on their own.
@justaddwater NVME is the newest format and is an upgrade from m.2, 2.5 is usually (or always) SATA it's bigger and wider and is often used for external hard drives. So you would usually only buy this case if you already had the 2.5 in drive. I've got two 2.5in drives and I pulled them out of old computers, so I bought a clear Orico case (it doesn't have to be clear i just like being able to see the drive inside of it) similar to this, to use to connect to my TV when I downloaded a video file from my computer or to transfer large files from one computer to another.
Thanks OP 👍
thx op, got me some pink bits!
computer noob here. does it matter that it is normal USB to USB-C interface? is it not faster if it is USB-C on both ends?
